History/Design Features: This ship is designed, as most Chryssalid ships are, to board and capture other vessles. Ot has little weapons that can damage other craft, but carry immense amounts of squids
Tentacles – see technology
EMP Batteries – 100 small EMP Cannons (anti fighter) for explanation of workings, look at Regulus Knight’s work. Large anti capital ship EMP cannon. It fires once in 3 seconds, and is 20m by 40m by 20m. The EMP cannons employed do a very good job against shields and armor, and have a large radius, giving more chance to hit a dodging fighter. However, while powerful, there are two main disadvantages. EMP cannons do not work on anything but electronics, so missiles cannot be shot down, as well as simple boarding torpedoes. The other disadvantage is the fact that is does not destroy anything. It temporary shorts out the system, basically powering down the area of the ship that it hits. This last for differing amounts of time, depending on how fast the enemy technicians reboot their systems. This comes to a problem when engaging fighters and bombers. They will loose control, and will continue in a straight trajectory. They have a chance of getting destroyed, but most times they will regain control and come back to the fight. Also, sometimes the charge can short out systems, disabling or destroying spacecraft. The higher miniaturized the component hit is, the more chance of shorting out.
Defenses- In addition to the EMP cannons, there are 100 smaller laser defense turrets, used against missiles and small craft. These are very small, about as big as a large rocket launcher.
Factories – Most Chryssalid ship’s have the ability to build other ships, but this particular type produces smaller ships, like fighters or bombers, as well. To make larger ships, the tentacles are maneuvered into position around an asteroid or hulk. In the pores equipment is placed, which analyzes and starts the construction of a new vessel. They assemble each part separately, then attach them together Obviously this takes time, more than if it was built in a space-docks, but with a fleet doubling it’s size in approximately 3 years. (Assuming an average space docks can produce a ship; in one year) The protrusion off the bottom is the factory for the smaller ship classes. Through holes in the bottom material is processed up, and on the side there are hangers that the newly built ships are placed into.
Hangars – There are 16 separate hangers, each large enough to fit around 24 Scicuid bombers or 48 fighters (Pictures and stats pending) It has to be outfitted differently for each, so they rarely are stored in the same hanger.
Power Plant – Pretty much all Chryssalid ships use a Plasma based power plant. Those combine the power of plasmas, and use them in addition to fusion reactions for greater power. The fusion reaction is easier to react in plasmas than it is in any other state of matter. There are two power plants in this ship, one for the weapons and military functions, and the other for rudimentary works, like engines and life support. The tentacles fall under both of these categories, so they share power supplies. Without one, they still move, but are slow and sluggish. The weapons system specifically controls the force-field tips, though.
Master/ Operator: Chryssalids; three queens per ship.
Weapon(s): 100 small EMP Cannons. 2 Large anti capital ship EMP cannons. 100 small laser defense turrets, Tentacles
Company: 2 million 4 thousand military personal.
Defensive Capabilities: Flexi-armor, (the outside plating is designed to bend, absorbing much of the blow.) plasma reinforced explosive pads. (think like the tank armor that explosively repels high penetrating shots)
Ship/Mode of transport/Propulsion: Gravitation Thruster, Hyperdrive engines (the GT cannot reach high speeds easily, but is most excellent in manouvering.)
Specialty: boarding actions
Strengths: cheapness, can pack a lot of troops
Weaknesses: small, low amount of large weapons.
Combat Stats: N/A
Other: The Ship has a bulging tank at the rear of the ship. This is a vat of the Chryssalid slime, albeit watered down a bit. There are pipes that extend down through the tub, with attachments regularly placed. Like a mother pig, these hold food and sustenance for Chryssalids. In the vat reside about 2/3s of the warriors aboard the ship. The other ship is on drills and marches on the gravity controlled part of the ship to keep in shape and get used to gravity. They are almost always in a state of near hibernation, or hibernating, while in the pool. Their energy is used on the excursions about the ship. Because there are many food tubes and a 3d living space, large amounts of Chryssalids crowd around and can fit in such a small space, they don’t even have to touch each other!
