My church is filled with large familes. Meaning familes with a lot of kids. Coming from a family with 11 kids, I know how easily the flu and stuff like that can get passed around. Well when H1N1 was going around, EVERYONE was freaking out, and going all bananas insane because the media made it look like everyone would die if they got it.

So a couple weeks after the whole H1N1 outbreak happened my family caught it. It went around to all 11 kids, even the little babies. Well turns out I DIDNT DIE! I know a shock. >.< So like everything else, the media made it look like it was the most horrible disease and we were going to die if we got it.

It is just like the flu, only you feel like you have been hit by a truck and you are really sore and tired. Plus the headaches, but it's not really that bad. Yes I know some people have died, but that is VERY VERY rare.

Also some random person said we should all get the H1N1 vaccine, and I was like, Uh...no way. I watched this video about this girl who got it, and it actually messed her up really bad. Besides, vaccines don't even 100% Guarantee that you are immune to this virus. My parents said that it is not a good idea, and my step dad is a doctor so he knows what he is talking about. 3nodding

So what are your opnions about H1N1, and getting the vaccine?

I've been wondering why it was even made out to be such a big deal in the first place. I've never understood why everyone is so afraid of H1N1.

Any given strain of flu virus can be potentially dangerous if you don't have access to medical care and/or you have a compromised immune system. H1N1 is no different, but from everything I understand, it's not really any worse.

All vaccines carry risks. It's usually recommended that only people who have increased risk of complications should they contract a flu virus get any sort of flu vaccine anyway. There's no reason to if you're a normal, healthy human, and the more people are vaccinated, the faster the virus is like to mutate. If you have a compromised immune system and contracting any sort of flu would pose a significant threat to you, you should get vaccinated. If that's not the case, don't bother.

Yeah I think that if you are a healthy human being, you don't need to get a vaccine.

I'm getting the H1N1 vaccine on Tuesday, but I've been told the reason I should is because I fall into one of those high risk groups. I'm diabetic and my brother thinks we should be getting one anyway. I've always been wary of getting vaccines, but more now than ever since I already have diabetes and it seems my body doesn't know how to respond to anything "normal" any more. sweatdrop
