Everyone has a shadow. It follows them and haunts them and knows everything about them, everything... even the things they don't know. They watch as you lie, as you cheat, as you fall in love, they watch as you cry, and hurt. They watch you, and they remember all. Everyone has a shadow, the darkest parts of their existence, always following just a few steps behind... sometimes in front of you, leading the way, and sometimes consuming you... taking over every part of your mind... forcing you to breathe in the sore taste of life. No matter how fast you run, you cannot out run it. No matter how long you beg light will never consume it. Everyone has a shadow. It knows everything you do, and stands silently even as you die.

She can feel the heat on her face, as it burns the hair off her arms and tears into the very ends of her dark brown hair... it's been described as black tonight, but against the darkness of the night it screams out in it's color, marking her against the others. Of course it's her pale skin, stained here and there with blood and ash, that really pulls her apart from the group of men that slowly surround her.
These men are dressed in black, just as she is, but their skins are dark and their hair makes the night sky, starless and moon free tonight, glow with color.
However it is the man directly across from her... stepping away from the blaze and towards her like a creature straight out of hell itself... that has her attention the most.
He is tall and handsome, with short black hair that barely drapes down to the tips of his ears, and bright brown eyes that she had always been enchanted with. He is dressed exactly like her, only completely free of any dirt or blood. Clasped tightly in his right hand is a dagger, it's blade gleaming with the color of the inferno wrapping around them... the only opening now directly behind him... a path blocked off.
She is horrified, but feels nothing. Her heart is racing, yet at the same time she cannot feel it pulse. Her hands are shacking as she slowly puts her trusted katana back in it's sheath at her side. She is surrounded, and knows it all too well.
All she feels is the pain in her heart... the pain of being betrayed... a betrayal worse than any....
"Kaito...?" She can feel the words form on her lips, but hears nothing... and his lips curl in a horrifying grin that exposes his all too white teeth... all too white only in this darkness that is slowly consuming them.
She wants to reach out... touch him... kiss him all over... taste him all over... and yet she knows that he is here to do the worst to her... She can see it in his dark eyes, in his sharp and darker features.... She wants to run to him, beg him to save her... but she knows he is no longer even close to a savior... Before her stands the Angel of Death... her Angel of Death... and she can feel him come closer and closer... the dagger aimed for her heart...
He pulls her closely now, his left hand flat on the lower center of her back... pulling her to his chest.... She feels the pain, an overwhelming sensation when mixed with his scent... his sweet, sweet scent... and his touch... and the warm of his neck she can feel against her lips... and yet the pain is all consuming, and she no longer wants to fight.... She hates him, and yet she cannot...
She can feel the liquid, sticky and red, seeping into her shirt... and she is unable to hold onto him as he whispers into her ear... his words just as soft as ever, and yet hateful... and cruel...
"Good bye Chey. Better luck in hell."
He pushes her away, and she feels herself falling as he drifts away from her... her vision blurred and the world silent as it swallows her. She never feels her body hit the ground, and yet on her lips she hears a curse, a final curse. A crude word she's only ever said once, and only ever said to him, and then there is nothing.

She lies there... feeling nothing... not wanting to feel anything... the smoke gone, the fire gone... the world gone... and yet she's still thinking, her mind is still racing... she doesn't have a clue where she is... and yet at the same time she knows everything.... confused, and yet she despises him. That's all she can comprehend now, she despises him, and so she lies there... waiting... but unsure of what...
She assumes she's dead now... but she doesn't know...
All she knows... all she ever hopes to know now... is that she despises him.

Sin stood there on the hillside with his sword in the ground, he held his scythe in one hand and the head of damned soul in the other. The blood dripped from his scythe as he tossed the head down and looked at the girl down below, He could tell that she was a damned soul like him; forced to fight for the rest of eternity.

In an Infernal voice. " So this is another soul forced to fight, yet she has no strength to carry herself on anymore?" He said to himself as he ripped the sword from the earth.

She felt the presence almost instantly, her hunter instincts taking over at once as her mind rushed back to the battle she still hadn't realized was her last. In one swift movement she pushed herself up to her feet and drew her sword, facing the presence of the man. The snarl that was plastered on her lips faded almost instantly as it clicked in her head that this wasn't him... this wasn't the village that was burning... This wasn't... this wasn't right...
All of her energy drained from her as she fell to her knees, dropping her sword at her side... something she never dared to do before... her sword was simply another extension of herself, for it to touch the ground and risk dulling the blade was forbidden... and yet now it laid on it's side, untouched, next to her on the ground.
She sat there, on her knees... her fingers manically going to the pain in her chest... and meeting blood... and yet it didn't hurt anything... but the emotions raged in her... She felt tears build up in her eyes, and then a new rush of fury as she glared up at the new presence... her hand clumsily taking the hilt of her katana back in it's grip...
"Who in the hell are you!?" She shouted up at the man, needing to get back... needing to kill that worthless b*****d Kaito.

Sin smirked as he jumped from the cliff with sword and scythe in hand, he landed in front of her causing a tremendous shockwave. He got up from his prone stance and looked at her with those deep green infernal eyes.

"My Name is Sin, and I am the Overseer of the battlefields. You have suffered a mortal wound, you are in the Gardens now and there is no turning back. Whoever you have a grudge for will be here one day, and then you can kill him." Said Sin to the girl

She went silent... staring at him without a second idea of how to react... She had imagined this day many times... but it was always a great demon who brought her down, her hand clutched around it's heart so they died together.
This is how she saw the end... not by... not by him...
She stood slowly, and went through the motions of sheathing her sword; a slow and fluid motion that she used to practice just for the sake of comfort... She breathed softly, letting her heart rate match those of her movements.
She stood there, her hand once again returning to the wound between her breasts... but her eyes locked on her, her dark blue eyes with their piercing gaze... She despised her eyes, they betrayed her every emotion.
She studied him, trying to find something she wasn't even sure of in his face... and yet nothing came... She was oddly interested in this damned spirit... why was he here... where was here? Why was she here exactly... besides the obvious, but why not... with all the other dead souls... It was even possible that given other circumstances she would have found him attractive, rough and rugged... and yet... all she could see in her mind was Kaito's face, grinning at her.
No words would form in her head... not a one... despite all the questions racing around in her mind...

Sin knew that face, it was his face when he came here over a thousand years ago. He slammed the sword back into the ground and stared at her for a while, he noticed she kept putting her hand between her breast. He was attracted to her, but he preferred to stay alone.

"You what is your name? And from what lands did you hail from?" He asked

He approached her alittle keeping some distance not to frighten her, she was already alittle on edge from being in this place. Finally the head from before rolled over to him, and picked it up and tossed it into a pit far off into the distance.

She listened to him... but didn't respond right away... looking at her bloody fingers in a morbid curiosity... Oddly... she wasn't afraid of him... he didn't smell human, didn't feel human... and if he was demonic she had always trusted them over humans, despite the fact she made a living removing their heads from their bodies... She explained it to Kaito once in a way she'll never forget...

~~~~
I trust demons over humans because if they are angry, they will forever be angry, and if they are controlled they will forever be controlled. Humans aren't capable of that, always jumping between trust and distrust and hate and desire... they are too emotional... and it hurts my mind to try and understand it.
~~~~

"I'm Chey, and I come from... I'm not sure... we never actually called it anything... it was simply... home."
She laughed slightly under her breathe, her eyes still locked on her bloody hand... she was no longer bleeding... but what had stained followed her to hell... and she was sure if not a hole then a horrid scar was left in it's place...
"Home... how dare I call it such a thing... it was never a home. I lost my home when I was but a child... worthless creatures..."
She seemed to snap out of her, her dark blue eyes once again locking on him.
"But why in the hell am I telling you this?" Her tone sharpened, his figure too human for comfort... a scent that didn't match the body always infuriated and confused her overly sensitive mind.

Sin laughed as he accidentally let his wings expand out, it wasn't the first time that this Infernal being has showed his true form. He folded his wings back in and held a hand out.

"Home is where the heart is, I have been dead for over a thousand years and my home is the battlefield. I died in battle back in the Middle east during the time of the Crusades, there I became a Devil who would forever be doomed to the battlefields. But every soul comes here before they are judged and most of the time they aren't even judged and kept here for eternity. Those who stay are left to fantasize about other lives, that is what the after life is... anything you want, unless you did a heinous crime and are forced into Hell." He said to her as he forced out his demonic presence.

She watched him, a small grin curling up her lips.
"A human form demon... I like that. Me, I'm just a lonely human who despises her own race."
The grin faded as she looked around the empty wasteland around her.
"So... this isn't hell?" All she could think was 'I'm so doomed to hell it's not even funny... I don't even believe in a God...'
"...will they... come for me and drag me down into the infernal pit or can I simply chose to stay here for all eternity... though... eternity is a long time..."
She rambled on for a few seconds longer before stopping to take in a deep breathe... and then... without another word, she began to walk. She walked towards him, and then past him; feeling his presence closely and almost over whelmingly... he was warm, almost burning... and his scent was consuming... She couldn't figure out if it was because of her own overly sensitive senses... or if it was simply him.
She walked a few more paces, her back to him now... before stopping, and without turning addressing him again.
"What now? Where do I go from here... what do I do... do I live forever... stained with ash and mud and blood... or is there somewhere to go... others?"
She was right... she looked like s**t... and she honestly had no desire to spend eternity like this... Though she loved the thought of being alone... even if part of her hurt at the very thought... Alone... forever... no humans, thank god... but no Kaito either... He killed her... and yet... and yet... her heart hadn't stopped... not yet...
After all... hate is just as powerful as love.

Sin looked at her with his deep infernal eyes.

"If you belonged in hell then you would have gone there, but you are in the Garden. The Garden is where the souls of Humans go, the only reason I am here is because I oversee the Battlegrounds. But there are many others like you, alot of them find peace in the many places that are within these Hollowed grounds. But it is up to you now where you go, or you test your meddle against me?" He said as he pointed his massive sword at her

She sighed slightly, her hand going to the hilt of her sword before returning... limp at her side.
"I'm sorry... I have no desire to fight you."
She turned to look at him now, her dark blue eyes solemn and sad... such a pool of emotion it hurt to look at them... and she knew she couldn't hide it, and she hated it, but she didn't care any longer. Why should she care? She was dead now, and that was the end of it. Destined to be alone forever, walking in this desolate pit of the underworld and the afterlife... and she no longer cared. Why should she?
She took a deep breathe, slowly tasting the air around her. It was bitter, like cold earth, and with the most empty and helpless voice she had ever heard slip from her lips... spoke slowly to him, a single sentence.
"I'm not worth it."
Then, without waiting for a response... because she really didn't care... she turned once again and walked barely 100 feet before letting her body collapse to her butt... and she sat there, staring at nothing and thinking of nothing and yet unable to relieve the cloud of thoughts in her mind.
Eventually... maybe... she'd stand and figure out something... but she couldn't kill Kaito, and what good was slaughtering anything when they were already dead?
She ran her hand once again across the stain in her torn shirt, the hole between her breasts, and knew that if she ever did decide to stand again the first thing she would do was find clothes... there had to be clothes here in this 'fantasy'... right?

He still knew that look, even when he came here he couldn't fight either but it took a couple hundred years before he was able to.

He approached her as she sat there, and put a hand on her shoulder and looked on with her.

"If you want it, it will come.... I thought of these weapons and them came. So if you want a plate of Mutton then by the mysterious powers in here it will appear." He said as he turned and began to walk away

She felt his hand, warm and large and powerful, and listened to his voice, deep and powerful and yet a coldness she knew all too well.
"So all I have to do is think? It's supposed to be that easy?"
She laughed, loudly and dramatically on purpose before pushing herself to her feet and turning back to him.
"Do not mock me demon, I hardly doubt that if I just wish hard enough for a nice strong pair of red hakama, a nice white kimono, and a good bit of fine white bandages they'll just poof out of thin air just like that!"
She was practically shouting at him now, feeling deep in every bit of her being that he was simply making fun of her 'pathetic' human desires.

He turned around and looked at her, and made what she wanted appear in front of her a nice strong pair of red hakama, a nice white kimono, and a good bit of fine white bandages. He simply smirked and stood there waiting for her reaction, it was just like showing a child a new toy.

"Don't mock it until you try it Human, and for your information I was a human at one point..." He said to her

She stood there, her eyes wide and locked on the clothes.
"My god... how in the hell..."
She walked forward, running her fingers across the material as if lost in a trance... the thread tight and think against her flesh.
"And their quality... it's amazing..."
She wrapped a few of the bandages around the clothes and then held them against her in her arms, her eyes once again locked on him, his comment about once being a human making no difference to her... one, she was never sorry and two he was a demon now so his past made no difference.
"Well now... what about a river? I need a river to wash."
