Daft Punk was the perfect choice because of there sound, They have shown in the past that they have the skill for such a project, and they use a look that, as seen in the movie, makes them look like DJ programs. Also weather or not this can be attributed to the movie's success is unknown but in October 2011 Daft Punk placed 28th in a worldwide official poll of DJ Magazine, where as in 2010 they placed 44th.
On a personal note prior to this album there album known as Discovery and was released in 2001. Many of the songs on this album if played with there videos in the right order formed a short movie named Interstellar 5555. Most if not all of these videos are currently on youtube.com but due to copyright laws are hard to find in there entirety.
