Abortion has become a very large controversial topic. What's your view of it?
My opinion: I think it's wrong!! ...Period. I think its murder...murder of a tiny innocent helpless child. I don't care if the pregnancy was unplanned or an accident!! If the mother was dumb enough to take the chances of getting pregnant in the first place, then she should have deal with the consequences. I think the ONLY reason an abortion should take place is if the mother's life is in grave danger with having the baby, or if a very young child became pregnant because of rape.

Its someone's OWN decision! Who are we to say what is right and wrong? Abortion isn't murder.

And let me say that in a way, you are accepting it and saying it is right. Its not right for some people. Its right for everyone. Your opinion is very harsh...

Ok... in a way I do think it's right. (you have a point there) However, I do NOT think it is right for a woman who got pregnant to just go and have an abortion just because she didn't want to have a baby. In my opinion, the only reasons an abortion should take place is if the mother is in danger of dying from carrying a baby or if a young child became pregnant because of rape.

Yeah i agree with the fact that it's that persons choice, because it takes a LOT of hardwork to raise a child. with money and time. it's truly that persons choice. Either way, i have my personal views and that is if that child were to die of an abortion, they would go to heaven, that soul would be given to another family who wants a baby.

I try and stress my beliefs about it. I am pro-life... they baby should be born no matter the situation... unless the mother was raped, but if it's teenage pregnancy or something, they do have to deal with consequences, it was their choice. No baby should pay the consequences for the mothers mistake. I also agree it's murder... people go to jail for murder... how is this any different? neutral

Abortion is murder. It is a growing life. A baby gets their heart beat around 4 to 5 weeks. Abortions can take the child after that so it is murder. The baby is living and breathing. Its not right to do. It should only be done unless it will endanger the life of the mother at the birth. If people think 'oh I don't want to deal with raising a child' thats what adoption centers are for. People should be responsible and use protection or just not have sex at all.

Here's my issue with many of those who hold pro-life views:
1. Most DO NOT support comprehensive and age-appropriate sex education which INCLUDES abstinenence. 2. Most DO NOT support affordable and accesssible family planning services, which includes access to birth control.
3. Most DO NOT support affordable pre and post-natal care, especially for families on limited incomes.
4. Most DO NOT support adoption by gay, lesbian and cross-racial families and single parents.
5. Most DO NOT support better housing, education and health services for children.
It's very easy to talk about "the sanctity of life" in abstract terms, but how can anyone live with the fact that in many cities in this country, the infant mortality rate is equal to that of many Third World countries because too many women do not have access to decent health care? Every child born--regardless of race, gender, creed, etc.--should be wanted and loved and respected. Nothing breaks my heart more than hearing of abused and neglected children who become numbers in the system or innocent lives on a mortuary slab.
Also, it takes TWO to make a baby, but it's always the woman who takes the brunt of everyone's anger. If I had my way, I'd make teenage fathers get a job and support the children they helped to create, the same way adult fathers have to support the children they helped to create.
I respect the right of people to be "pro-life", but actions speak louder than words and if one does not work to insure a world where every child born has a place and a fair chance at a decent life, then I find that being hypocritical.
By the way, I support ALL those items on the list and I mentor high school kids. As a pro-choice woman, it's not academic for me. I want a world where ALL children are thought of as our greatest resource and where abortion is a last resort--to save the life of a mother or for a victim of rape or incest.
Peace.

I do have to agree... i never liked the idea of abortion. I mean, its your own child.. and your child will never be able to live their own life...

No matter the reason why she got pregnant, a woman has the right to not put her body through that. Plus, the world is overpopulated.

If it was my choice I'd say no to abortion because I've seen what an abortion is. Firstly, they cut the umbilical cord off and then proceed to pull the baby out limb by limb. One can only imagine the baby going through such pain of having his or her legs pulled apart from the body continued by the arms and such. It is truly a horrible thing to witness. I'll bet you guys know where I stand o this topic. -peace-

I think it is wrong. I am a traditionalist in some ways, because I believe people shouldn't be having sex until they are married. Marriage and sex should be something looked upon as sacred. I understand cases such as rape victims but at that point they should see a doctor and take measures to make sure the embryo doesn't get a chance to grow at all. I think it is horrid that kids in middle school are having sex. I was a senior in high school when I heard about a middle school giving out condoms and birth control.
