With how quick the exchange goes, and the amount of topics on each page you need to know how to catch the buyers eye. This is just a quick guide I decided to put together.
Titles
Definately one of the most important thing when catching a person's eye. This is the first thing a person sees before entering your thread so it must be good. Here are a couple things to think about when making a great title.
1. Tell exactly what your trying to do in a brief sort of way. This way a buyer knows that they can find what they are looking for.
2. Give it personality. If you are running a shop give it a spiffy title that reflects you!
3. Spelling need I say more
4. Be Truthful. Don't say your giving away items when your actually not. This is a good way for you to get banned, flamed, and lose a sale. Exchangers don't like liers.
Look
This is mostly for shop owners. The overall look of the thread can really keep a person interested in your shop. Though if you are just trying to sell a couple of items with a temporary thread it may not be worth making a bunch of graphics.
1. Banners-They can really show your personality as well as let the buyer know that you are really serious. Who wants to look at a boring thread as opposed to one with color.
2. Theme-It's always nice to go with a theme when it comes to the shop. i.e. once I thought of making a shop, but I called it a restraunt. Instead of having an index I had a menu.
3. Organization-Make sure everything looks right. Center what needs centered, bold what needs bolded. Also with the order of things. It's a shop people want to know what your selling so if a muli function thread for your quest/lotto/contest/giveaway/selling/buying make sure you put what your selling first. There have been many a time I left a thread because they had junk about what they are questing for as their first priority. If it's in the exchange that's not what I'm looking for.
Literacy
I don't believe I need a list for this one. Basically you look pretty bad when you spell every other word wrong. Everyone has a typo once in awhile but if you check your spelling you show a person that you know what your doing. It gives you a sense of charge. You don't have to use a wide vocabulary to look good.As long as you can spell correctly and don't use leet then you are good to go.
