Okay, I bet a lot of you have wondered, "Why the f*ck is Eyes On Me playing for Squall and Rinoa? I thought it was Julia's song for Laguna!" Well, here's your answer: Rinoa is Julia's daughter, and Squall is Laguna's son! If that's not clear enough, then think about it some more. Soon after Laguna leaves, his pregnant wife dies at the birth of her child. Ellone and that child were sent to an orphanage, as they had no parents or guardians to take care of them. That was the very same orphanage Squall grew up at, and Squall used to call Ellone "big sis", showing that he sharing a sibling-like relationship with her. Julia, on the other hand, married General Callaway, who we know as Rinoa's father. Therefore, from this information, we can only assume that Squall is the son of Laguna and Raine(which would explain that part of the ending), and that Rinoa is the daughter of Julia and general Callaway. This is definitely why Eyes On Me plays for romantic scenes between Rinoa and Squall. Here are two examples of when it is played: aboard the Ragnarok, and during the ending. any questions?

Isn't this common knowledge?
I thought the game made it perfectly clear that Laguna Loire & Raine were Squall's parents and that General Caraway & Julia Heartilly were Rinoa's parents.

Well it was 100% clear that General Caraway and Julia were Rinoa's parents. It was also pretty clear that Laguna and Raine were Squall's parents but it never actually says it right out in the open that they are his parents....they just give you a lot of hints that point to that opinion. You just know they are his parents by using logic (and the fact that Kiros makes certain comments at the end of the game that kind of prove it to you that Laguna is in fact Squall's father)

( the one when squall first meets rinoa onboard the train) it also appears in other forms during the game.

I think the most memorable time for 'Eyes On Me', I believe on the Ragnarok, before Squall and Rinoa return to the planet. Tho' it has been a while since I played that far into FFVIII, tho' I am playing it again. biggrin
And I also thought it was general knowledge... maybe it's not so obvious to some people as it was to others?
