•Name: Path of the Dragon •Preferred Nicknames: Mete, Metem and Dragon •Age: 21 (Er...will be, anyway. On June 27th xD) •Current Status: Attending college full time, Working nights on weekends •RPing for: Over 8 years •Preferred style: Past Tense; Third Person; Proper Grammatical Structure •Likes: Literacy, Respect, Attention to detail, People who keep OOC conflicts OOC Planning, Having fun •Dislikes: People who make OOC conflict IC conflict, Pointless antagonism, Godmodding
•Understand that 90% of the time, I operate on a semi-literate to literate roleplay standard. I expect at least one paragraph per post (4 - 6 sentences) If you find you are having a hard time coming up with something, take your time, or simply explain that you are having writers block. Be wary with this, however, as I will not be very amused if every second post is two sentences with a writers block excuse attached. Also, no use of ChatSpeak will be accepted - it makes me want to stab my eyes out and I happen to like my eyes. Thanks.
•No Godmodding will be permitted in any shape or form when I roleplay with anyone. If you do this, I will tell you and wait until the post is modified. My characters are my own and are not to be controlled by others unless I give express permission beforehand - and the same is to be said of yours. I don't mind if you want to knock my character silly, but ask me first. You will note that I always ask, no matter how small a thing it may seem. Please extend me the same courtesy.
•Avoid clairvoyance (Reading a characters thoughts and having your character respond to them, or having your character know things you as a player know but the character should not)
•Mary Sue's and Larry Stu's are a peculiar thing for me. They make me want to laugh in mockery, cry in shame at humanity, and exhibit horrible violence upon them all at once. Its an odd mixture of emotion, let me tell you. So, please avoid playing Mr. / Mrs. Perfect with me. I prefer being of a stable mindset.
•For the love of God, leave the OOC in the OOC. If there's something going on that has you needing to talk to me, (Either you're mad at me, concerned for me, annoyed with life in general) don't take it out on my characters through yours. Address the situation or separate yourself from it. There's no reason to ruin a roleplay just because OOC / IRL sucks. Take a break for awhile then come back to it, if you need to, and remember I'm more than willing to hear you out if you just need to vent a bit - but in a strictly OOC fashion.
•Romance is not my top priority. While I don't mind romance, I don't think it should be the #1 only awesome reason for roleplay, orz. =.= I love character development and believe in natural forming relationships with my characters. In the event I do agree to a romantic relationship, it will be discussed OOCly first and it should be noted that I do mostly Male x Male pairings, as I play those the best, but I am open to Male x Female. Female x Female I simply can't do. I've tried, but I can't.
•Respect me, and I guarantee you will receive the same courtesy. I'm actually a very friendly person and very open minded, so please don't feel put off by my rules. These are just things I put up cause after all my years of roleplaying, I have gone through some pretty horrific stuff and I'd really like to avoid repeating those same experiences of utter fail, y'know? XD I like to have fun and enjoy myself and I like to surround myself with people who have the same values - so lets have fun together and get to know one another and the characters, shall we? ^_^

Representative Color: Blue •Name: Requiem
•Meaning: A hymn, song, composition, or service for the dead.
•Gender: Female
•Age: 47
•Parents: Unknown
•Children: Seridus (Adopted)
•Significant Other: Mated to Dirge; Will either be searching for someone to play him, or will create him myself
•Homeland: Mountains •Personality: Requiem is the alpha female of her pack and has exceptional leadership qualities, if fairly dictatorial. She is a powerful presence and very sly and manipulative. Although not the most physically strong, her intellect by far makes up for anything she may be lacking. She can be vicious with her words and can tear apart ego or even heart with her tongue, or she can create confidence and heal with her words. Although she is not quick to anger, she will not end a feud until she has won it completely and the last word is hers. She can hold a grudge for years and is very vindictive, often striking at the moment when it is least expected. She is a firm believer in the saying that vengeance is a dish best served cold.
•Likes: Being right, Hunting, Winning and taking care of young ones
•Dislikes: Being challenged, Fear, Shakaiyo who abandon their young
•Character Relations: Seridus, Dirge and her pack (Pack coming soon!) Requiem was born and raised in the pack life, back during the times when the Wilder Shakaiyo, as they referred to themselves, were reaching the end of forming territories. Battles were less often fought for the best areas of food, shelter and water since most of the territories had been established, but border battles were still high. Her true parents are questionable even in her own mind, as at the time, the wilder Shakaiyo held multiple mates to increase their pack size in order to hold on to better territories.
The first few years of Requiem's life were hard and trying as the border establishments were reaching completion. She had the makings of a leader even then, often sneaking off to observe border patrols and occasionally getting herself involved in the fights. Her determined and keen nature was seen in good light, and was nurtured by the pack elder of the time. She was pulled away from the rest of the young and taught the Legend, something passed on only to those with the skills to lead. In the Wild lands, many Shakaiyo had long forgotten their roots and had become too earthbound to understand them. The pack mentality was strong in many of them and it was for the leaders and elders to pick out those who had the higher minds and teach them the truth about their heritage. Shakaiyo were much more than what they had become in this part of the world, and the wisest leader would be the one who would some day bring their pack back to the truth. Until then, Shakaiyo had to be chosen carefully.
Requiem bore the knowledge well, taking to the alternative training that would give her the skills to rule her own pack in the future. By the time she was fully trained, the borders were all established and the clans were no longer in constant war with one another. Peace settled upon the wilder Shakaiyo and territories were treated with respect by other clans.
The time came, however, for the clans to make sub territories in their lands, as the main pack became too large. This time was a troubling one for many, as splitting up caused considerable in-fighting. Many Shakaiyo left the mountains to be free of this lifestyle and try and find their roots, causing great panic to the elders, for it left them with very few educated Shakaiyo and many wild ones.
For the first time since the clans were created, all the elders called for a meeting of the clans. Every Shakaiyo in the territory region gathered together for a meeting that changed all of their lives.
Each clan brought forward one male and one female alpha candidate, and it was at this point that Requiem and Dirge first met one another. They were from two of the fiercest rivaling clans and disliked one another on principle.
The elders introduced their candidates and listed their qualities to the assembled Shakaiyo, before then pairing them with another alpha who made the best balance. Requiem and Dirge found themselves paired, and when they met eyes they both seemed to realize what was coming next. Despite their rivalry, the two of them were wise enough to accept the decision as it was passed down from the elders.
The pairs made would lead new clans. As the families were less than half of their original sizes after so many had fled, the assembled were given the right to choose their alpha team for themselves. From that day forward, they would be a pack and they would work together.
For some clans, this did not work out well and eventually those packs dwindled, either from desertion, in-fighting, or lack of food due to the inability to co-operate. For Requiem and Dirge, however, things were precisely the opposite. Their clan thrived, and more and more of their clan was taught the truth of the Shakaiyo, causing more and more to leave, or to stay and keep the pack all the stronger and wiser.
Today, Requiem and Dirge's pack consists of many adults, over half of which are aware of the truth about Shakaiyo. The others are wild, true wolf-minded and loved, nevertheless. The pack takes care of even its wildest members, and has little trouble in adopting those who are cast out from other clans, or lost. This pack is one of the three remaining in the mountain regions and has a large territory, causing little need for fighting. Of the three packs, it is the middle rank for knowledge of Shakaiyo legend, but in the highest for loyalty. Requiem and Dirge are ambitious leaders, determined to find a way for Shakaiyo to live peacefully in the Otherworld while still remaining fully aware and connected to their true roots in the Spiritworld. They have found a deep loyalty and a form of love for one another after so many years of working for this common goal.

•Siblings: Symphony (Coming soon)
•Significant Other: Requiem
•Children: Seridus (Adopted)
•Homeland: Mountains •Personality: Dirge is a quieter power than his mate, with a deeply protective nature and a greater capacity for forgiveness. Representative Color: Black •Name: Seridus
•Meaning: Derived of Latin terms combined for a personalized meaning, essentially being Night song/Night singer
•Gender: Male
•Age: 27
•Parents: Unknown
•Children: None
•Significant Other: None
•Homeland: Mountains •Personality: Seridus has a darkly majestic presence, at once quiet and commanding in his bearing. He has an innate understanding of the land and is a keen observer, which often makes him appear as though he knows more than he does. He reads the actions of others as much as he listens to their words, and tends to communicate in seemingly mysterious and manipulative ways.
•Likes: Hunting, Exploring and Learning
•Dislikes: Hostility, Coyotes, and Mud
•Character Relations: Requiem - Mentor and parental figure Seyton - Friend Seridus' time in his basket was slightly troubled in the beginning. Something happened while he was developing that caused his parents to abandon the small cave where they had him stowed away, leaving him bereft of anything but his connection to the spirit world. He grew alone but for those quiet whispers, feeling a coldness inside that he did not understand. He was lonely and afraid in the darkness, knowing that the day would come when he would have to leave the only company he had ever known. He did not know how he would survive alone and grew more and more cold with each passing day.
As his development came close to completion, his basket was discovered by Requiem, who laid herself beside the basket and began to speak. As her voice filtered through to him, even though he didn't fully understand her words yet, Seridus began to grow warmer and warmer. There was only silence when he slept after that and by the time he was ready to emerge, Seridus felt warm all over.
When he came out, Requiem wasted little time in cleaning him up, tucking him between her forepaws and giving him a thorough bath that, for some reason, caused the young Shakaiyo to feel as though he was being marked as her own.
After this, Requiem drew him away from the basket and began to teach him ways of survival. The first year, they never strayed too far from where his basket was, which perhaps awarded Seridus a higher sensitivity to his roots. That was Requiem's reasoning, in any case.
After that year passed, Requiem drew Seridus away from his basket and introduced him to some of the other Shakaiyo in the territory. There were eight adults and four young ones - two of which, Seridus and one other- had been taken in by the group of adults who referred to themselves as a pack.
In many ways, Requiem's family - for that's who these Shakaiyo were, even if not all of them were blood related - behaved very similarly to wolves. There was a hierarchy of order, laws to be followed, punishments for breaking them and territory to protect. What was more, they also hunted as a team. Certain members of the pack - Requiem's elder brother in particular - were much more wolf-like than the others and were often violent and abrasive at times, teaching the young ones by way of bites and cuffs and by letting them get hurt in an effort to try something rather than explain how it ought to be done.
The two elders and Requiem were different, being very keen intellectuals and viciously sharp witted. They often fought their battles with words and ruled the pack with wisdom and firm paws. Requiem was the mate of the male elder and the alpha female figure of the pack whose fights with her brother often left the others in awe of her. She could plot circles around the male and make him bite his own tail once she was finished with him. Seridus always kept himself closest to Requiem and the elders, learning how to use his mind rather than his paws to get what he wanted out of life. She was a harsh mentor, but she brought him up the best way she knew how and gifted him with all the skills he would need to survive well in their section of the mountains.
As Seridus grew, he developed the skills desirable in a pack leader and found himself facing Requiem's brother as an opponent. The elder Shakaiyo felt threatened by the star-marked adopted son and began working to try and have Seridus cast from the pack. He made two indirect attempts on Seridus' life, but was outwitted on both occassions, which caused the elder to call Seridus out to fight before the rest of the pack. Terms were laid that the one who lost would have to leave the pack and that the fight would be won by the first to nick his opponent's throat.
These sorts of fights were always risky, especially when called out in anger, for too often a Shakaiyo of wolven quality would go too far with them. Few other Shakaiyo ever even called for these sorts of battles, but Seridus was not one to back from a challenge. He accepted and fought his adoptive uncle fiercely, finding himself truly frightened for his life when the elder took him by the throat and clamped down, teeth piercing through. As his uncle proceeded to shake him even after he submitted, Seridus knew that the other was indeed attempting to kill him and reacted on instinct, slamming his hind claws into the soft under belly of the other and clawing viciously.
After his uncle released him, Seridus had backed away and opted to leave the pack, knowing that the wound he had just dealt was fatal. He was sent off with mixed gazes from his adoptive family - some were hostile, others held respect, but the most shocking was Requiem's, which held only pride.
Seridus spent the next three years living alone off the mountain lands and mastering the art of hunting alone. He avoided other Shakaiyo and stayed off land he knew to be marked by pack-minded types. So it was entirely by accident that Seridus came to know Seyton.
The two met during a thunderstorm, having happened to choose the same cave to shelter from it. The red-furred Shakaiyo was huddled in a tight ball, shivering and crying out with fear at every strike of lightning and roll of thunder, causing a protectiveness to raise up in Seridus. Seyton had been too frightened at the time to try and scare Seridus off, and was actually relieved to have the larger Shakaiyo curl up around him and bathe the top of his head. It was calming and a much more gentle experience than Seyton had ever had, listening to Seridus voice rumble slowly and calmly in his ear, reassuring him throughout the storm. Seyton fell asleep after the storm ended, feeling comfortable enough around Seridus as a result of the larger one`s patience to trust that nothing would happen as he slept.
When Seyton awoke, Seridus had left, and the two never spoke of what happened when they met again. They worked together several times for various reasons and although Seridus saw enough of Seyton`s interactions with others to know the red-furred Shakaiyo seemed to hate everyone around him, the two continued to get along fairly well.
A year ago, Seyton hunted down Seridus and told him he was leaving the mountains to try and cross the desert. He did not say why, only that he wanted to say goodbye. Seridus made no attempt to stop him and they have not seen each other since then.
