Mmm...There was nothing better than chocolate on a (relatively) warm winter day, especially when that chocolate had peppermint in it. Yush. Excellent. Ichiku peered out onto the busy streets of Elysium from his perch atop a stack of wooden crate, shifting a little to adjust the collar of his jacket. The buildings he was sitting between offered just enough shelter to keep the icy wind out, meaning that the Dou was contentedly warm. Plus he had chocolate. That was an added bonus. Nibbling on the bar of peppermint and chocolate-y goodness he'd "relieved" a vendor of only moments ago, 'Ku let his green eyes wander. Nobody on the street at this time of day. Correction: nobody interesting on the street at this time of day. There were always people about - this was Elysium - but that didn't mean that all of them were interesting. Finishing off the last of his chocolate, Ichiku pocketed the wrapper and gave his fingers a few, searching licks. Darn. No more chocolate. Now what was he going to do?
Life had been getting duller by the day, which was saying something when it came to our favourite stripey Dou. Ichiku almost always had something to do, whether it be a job or something he found on his own. But today, and the three days prior to that, he had had nothing to do except sit on his stack of crates and watching all the world and his brother walk by. It got rather tiring. Three days, he had tried to amuse himself by counting how many people were wearing red shoes. That hadn't worked too well, since he had fallen asleep halfways through the game and missed the only person who wore red shoes that day. Not a very productive activity and, consequentially, Ichiku dropped that idea quite quickly. Two days ago the stripey Dou had made faces at businessmen through the windows of their meeting room, though that hadn't gone well either. The security guards were outside in record time, and 'Ku had been forced to flee back to his beloved stacked crates. And, yesterday, he had attempted to see how many people would trip if he tossed a can into the middle of the street. Even that had only been amusing for so long. Today, he was completely out of ideas. And he didn't even have a job for today...
"Hey you with the fuzzy ears."
Right on cute. Ichiku's ears perked. Looking down, he found a short, rather plump man looking up at him. "All ears! Starry?" For a moment, the man looked extremely confused. Sigh. You'd think people would understand a little slang around here. Jeez. The Dou rolled his eyes, and repeated. "Starry! What's the starry?" His new "client" seemed to understand this a little better, and cleared his throat. "Well...you see... I believe that my friend heard something he wasn't supposed to and-" "Stall d' ball! You ain't steamin' are ye? I'm nobody's mercenary. The hack eh that! An' I ain't keen on gutting some Jonner, anyways. Now, go back te ye fambly and just make up wit' 'em!" Grumbling about "Eejits and their wily ways", Ichiku went back to staring at the street. Maybe today he should could how many people were wearing brown shoes. Ooh look, there went one person now. One....two...
