My two ratties wrestle quite a bit. Sometime one of them squeaks really loud and it frightens me. Are they still just playing? They are both girls by the way.

The general rule is: "No blood, no foul!"
As no one is seriously bleeding, they are fine. Mine still wrestle and squeak loudly too.

Before Daisy passed away my other girl Houdini would pick fights with her all the time because she was younger . The only time I got really worried is when there was ALOT of squeeking and she'd have Daisy pinned and going for the throat/belly . But like Zenia Wulfe said no blood , no foul. But it couldn't hurt to check in on them on occasion .

Mine two rat sisters do that all the time. as was said, its a general rule; no blood, no foul. as long as they're not hurting each other, they're just fooling around wink

I've got 2 brothers and all they do is wrestle and squeak. As long as there are not going at each others throats or tummy's its ok. Every once in a while I find scabs but thats due to their little nails. Usually they're just playing or power grooming.

I have a couple of whiners who like to squeak at the drop of a hat. I also had to go through a very long intro phase (involving having to stop lots of real fights) when I got my current alpha, because she is a big bully. So my own rule is no raised hackles & no screaming, no foul. There is a very big volume difference between a scream and a squeak. The raised hackles (and posturing) are a dead giveaway.

I agree with everyone else, sounds like just good fun :p my female rats never wrestle though, just chase each other o.O I've only had my male rats wrestle all the time. Odd.

With the pinning- that is also a sign of showing dominance over the other. Mine would do this all the time, till finally Spirit got so tired of it she drop-kicked her sister, Shadow down the ramp of the cage. Shadow never tried to show dominance again..lol. Again, no blood, no foul.

I used to freak when my girls wrestled too. But when I went to check on them, they would always be like "What mommy? We just cleaning eachother." in a caught in the act way. xp
