Once upon a time... Wait.. that's only how you start happy stories, and this is no happy story. Let's start that over.
A few years ago, there once lived an unfortunate girl. She was shunned by everyone, and the outsiders could never figure out why. The girl's name was Melanie.
Melanie was a nice child, always kinds, even when treated poorly. Despite her efforts to be liked, people hated her because of her parents. No matter what Melanie did, people couldn't accept her.
Many outsiders asked what her parents did that was so bad, for many people had met them and found them friendly.
It was never about how nice they were, it was about what they could do during the twilight hours.
Little did the parents know.... that their daughter would be the most powerful of all....
