Basic Training (reference)It was the beginning of a new day out in the wasteland. The sun had just begun to peek out over the horizon as the Brotherhood of Steel soldier went down into the ground for his final bout of training. A bunker was set aside for this one last obstacle course before the plunge, when this fine soldier was to be sent out to earn his name in the field. He was issued down a long corridor into the dim illumination, ending up in a small room with a metal door. In front of that door was his tester. His instructor-to-be was not the tallest, or strongest man, but he was respected enough to mold his flabby flesh into durable steel. He stood there in the armor of a Knight, a suit of combat armor that had been modified to provide better protection, stained in a dark gray. The Knight's helmet was off, golden hair cascaded from his head like straw. His eyes were also golden, like a cat. "I am Knight Azure and you are in my charge until you have completed my course."Azure's relatively calm voice echoed throughout the corridor. "Since I haven't had the chance to read your files, perhaps you would be so kind as to introduce yourself..."azureink Objective 1: Character Introduction.Please introduce your character in a post (minimum one paragraph). Derek Salutes which shakes his dark-brown hair around and nearly knocks Chewy off his own head. He walks silently up to the Knight with his long legs and stares Azure directly in the eyes with his own Hazel eyes.
"I am Initiate Derek, and I will be keeping my ferret, Chewy, with me at all times. I will be needing any kind of scrap metal anybody can spare to make a rough suit of armor for Her. She can withstand a great battle and assist greatly on any stealth mission but this is really about her. my specialties are claw-based and explosive weapons. as for guns I prefer long-rage weapons like my hunting rifle but I carry a shotgun for any close range opportunities. nothing special in the learning ways but I have trained Chewy with some very advanced commands. I could give you a quick example Tch-Tch Chewy"
The ferret begins rooting through my backpack and hands me a grenade.
"That one wasn't too complicated but you get the idea, right?"

The Knight's eyes took in the strange sight of the ferret retrieving items from the Initiate's pack. "Intriguing... Well, we'll see what you and your animal friend are made of."The instructor stated as he turned and went up to the door. It opened and he ushered the Brotherhood soldier, and ferret, down a short corridor and into another room. Some straw-stuffed, burlap sack dummies stood around on metal poles. One such dummy stood off to the right, three more stood across the room, where a white firing-line was drawn on the ground several meters from them. Weapon lockers and ammo boxes lined the sides of the room where the dummies weren't. "Let's see how honed your melee skills are against these dummies."Knight Azure said as he pointed to the lone dummy nearby. azureink Objective 2: Basic Combat.Basic Combat is divided into three sections: unarmed/melee combat, firearms, and throwing (usually grenades). 1) Unarmed/Melee Combat. In another post (minimum three sentences), approach the straw dummy provided, and strike it with either unarmed attacks or a melee weapon (you may use any Initiate ranked unarmed or melee weapon of your choice).

Derek heads over to a weapons locker and grabs a pair of razor claws.
"These will do just fine, let's go Chewy!"
The two run over to the dummy at top speed and start Tearing it up with their claws. Derek throws Chewy through the air at the dummy's face, allowing the ferret to start going for vital areas. Then Derek slashes the dummy in the stomach three times swiftly then hops over it to attack it's back. While Chewy starts tearing out where the dummy would have eyes Derek starts attacking down the center of the back, which would usually separate the spine. Chewy, now gnawing on the dummy's neck, starts to burrow inside the head, going where she would usually tear up the brain.
"Finish!"
The word finish signals Chewy to hop back on to Derek's head so he can slice it's head clean off without harming his ferret. after the head is gone Derek kicks the dummy over for good measure.
"Can never be to careful with those mutants, you need to cut 'em up every way you can."

"I see teamwork is your forte."Azure stated before he motioned with his hand to bring the recruit over to the firing line. A table sat off to the side with an assortment of smallarms. Pistols to hunting rifles adorned the surface of the table. "Now let's see how well you handle a firearm."azureink Objective 2: Basic Combat.2) Firearms. In your next post (minimum three sentences), approach the firing line, and take aim at any of the three straw dummies provided (you may use any Initiate ranked firearm of your choice; if you choose a basic firearm without the burst feature, you will need to requisition one that does have that feature for the second part of this training exercise). First, fire some single rounds into the dummy(ies) of your choice. After that, you will switch to burst-fire mode and mow down a dummy of your choice.

Derek walks over to the table and grabs a hunting rifle.
"For guns Chewy is only good at finding ammo, she has too sit this one out."
Derek lines up a shot for the heart, fires two shots which spread straw everywhere, and then he quickly fires four shots into the skull of the dummy.
Once the dummy stops swaying from the last six shots he lines up a final three shots into the base of where the spine would be and unloads lead until he's sure that dummy would be crippled and dead.
"Vitals are the only way to go, well those and grenades."

"You seem to be able to wield a single shot weapon. Now let's see if you can handle the kickback of a burst weapon."
Azure said as he pointed to the AK-47 on the table.

"Well I do prefer single shot but alright."
Derek grabs the AK-47 leaving Chewy on the table to wait again. He starts aiming for the head so he could just tear it to shreds until he remembers burst weapons aren't as accurate. When that fails he begins unloading into the dummy's chest, being sure to make every shot count. A few shots skew off and hit the dummy elsewhere and He only misses two shots hitting the wall both times. after the straw was down falling down to the ground Derek places the gun back down on the table and retrieves Chewy.
"Yeah, I'm definitely better with single shot weapons."

"Looks like it."The Knight stated before pointing to a box of grenades, then to the dying dummies. "Let us see if you know how to use a grenade."azureink Objective 2: Basic Combat.3) Throwing. In your third post (minimum three sentences) of the Basic Combat training, you will retrieve a grenade of your choice from the nearby ammo box, and throw it at one of the three straw dummies that inhabit the same area that you used your firearm(s) on. Describe the explosion.

Derek walks over to the box and smiles at the array of explosives.
"My favorite."
He grabs an incendiary grenade and chucks it at the dummy with enough force to lodge it into the dummy's chest and he sits back and waits for it to go off so he can watch the fireworks. when it went off the flaming straw was everywhere and it almost catches Derek's hair on fire.
Derek chuckles and puts his second grenade back.

Azure nodded at the explosion. "You have done well so far. Now for the next test."He led them into an even larger room than the first. This one was dotted with obstacles. Small hills, waist-high walls, oil drums... it looked like a miniature reenactment of the wasteland surrounding the Brotherhood compound. "On the other side of this world is the exit. If you can reach it undetected, we'll know whether your sneaking skills are top notch. If you can't... well, you can't.
You have already passed most of the parts that matter, so this is more of a test to see if you can sneak. This is to notify us of another ability at our disposal. If you want to give up, or don't care to go through this last part, you can say so now, or later on. I myself never cared to much about stealth.
You can't see him from where we are, but there is another Initiate on the other side of the room, his job is to find you when this starts.
Any questions?"azureink Objective 3: Stealth.You are ushered into a large square room with many small barricades to hide behind (ranging from boulders to stacks of barrels and crates). You start on one side of the room and the instructor starts at the exit. The objective is for you to make it to the exit without the instructor catching you. The instructor has to hunt you down and can't wait at the exit. This objective will take the form of an rp with many posts (minimum three sentences each for both participants). The objective is completed whether or not you can make it to the exit. The objective is not failed if the instructor catches you... not everyone is born a ghost.

Derek takes a quick look over the potential hiding spots.
"Chewy can get past you before I even start to move, we usually separate during obstacles like this."
He starts out in a running position with Chewy by his side. Derek makes sure to plot a few backup courses in case Azure gets too close. Once he's all ready he only has one thing to say.
"only one question, when will you be ready?

Azure blinked.
"I am not your opponent. I just said that there was another Initiate here that would test you."

Initiate Greggory was the tester this time... Usually Initiate Fitz did the job, but he was out on patrol. He began to stretch his legs as the bullhorn sounded the beginning of the test.
Greggory was a brown haired, green eyed, youth of around twenty. He wore the basic brown initiate armor, except he also wore a winter jacket over it. Not only did this protect him a little to the harshness of the desert winds, but it kept him warm in the dark cold of the wasteland night. Otherwise he looked just like everyone else, nothing remarkable distinguished him from others.
It served Greggory double duty here as the temperature of the testing room began to drop rapidly. Fog and wind machines began to activate, blowing fake snow across the area. The whole effect was to imitate a snowstorm on the peaks of some mountains nearby.

Azure began to walk away toward a side-booth to watch the event.
