why is veganism always written with a *? I don't get it. It's not like it's a curse. This is driving me insane, but just in curiousity, not anger. ninja

It's a universal word. You can stick varying amounts of letters between veg*nism to make different words, for example veganism and vegeterianism. :3
Hope that explained it a bit!

It's because we're awesome enough to warrant an asterisk in the middle of our word. Veg*an baby.
