I've been job hunting for well over a year now, turned in over 100 applications to anyplace you can think of and I still live on whatever pocket change people give me. Don't get me wrong, I have a house (I live with my parents) but I'd like a little money so I could actually do something.

skittlemaster42 Perhaps you could change your job hunting tactics? Ive only had two jobs (out of 6) that i didnt know anybody going into. I've used every tactic there is. The problem is they all want someone with experience, which I don't have because I'm looking for my first job.

My boyfriend is having the same issue. He's been without work for eight months. either he's overqualified or under-qualified, so no one will hire.

My brother and I are in the same boat, sadly. This is why we've decided to invest our money and time into starting our own business and we know we'd enjoy it a lot more. We also both live at home with our mom, but our income is limited by what she gets from social security and other places. We hope to have the business running soon (like June).
My uncle thinks we're entering another depression (much like the US faced in the 1930s after The Great Depression in 1929). All we can do is keep trying and hope for the best I suppose.

...And I complain about my part-time job....sorry to hear your having such a hard time. Just keep on trying, don't get discouraged! If need be, volunteer to get some experience then apply for a job.

Don't worry you'll find one soon enough. It took me well over a year to get the job I have now.

Try looking for a job around these parts. I live waaay out in the boonies, where it was hard to get a job long before the recession hit. I've been unemployed for two years and relying on a government grant to cover college tuition, so I'm definitely on the same boat as you are.
Keep at it, Phy. You'll get it, eventually. 3nodding

Clean criminal record? High school graduate? Age 18 to 42? Needing some discipline in your life? The military is generally hiring!

i sort of live with my parents too
i call it "rent" coz i get a floor to myself
with a bath
and i cook and clean for them
and care for their musty old dog
and pay some cash, but admittedly not a lot.
i got my part time nanny job by word of mouth, i feel that's the best way, just ask people for contacts, and ask them to ask others, it's worth a try
