"Every scar is a lesson...

So, I learned to play Magic: The Gathering several months ago, my ex-girlfriend and her family taught me how to play and helped me build some decks. Tons of fun, we often played matches of Magic that would last several hours.

Lo and behold, things didn't work out, we broke up, most of my IRL friends chose her side, depression set in, I didn't leave the house for anything that wasn't necessary for months, and I threw my cards aside to gather dust.

About a week ago, I walked to Gamestop (Gotta get steps on my pokewalker somehow, and I needed a new case for my copy of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle) and while I'm walking by a friends house, he steps outside and calls me in. I walk into his house and am amazed by the fact that he's got Magic cards scattered EVERYWHERE.

I go to hang out with him today, and he introduced me to some friends to play Magic with. Not only did I get to play Magic, but someone gave me a stack of Magic cards as tall as a soda can.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I'm a bit hyper. I'm currently up to my elbows in Magic cards, building and editing decks. xd

Anyone else in here play Magic: The Gathering?

My husband used to play. We still have his cards around somewhere... Anyway, he doesn't play anymore because he used to play when the game first came out, he even judged tournaments, then they changed the deck designs and the cards so that all of the new cards massivly overpowered the ones that were from the original game and expansions. It also made all of his cards basically worthless. He just didn't want to start from scratch all over again.
He did teach me how to play with the old cards, but I never won unless he let me sweatdrop and with no one else to play with it got a little stale.

I played on and off during high school and college. My decks were mostly green-white or green-black, depending on my mood.

Ahh, those were the days. Sometimes I wouldn't mind diving into my cards and building a new deck just for fun.

I was never in to playing cards myself...
Although, my room mate played a bit. He's been looking
to play again. Hmm.. I really don't have much to say
on the subject.
If anything, I found the artwork on the cards interesting lol

My deck is worthless for this same reason. If i get a good hand, i can defeat a new deck, but otherwise I can't stand a chance.

Green-White-Black decks FTW.

At any rate, I know there is a MTG club at my school, but I never remember to go check it out.

I've got three decks, working on building a fourth. I've got my sliver deck, a green and white deck, and a black and red deck. I'm trying to build an elf deck, but I don't have enough elves for that. I may settle for now with an elf/kor deck and totally break up my existing white and green deck.

I barely have enough cards for 2 decks, but one of them would have to be a 6 colour deck for it to work with the ones I own.

My brother actually got me into magic. It's the only good card game out there IMO. He bought me about two decks, and we got into it quite well, but then my lack of attention span left me for dead and I wound up stopping. I then felt guilty and gave him both decks. It is a great game though, I just wish I could tolerate to play a single game for more than a short while... (Most games on my xfire now peak 45 hours or less)
