So, anybody have the game already?! If so, I've no clue why you're here instead of playing it. Post your first impressions on it! Just remember, spoilers = bad.

I just got home and my strategy guide from Amazon was waiting for me. But my stupidface brother won't drive me to the mall yet, so no actual game. Should have just gotten that on Amazon, too. stare

I just got it this afternoon! I live in Germany so even though we're an American base, we got to buy the game six hours earlier than the US east coast (doesn't make much of a difference, but it makes me feel better since we get everything late).

What really really sucks though is that it's tuesday and I'm not allowed to play video games during the week (started when we actually bought an N64 when I was like in elementary school and I wouldn't do my school work; the rule doesn't bother me much though since I'm usally busy with school work anyways and it keeps me from getting distracted), so I've got to wait till friday to play it (I'm still working on my mom to let me play thursday since I know I won't have much homework).

I did manage to sneak in watching the intro to the menu and all I've got to say is pretty, very very pretty. The Japanese are known for their athestics and this game is no exception. Most of the cutscenes seem to be pre-rendered which gives it that beautiful edge that XII kinda missed out on (I found XII to be very flat and polygony...that's a new word stare ...).

To keep myself from clicking "new game" I had to physically pinch myself and mentally think about the fact that it was 10 at night and I still had to take a shower and finish up my math homework. I can't even describe how excited I am and the only thing I've got to tide me over in the meantime is the instruction booklet and its beautiful screenshots...sad as it seems. I'll probably have it memorized in a day.

I'll make sure to come back here though and type up a spoiler-free first impression since I'll probably have no one else to fan-girl it with (my sister's at college and my best friend/video game partner moved). I just had to type something up though since I'm so excited.

Awww, that sucks! I'd be begging my mom like crazy for an exception if I had a rule like that. I technically have a lot of homework too, but... eh, I always manage to finish it. sweatdrop

I got it, though! Ummm, things that have come to mind?

-The dialogue is a little better than the subbed trailers would suggest.
-The menu is pretty!
-I like the camera and the options they give you.
-The little dialogues in the corner of the screen work better than I expected.
-Does Hope's mom's little pendant look like Reks's to anyone else? If so, that's a neat little Easter Egg, seeing as as far as I can see right now, they serve similar purposes.
-The word "hero" is used just a touch too often.
-The placement of the speaker's name when you have it on during dialogue is kind of annoying.
-I love the datalog. Background information is ^_^.
-Sazh is hilarious.
-Map is very handy.
-It's nice that the save screen defaults to a new slot. No more saving over other people's files!
-Vanille is a very bad influence.
-OH MY GOSH NO IT'S THE PHAROS. eek

And I think that's all I've got right now! It kind of feels weird seeing all of the scenes we're so used to from the trailers actually put into context. xd

Well I got lucky with no homework and well here are my thoughts...

-Certain events came faster than expected but I'm not sure if its good or bad
-Snow annoys me xD But just the right amount
-Vanille is adorable!
-Hope is adorable
-VanillexHope is adorable xD
-As complexish as it is I love the battle system! It just gets you more into everything I suppose
-Unlike most I do not mind not being able to go to cities/towns or whatever...
-I am extremely happy my bro isn't allowed to play on weekdays so I get it all to myself [until the weekend]

and if your wondering why I am here my eye's were getting strained and I got stuck [In that fight in the ruins area against the piscom(?) soliders and executor razz But when I go back everything will be better! ]

OH GOD, after reading that, I need to buy this game D=
PostPosted: Tue Mar 09, 2010 10:36 pm

Mmm, I could definitely see some HopexVanille there... but Vanille acts too much like a mom, I think. A really BAD mom ["Hey, you want to tell that guy something? C'mon, let's go steal a flying bike and risk our lives where the big bad thing everyone hates lives. I'm sure what you have to say is that important. No, I don't want o know what it is or anything."], but she treats Hope like a little kid, basically. I have trouble seeing a relationship when she actually bends over to talk to him. sweatdrop

*sigh* I got off to let my brother play, and he passed me already...

I guess xD But I liked them prior to the game coming out so it kind of just stuck there smile But yeah she does act like a Mom... Though she is cute but sometimes a bad influence without trying (she doesn't realize she's doing it) like when [she shows her mark or whatever and its on her thigh like high up on her thigh xD but I had to laugh at Snow's reaction there! It was hilarious ]
Aww sad Well my brother can't pass me (not allowed to play video games on weekdays) :S he actually thinks I'll beat it before him o.O and he is like gamer...xD Though my brother is so mean to the characters even though its kind of funny ! ex. To him Hope is like 5 years old (psh Hope is close to his age!) and Vanille [Looks 19 but is really 519 anyway I was basing it off her looks] is 7 years old (PSH! She's older than him in more ways than one) -.-

I haven't played much but the game seems good. The graphics are obviously gorgeous and the characters are interesting.

The only things I'm not a great fan of (at least at the moment anyways) is the lack of the ability to use all party members during a battle (they actually put in a very interesting new way of fighting which incorporates all the characters but I don't know...I kind of miss having the power to tell my team to attack, use items, or any other option).
The other thing I don't like is there doesn't appear to be a world map anymore....That kills it a little for me gonk

But whatever, aside from that things look good. The storyline has intrigued me so that's a great start. xd

I don't mind not being able to use everyone; it makes Paradigms much simpler. I just hate when I can't have a Commando in my party; it's such a pain...

I do miss the world maps, but I kind of understand why they've not entirely viable anymore... but it makes me feel like I don't know the world as well; it's harder to see how everything fits together.

WHOO, got my copy (a few days ago xD).

Well~ this is kinda late, but whatever, I'll do it anyways:

This game is so pretty! The enviroments kind of remind me of X - they've got the same colour schemes, with ruined machines lying about. The battle system is easy to understand, if a little slow. Everything seems too easy, though - I mean, I've died several times, but more because I wasn't paying attention or suddenly overwhelmed.

Yayyyy, congrats! Soooo, what chapter? It does seem a little easier than most of the others, but it has gotten steadily harder for me since the beginning, I think.

And yes, very pretty. heart

I'm on chapter 5 right now. So far it's all seemed very straight forward and easy, so I'm hoping it gets harder as it goes on. I think if there were a higher encounter rate it'd seem harder and longer, but right now it seems like I'm just racing through areas.

Ah, it does; don't worry. I never really thought about the encounter rate. I like being able to explore more, and then it I want to fight more, just go backwards a bit. It's nice that they respawn pretty quickly.
