The sun shone down gently through the leaves, lighting up the darkened reaches of the forest, making the world seem bright and fresh and new after the rainstorm. An almost heavy earthen scent hung in the air, Spring was here and the rains were bringing life back.

The dusky purple mare trotted delicately along the forest path, delighting in the signs of life all around her, while recalling all the new lessons she had learned. Her head turned this way and that as she tried to take everything in, not for study or the potential use the plants had, but to enjoy the beauty that she had so taken for granted.

The sun was warm, there was a slight breeze that caressed the body and soothed the soul without taking away from the day. She grinned. It was a lovely day to be alive, and she was going to enjoy every moment of it.

Winter had been a quiet one for him, he'd had a number of consorts but none had lasted for a significant amount of time. He could have sworn that something had be placed in the water, whatever it was had left them broody and desperate for children which were something he would never grace another with. Thus it had been with a world weary sigh that he had waved off a few and wished them well, by thrusting others out into the cold upon their insistance that he be the one to provide them with offspring. He had told them from the outset that he had no intention of settling, he had no desire to tie himself down with a mate and children when the world was filled with such opportunities. He delighted in his carnal pleasures and would have no one tell him that he should consider other alternatives. Alas he had been forced to accept that when it came to the Winter months of this particular year, he had limited pickings.

Thus he turned his pale gaze towards the rebirth of spring and regarded it with both appreciation and optimism. He had little doubt in his mind that spring would bring new blood to the Kawani Province and in doing so, more potential conquests. He would certainly consider a number of consorts if he deemed a mare intelligent enough to keep her around for an extended period of time, but for the most part he was interested in a few very basic things. Pleasure was at the top of his agenda of course and a good game or two - he was the competitive sort and revelled in the opportunity to prove his worth amongst his fellow stallions. In spring all these stallions would cease their hibernation or loved up antics and actually be sociable again, it was an opportunity he was not prepared to miss.

A rather light and wistful smile lined his equine lips as he drifted through the forests. Never inclined to follow a specific path, he meandered here and there with no particular direction in mind. Every now and then he would flick his heels up to dodge a fallen log or duck his head to ensure his horn did not become entangled. For the most part his morning had been uneventful but he did have to take into consideration the distance between himself and the meadows. As it had been with every year, the socialites lurked in the meadows and that would be where he would find his place in society once more. That being said, he was not adverse to finding company on his way there and with this thought firmly in his mind he pressed on, head held high and brow raised in his usual supercilious fashion.

It had been a rather long winter for Lils, as she stayed with her mentor in a cave called Sanctuary, and learned all about the lands she had exiled herself to, and even more about her passion and her calling of healing. Every bit of knowledge Embri offered her, she absorbed like a sponge and was hungry for more. But one thing that really stuck out in her mind was one of the facts that had been tossed her way almost carelessly. Healing was a way of life that demanded sacrifices, but she saw how lonely it was for her mentor, and didn't agree with the way she seemed to live almost as a hermit.

In her herd, before she came across the desert and mountains into the Kawani lands, she was taught that healers were special and set somewhat apart from others, and they were held accountable to different, higher standards, but they weren't gods. They could mingle amongst others and form attachments and even families if they were so inclined. But her mentor seemed to think and believe differently. She learned much and even grew somewhat. Now she felt confident and able to take care of herself- in fact now as well as thought. But she wasn't about to embrace a cold, loveless existence.

She smiled a bit as she thought of her mentor and contemplated just how much she'd gained. She was still slightly naive in some respects, after all she was still very young and only time and experience would be able to change that, but she owed a lot to the mare. And no matter how much their beliefs differed, she was fond of the blunt mare.

She shook her head slightly. It was no day to be caught inside her head and traveling the path of memories. It was a nice day, and she was a mare on a mission. She would go to the plains and try to find some company and a chance to socialise. For it seemed that, according to Embri, the plains were a place of great gatherings and activity, being well able to support large numbers of equines. Her features set in a small, almost grin, she picked up her pace. Eager to once again find pleasure in the company of more than one other.

What would the plains be like? Would they be similar to the home she'd left behind? Who would be gathered there? With these thoughts, her attention turned from her surroundings to the near future and what she might find. Lost in her musings, she didn't pay attention to where she was going.
