I buy my music from Amazon.com. I don't even consider sites like Napster, because I may not be able to afford the monthly fee one month and then...Boom! All of my music is gone. Or, Heaven forbid, I don't log in soon enough. I have over 1600 songs. I can't afford crap like that! Anyways, I don't use iTunes either because I've had so many problems with them that I've never been able to download so much as ONE song from them. Then my computer is slow, so having to wait for each page to load is like waiting on a game level. BLEH!!
With Amazon.com though, I can pick my list of songs and leave them to download while I do other stuff. Then I exit Internet Explorer and let it finish while I'm sleeping. If I encounter any problems, I just email them and they give me access to it again. Quick and simple.
However, I'm asking this question, because I hear that a lot of people hate iTunes, but they use it anyway. So, I just want to know if this is for real. If you use something else entirely, what and why? Seriously, I'm curious to know where the majority of us get our music.

I actually still buy CD's and Vinyl. There's something to be said about a person's taste in music just by the hard evidence of the artwork itself around a room. Which always seemed weird to me about buying an MP3 because.. to me, I would rather see the album art and whatnot when I find it on my shelf than.. in some folder on my computer. Of course that's just me. I am a bit of a traditional person when it comes to my shelves of music.
But I can't say I have ever even bought an MP3 online, just because of the different things that come with them. possible identity theft, finding yourself downloading illegally and paying for it, not supporting bands, etc. And iTunes quality is generally horrid and usually compressed down to the smallest file they could make it to where it is just over the "crap" scale, which is one of the reasons I don't buy MP3. That and as you said before, if I lose it... I lose over 4k in music. Really? I mean.. some files can't even be backed up and whatnot because they are protected from that. So why bother?

When I do buy music it's on iTunes, I've never gotten it anywhere else. But I don't buy music very often. I get it from friends and CD's that I buy or find in old boxes around my house. I have never had any trouble with iTunes or heard of anybody having trouble with it. Of course, I haven't been around the block that many times in this situation...
