Hello. I'm Misa Catailia, and I decided to make a small guide here for the use of others. Though I'm no expert at these kinds of things, I know a fair bit that I can share so... yeah~ Sorry if I sound a bit insane or wacko in this, its like 1am and I'm a bit tired but I thought it needed updating so I decided to do that now . w.
Updated 14/11/2010: I fixed some typos, made it prettier, and updated the Investment Suggestions. Enjoy :3Table of Contents Welcome-Starting out-Buy low sell high-Short Term vs Long Term-Hoarding-Investment Suggestions-Vending-AIing-

Investing is probably my favorite way to earn gold. *Nods* Its great for those who are lazy and find it easiest to just sit there and watch their hoards grow in worth while they live life ect. =p Though there are some things you need to start out, these include: 1. To know if you want to do a Long Term or Short Term investment. 2. A fair amount of Gaia Gold to create your hoard with. 3. An item(or items) you plan to invest in. 4. At least some knowledge of the item you're hoarding / investing in.
First off, you want to know what item you are going to invest in. Some of the best items are things that are limited in the Cash Shop, or an event item that is decent and limited to one per person. Chance Items / RIGS and Evolving Items fit here too, though are much higher in risk factor. Holiday-friendly items are good too, though. Then its best to get some knowledge on the item, go to say, TekTek.org and look up the item for graphs of the items Lowest Buy Price / LBP or Gaia's for average sell. These should tell you when the best time to buy is and if its a smart idea, also if its a short term or long term investment. Then you can start making your hoard, though don't spend all your money on one investment, just in case it fails and you end up losing gold. Get a couple and save them for a while before deciding to sell. The thing with investing is that YOU are the one who chooses when to sell. There's always a chance that if you wait longer, it will deflate or be re-released if its not a MC. But if you wait and it doesn't, than you WILL make more.

When you go to make a hoard of an item, watch for miss-prices or dips in prices / temporary inflation. If you see a miss-price, get it, they will make better profit. You judge when you sell when you invest and hoard. So sell when you're happy with your profit. With safe, long term investments such as Monthly Collectibles, the longer you keep them the better, you will make more profit that way, just sell when your happy. Though with the more risky investments like RIG items, sell them between RIG releases. Because though you can gain much more profit, you run the risk of the item being re-released and thus losing a lot of gold. Than there's items that are seasonal things. Olympics, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, ect. These you sell in their designated times. Christmas - December, Halloween - October. Ect. These you hafta make sure you don't miss the time gate, because if you missed it, you missed it.

This really depends on: Are you patient? How fast do you need gold? How much gold do you need? How much or a risk will you take?
Long term investing is actually easier if you are patient. These are usually safer investments that become worth more over time. You sell when you are happy with profits and that's it, the longer you keep it, the better. Monthly Collectibles fit here, are they will never be re-released and are only out for a limited time. Thus are quite safe investments. They will inflate over time and the longer you keep them the better. Though some are duds, like say the rock puppy, others are great, like the other collectible that came out in March 2005, the Kiki kitty. Like all investments, it all depends on supply and demand.
Short Term investments are quick, and if they turn out right, make a lot of gold. But the thing is, THEY ARE RISKY ;___;. You run a high risk of losing gold usually, though not always. RIGS / Chance Item prizes are in this category, because they run the risk of being re-released, though are limited and if the item has a high demand rate, will raise quite quickly. This is also where still evolving Evolving Items go, for though they have a fair chance of inflating, they also have the chance of getting a crappy evolution and deflating, than you're screwed.

For the record, it says hoarding .___. Hoarding. It all comes down to this to sum it up: How much do you want to spend and on how many units? To answer these you need to consider some things. The risks: “What is it doesn’t discontinue?” “What if everyone starts selling and the price is permanently dropped?” and “What if no one wants to buy it?” The higher the risk the more likely if its short term and works it will be worth more. The budget: How much can you spend? And the demand of it: Is there demand for this item that will make it inflate?

Nightmare Sash Right now is a great time to buy them. The item was overhoarded and people are dropping out of the investment, thus making the price drop. But in a couple years or so, it will still inflate and create great profit with luck. Silver Laurels One of the most popular 2009 MCs. I believe it inflate gradually. Besides, its a pretty item, thus the demand for it is fair. I'd suggest buying them before December and then either keeping them or selling them if they inflate due to their rather wintery theme. Bani the Bunny / Lunar Sash (May 2010) // These were really nice items, some of the best in 2010 actually, and I can see them going up. Watch for dips in the price and buy then, though don't wait too long, its a MC after all. Though buying any one of them would be fine, buying the letter is best. Note that the best time to sell would be around Easter / Winter.Punk Academy Bundle "Punk" items are already quite popular with Gaians. And the items in this bundle are really quite nice. I rather like them. Though you may of kind of missed the mark for best buying time, now is still an okay time.Malice Punk This is an amazing item, it has great poses and an awesome hair style. I really think it will go far. Also, the sooner you buy, the better, not to mention the fact that its low right now due to being re-released.

Vending is really just sitting around the just added page in the marketplace, looking for miss-prices. I've made quite a bit of money off of this, even if I hate it, I still do sometimes vend when I'm bored. Vending requires a couple things, patients, speed, and an eye for miss-prices. It also REALLY helps to have something like Firefox and the Tektek toolbar that makes it so your password is autoposted to be even quicker. Though Firefox isn't the fastest browser, I still use it for that. If I could do that on GoogleChrome, I would. [Or can I? I'm actually not sure.] VENDING IS BORING. I’m not going to sugar coat that. If you don’t find it boring, I envy you. It is one of the easiest ways to make money, but its still boring as all hell.

"Artificial Inflation / AI" Okay I'm just going to be to the point here: DO NOT FREAKING AI. If you do I will rage .___. AIing is annoying for everyone, and I really don't support it at all. You may think its a good way to get gold, but its not. It never works, people are usually smarter than that. .___. So yeah, just don't do it.
