Once the chills and hotstreaks (and awkward midnight kissing, oops!) had gotten out of everybody's system, wandering about the Xeric town hadn't actually been too bad of a bid in the least! Aster had taken up an enjoyment of - actually, there was little enjoyment in all the sand she'd track back to the hostel daily, but she -had- taken up a productive investigation of her own, which was at least making all of this travelling less annoying to the not-very-warrioresque Koshka.

Food. Not in grocing, but cooking. Not that there was much 'cooking' to be done in Castellon, but it was still .... somewhat horrifying, actually, to watch the eating habits of the other race. Then again, some of them would just pick up small animals and bite their heads clean off around here.

Which may have been part of why Aster had picked up a pension for avoiding the REALLY Tall Xerics.. as quickly it had become obvious that the race wasn't just tall...

it was ridiculously tall.

However, fortunately that day had yielded itself very little disaster to be seen...

Just a list of errands, which Jade had divvied out between the kids and then himself and Hanna.

So Yossarian had a list, Shae had a list, and Jade had a list.

From there, it was just a matter of divvying company.

Naturally, Kanda had taken up his company with Shae. Ha ha. NOPE, NOT GETTING STUCK WITH THE SWORDSMAN... as little did he know, he'd be getting plenty of the man's company later.. and not in a fun way.

"So what's the first thing on our list?"

Probably evil, based on how smug Jade looked.

It had been a longer recovery for some than it was others, but time did eventually healed all wounds... or at least illnesses, and eventually, the whole group had managed to get back on its feet, and back to life as (un)usual.

Yossarian had managed to rebound the fastest of the remaining lot, as could only be expected of any such strong young buck. Stubborn resolution and a few nights of mostly-restful sleep had given him the final edge in beating back any symptoms: fully restored to his normal sword slinging, high-strutting, and marginally disgruntled self. Shae, by contrast, had lagged behind in the recovery department... but since the morning she awoke after her hazy (and barely remembered) delirium, she'd made fair strides in getting better, finally holding meals down, drowning her misfortune in lots of fluids, and slowly working her way back to independence.

Hanna at least returned to her 'normal' behavior, though she had been a little less adventurous in trouble causing for the group, as of late (though no one was complaining about that). Hell, Takeshi was really the only one who'd never come down with anything sans certain masterminds; he'd just thrown a naked party one night and woke up grinning the morning after.

It was only with some very desperate persuasion that he'd been convinced once again of clothes being a proper idea. But anyway, digressing from any retrospect... there were lists to be had, and chores to be done on all ends. Ah, how strangely comforting it was, this odd sense of normalcy.

"... We're to look for 'any locals venues with size-appropriate clothing'," Shae explained in a lame tone, not even having bothered to fish the list out which had already been tuckered securely in her pocket with Del. Given how huge the population was, though-- "Though, somehow..." She had to sigh there, ears hanging a little as they slunk along the sand-colored streets, so full of enormous bodies who couldn't have cared less for their presence. "I doubt this will be an easy errand already..."

But at least it was worth rooting around for-- after all, while they did have enough spare clothing from Chicago to get them by, in part, having some more appropriately desert-geared garb would've saved them a lot of grief and sweating if they could find it.

Yeah, and that was a big if.

Yossarian and Aster's little task seemed marginally less difficult-- probably because a certain wicked wretch knew just how inept the latter woman was, or something like that. Either way, her cohort was grimacing at the slip of paper with clearly lacking enthusiasm.

"... Looks like we've been assigned to the task of grocery runner today," he mumbled dourly, even going so far as to pass the note over to her so that she could read it for herself-- good practice, he figured. "Well... I fathom it can't be that dreadful."

Famous last words, boy. Famous last words.

Takeshi had decided to take a jaunt out by himself (though by that he meant dragging Squalo along for the fun) in the meanwhile with no particular errand of his own, having already managed to explore a few places over the past few days, but never one to pass up an adventurous opportunity anyway. ADVENTURE WAS OUT THERE--

And oh, there was also Hanna.

"... So, what idle reconnaissance did you leave for us to handle?" she asked lightly, peering ever-so-innocently over her taller companion's shoulder, even if it meant a rather childish stand on her toes (for show, of course). "I pray you didn't rob us completely of entertainment for the day in your divvying."

As if life ever failed to entertain them, right? Hell, one could say it did it too much.

Oh joy. What a delightful little list they'd been given by Jade, it seemed. Kanda had done the same glance-over of the generally-larger-than-them group as Shae had and made a face. Y'know, the kind of face you'd make when you knew it was going to be a very special day.

Though the 'specialness' was very much underrated as to what would be happening in the long run of things.... then again, their 'special' days were higher in number than a lot of other people's 'special days' were, unfortunately. So basically, every other week!

or something like that.

"I imagine due to the lack of physical interest in this race, clothing is hard to come by.." it wasn't like Xerics would mind walking around naked for a week until they found more clothing.. or so Kanda was inclined to think... that and the idea of asking 'WHERE DO YOU GUYS GET UR CLOTHES' somehow seemed to be a bad idea.

...
.....

So..

"I don't think I've seen any sort of 'clothing' store in this area, so we're going to have to go on a bit of a jaunt..." UNFORTUNATELY.

Jade 'hmmm'ed lightly at Hanna's inquiry about what sort of fun they were going to be having that day~ Wellll.. given they'd tossed the grunt work off onto the kids, that just left them with all sorts of fun options to be had! It was going to be fantastic!

Or so Jade Curtiss would have been of the opinion of... then again, he was CRAZY!!

"We get to go grab some supply-replacements.. given the Kanus squirreled most of ours away and didn't exactly have the sort of thing we'd need to buy in turn." he said. It reallyw as unfortunate, but eh.

Nothing they could do about it now besides go shoppin'!

Oh great. Grocery run. Gr-

"Y'know, the entire time I've been here, I haven't exactly seen something one would call a 'proper' foomart... do they even have vegetables and the like available out here??"

Aster actually did have a point about that. It seemed to her that most Xerics, again, would just bite the head off of some tasty looking creature that was passing by, not to mention had to go get their own noms.... so why would they make it easy for their little fuzzy-hides to go and find noms as well?

There really was something strangely unsettling about being the so diminutive in the crowd. Sure, Shae was fairly used to being small back 'home' with her own kind, but that kind of size difference was absolutely nothing compared to this, where even the most average Xeric towered a solid foot above her, or two, or three-- notwithstanding the additional intimidation of sharp claws, vicious teeth, frightful crests or tails. They just seemed to reek of aggression and power with every movement of those huge, muscular bodies...

But she was swift to choke down those notions, labeling them hasty and unfair generalizations before refocussing on their task.

"Well, they must have some outlet for it," she replied, trying so very hard to find some shred of hope that wasn't terribly illogical, "... I mean... the city must have a resource, and... maybe there's a lesser market for Kanus?..." That, sadly, was about the best thing she could come up with, and still it seemed like a grim improbability at best. The only Kanus she'd seen there thusfar was... well, Takeshi, and the more she thought on it, the more she frowned. "I don't know..."

Yeah, it was probably gonna be a long jaunt filled with awkward glaring from passers by. Really, did the locals have to eye them so... suspiciously and everything?

"I haven't the slightest," sighed Yossarian, facing quite the intimidating crowd on his end too but, unlike the former female, just leering right back before he took a long, surveying gaze over the street sprawl before them. "... It's doubtful such an arid climate could sustain much in the way of agriculture..."

And if much of anything could grow, he figured there wouldn't be enough to sell in mass. Huh... just how did people manage to get their products around here? Was it all imports? Trade? Too many hunter-gatherers?

Well, there was no point in dwelling on that, so he picked a direction and just sort of went at some street intersection, glancing back at Aster, if only to make sure she was following along. THEY WOULD FIND IT YET, THEY WOULD.

... While an unexpectedly swift doom approached from elsewhere, and descended upon a very different, but quite possibly more dangerous pair.

"Sounds fine enough," Hanna agreed with whole-hearted, if not slightly worn enthusiasm, still beaming none the less as she straightened her shirt collar, and surveyed the grand streets into which they, too, would inevitably then plunge. "... I'll need to see what sort of pharmaceutical trade this territory offers, while we're at it..."

Because unfortunately, she was running low again on her most necessary things, having gone through a rather unfortunate amount of them in recent days for A.) health related grievance and B.) a lack of the general strength she was so very spoiled on back home.

Ah, how she missed the gray (or black) market of her home.

"Maybe they'll have some interesting military paraphernalia floating around, too," she added in the interest of her partner (as if he hadn't already explored). "... I'm curious to see this city for what it is."

Yeah, like the burly, ridge-backed lizard monsters in vaguely militaristic uniform already looking for them. Angrily.

Yeahhhhhh even Kanda was smaller than all of these Xerics and he wasn't exactly small in terms of Koshka-scale himself (Forbid someone mention that Asteria Georgelas was actually taller than him, though).. though the real problem with how tall everybody was in comparison was that it was actually hard to SEE any of the establishment's on the street.

HnnnNNngh!

It didn't help that they were getting somewhat suspicious leers from the populace.. WTF, was there something on their faces or something to prompt such leering from the Xerics?

Maybe it was just that they looked so frail. It was definitely a possibility, given where they were... Unfortunately. Hnnngh. At least by comparison. In fact, Kanda had to wonder if the beast of a Mench who had snapped his arm back in Salig had been part-Xeric.

Not genetically possible, but it was something that unsettled him.

"Either way, I'm sure we'll find something.." HOPEFULLY. "Even if it is too big." Not that it wouldn't completely SUCK in that situation.

Boo!

Aster frowned at the street in front of them as well, but also had made a point to practically GLUING herself to Yossarian's side for the sake of her own safety.. albeit not clinging, as that somehow seemed to be less safe, in the case that Yossarian actually needed to use his arms.

However...

straining her ears a little, the sound of some sort of UNHAPPY FUSSING could be had, causing the fold-ear to look around anxiously..

Okay YEAH. They were really being leered at for some reason, and it was making her tail prickle up to hell and back... What was going on???

It certainly didn't help that Jade and Hanna just radiated suspiciousness, now did it?

"Well, I certainly didn't find too much in terms of that without having to do some herbal mixing myself... so it may be quite the little hunt on our part."

he sighed. Perhaps it would have done them a lot better to not let the Kanus steal their bags. Jade HAD been sure to pack plenty initially, so having to get it -back- wasn't exactly the most delightful task.

Nor successful. But no matter!

"Oh goodness, this does seem like the place we'd want to keep an eye open for militaristic things." Jade mused, though part of him was concerned with this notion..

After all, as a military man on a 'scout out the area' run, it was important to make sure that any possibly threats were properly noted.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 26, 2010 12:13 am

... No. No it did not help in the slightest that Jade and Hanna radiated waves of sparkling suspiciousness, what with being... y'know, a couple of obviously foreign people snooping about town, and just as obviously snooping about for the sake of whatever idle reconnaissance (be it harmless or otherwise).

It was fairly clear that the locals didn't trust anybody, let alone their own kin, or even stray Kanus from further north, let alone... them.

It was barely an hour into their venture, when Shae had finally managed to track down a couple of traders with some clothing at least small 'enough' to work with (which still qualified it as huge on the biggest of them) and Yossarian attempted to 'barter' information on local food venues out of too many obstinate wretches for tracking, that things took their inevitable turn towards the worse.

"Hey, found 'em!" Hanna heard an unusually distinct and aggressive voice above the other hissed murmurs of the crowd, ears twitching a little as she discretely glanced over her shoulder toward the end of the street where, sure enough, a couple of particularly monstrous Xerics (in clothing that seemed vaguely militaristic) were picking up their pace to approach.

Well, this was turning out to be a rather exciting venture all over again!

"... Seems we're unfortunately popular today," she commented almost too idly, though perhaps there was the slightest hint of an urgency in her tone she didn't bother hiding. "Shall we run, then?"

Which, of course, was going to be one hell of an endeavor in a sparse crowd of now-less-happy-than-EVER Xerics all passing them suspicious looks, with an 'old' man and a woman whose last sprint h-- ... ah, never mind. It couldn't hurt, right?

The poor kids, meanwhile, could only continue about on their errands in (inevitably fleeting) ignorance of their grand new problem.

Because yeah, no one cared that the city's own locals happened to beat the tar out of eachother daily, but they couldn't have foreign weaklings trolling around, looking at their destructive stuff like that all freely!

That was just unacceptable!

Yeah, Kanda imagined that in the near future, this stuff would just be falling right off of his shoulders; note to self, get more muscle! (Which just reminds me of that picture of the big-muscle man I put Kanda's face on). But honestly, at least they'd gotten what they had came for on their little job-run..
...
......

Right?

Too bad they'd be going on a completely different run sooner rather than later... and the last 'run' they'd been on hadn't exactly been quite fun either.. nor had any of the ones they'd been on before =that=! God, Kanda just didn't think runs were fun, did he?

Well, he actually had a little bit of a preference for not being in trouble at every turn. Unfortunately....

Aster sighed at how little progress she and Yossarian were making in their task. Seriously, weren't they supposed to have had the 'easy' chore of the three groups? Certainly they hadn't been given the 'impossible' task..
....
......
Right?

RIGHT?

Siiiiighhhh ;;

Jade made an 'oops' face at the shout, looking to Hanna and shrugging lightly. "Well, I've seen many the popular persons run from their suitors~" he mused, still in good humor, despite the fact that they were about to go on their own little run!

Unfortunately.

"Well, we'd better get moving then~"

FLEEEEE!

It didn't exactly help that Shae had lost a few pounds over the last couple of weeks, either, even scrawnier than usual thanks to prolonged illness and therefore even less likely to fit in the smallest smalls of their newly acquired clothing. Granted, she was slowly gaining back what she'd lost, but full recovery did take time after something that catastrophic.

Either way, she figured they'd be able to make due with what they'd bartered out of the tradesman, trying her best to fold up all their purposes into manageable armfuls since apparently, Castellon thought carry-bags were for the weak.

At least they'd gotten what they came for without much trouble, and she wasn't even thinking of the worst possible outcome that would soon be inevitable, either!

Of course, the task Yossarian and Aster had was easy (at least, now) in comparison to a certain other duo who suddenly found themselves running for their lives, browsing the so-called food items of one very disgruntled vendor in some side-street who just happened to have a few baskets of locally harvested starch, and a couple of unfortunate looking, more or less mummified animal hunks.

Fresh things just didn't seem to exist around these parts, how very sad. But eh... at least they'd get something to cook the hell out of and rehydrate as a sorry excuse for food, so--

... Hold the phone. What had that been?

"Did you just hear something in the distance?" he asked all of a sudden, much to the trader's annoyance, giving his partner an unusually dead-serious look. He could've sworn there was someone yelling, quite aggressively (which said something considering the city's 'norm'), in the distance...

But no, time to get the hell out for Jade and Hanna then, the latter wasting no time at breaking into a hasty run at her partner in crime's side as they made their getaway-- or tried. Unfortunately for them, though, their pursuers, despite being monstrous, seemed unusually fast for their kind.

"... Brings new meaning to making things up on the fly, doesn't it?" the therapist couldn't help but comment as they darted along, voice strained, but keeping stride none the less. Surely, they'd be able to outwit those bothersome clods if they could just get far enough ahead to be out of sight!--

... Though uh. The fact that suddenly two OTHER equally militant looking brutes had broken into their line of sight at the OTHER end of the street made that a little more tricky, huh?

Yeahhh, the sudden lack of exit-options did cause a little bit of frowning to be had. It was especially unuseful for Jade to have left his weapon of choice back at the Hostel.. y'know, with the expectation he'd be going BACK to it at one point so he'd be able to rest in peace.

Not running for his life from Xeric 'cops' of sorts. RUN RUN RUN!!

Though it was not difficult to miss the sight of terrifying individuals running for their lives, as Asteria had poked her head out into the open to watch the pair run by-

"LOOK, THERE'S ANOTHER ONE!"

!!?

Asteria immediately pulled herself back out from the open, tail puffed up in it's entirety. AHHHHHHH! AHHHAHHHh!!! ;A;!!! Oh dear. She'd just helped things go from bad to worse. Oh dear. Yes, she immediately latched herself back to Yossarian's side.

"a-are they looking for us?"

PLZ SAY NO?

PLZPLZ?

Kanda's ears had also perked up at all of the shouting, frowning. HmmmMmmm. Well... he'd have to think about what it was that wa-

"I have a bad feeling....."
PostPosted: Fri Mar 26, 2010 10:52 pm

... But of course they'd somehow wind up being pursued like criminals in a foreign land like this; after all, it seemed about as natural and par-for-the-course as any other disaster they suffered, so naturally, Yossarian was less than shocked at the sight of it. Sure, he was angry and disgruntled as could be, but surprised? Oh, no. The only thing on his mind now was getting the hell out of there as fast as possible, not even bothering to give Aster a verbal response before he half-pried her off in favor of grabbing the woman's hand instead, to break into an immediate run.

Where? Why, after Jade and Hanna, of course! He was technically hired as a guard for the pair, after all, and really, he wanted to know WHY ON EARTH THEY WERE BEING CHASED DAMMIT.

"I haven't the slightest!" he finally hissed over his shoulder, then called ahead, "just what on earth have you two deplorable--!!..."

But any more commentary he might've had prompty died in his throat when he saw the therapist skid to a sudden stop ahead, and two more enormous brutes joined the inital pair at the end of the street, each less pleasant looking than the last.

"You! The long haired pale one!" one of the biggest lizards in the group suddenly boomed, his approach swift, "you're the spy from the upper country!"

"... Any brilliant ideas for getting out of this one, now?" she asked under her breath, persona calm, but... "Seems we're at a dreadful impasse."

"Capture them!" the leader roared, "and if they resist, break them!"

... Yossarian might've had forethought enough to keep his sword at his side, but somehow, he doubted it would be of much use against six enormous, plated monsters.

Shae, too, had been all too aware of the shouting, even if her ears didn't pick up the absolute specifics... but she knew the sound of chaos and unrest when she heard it, and that most definitely did not bode well for any of them.

"I-It can't possibly..." she started, quietly, but somewhere in her, she already knew who had to be at the center of it all. With one arm full of clothes and only a single hand free, she frowned grimly, and absently massaged a temple. "I thought they were only--"

"Hey!" Oh s**t there was another giant lizardman now in their sights and they'd been spotted too as he rounded the corner.

The tradesman just grumbled something in disinterest and diverted his gaze elsewhere, clearly not interested in any kind of intervention for saving the poor duo, either.

Well, damn it all, this was unpleasant.

And not going to end well at all.

Aster was NOT going to fight the point when it was Yossarian getting her moving away from the thing making her prickle and puff and generally be terrified. But when one was terrified, they did tend to be a LITTLE BIT USEFUL in terms of actually running. FLeeing wasn't a hard thing.

...

QAQ!

However, it soon seemed that there wasn't exactly a lot of space for them to ..y'know, flee in terror now, which made her just settle for pressing herself against Yossarian's back when they were left with nowhere to run, looking between horror A and Horror B.

;;;

Jade chuckled when it seemed they'd gotten themselves stuck in a not-so-happy situation, now with the added joy of a pair of the kids now trapped with them! Goodie goodie! Though it seemed that the Xeric was speaking to him.

After all, Hanna had short hair, Yossarian wasn't pale, and Asteria was far too cute and useless to be a spy (though he wouldn't say that out loud, no matter how true it was.. ha ha ha).

"Well, should we allow ourselves to be captured and hope to sort out the mess, or should I hope some horrid plague strikes?"

...
..... It was a strange point, but technically Jade and company had brought as much disease with them as they'd been given by the Kanus. Oh dearrr!

Wait, what?

Kanda massaged his temples, before looking to Shae, then their new pursuers, sighing deeply.

"I think we'd better get moving sooner rather than later." he said flatly, immediately fleshing out some idea of a 'route to run' in his mind. HMMMMMM.

There certainly were a lot of places he could be going..

LIKE AWAY.

RIGHT NOW.

With Shae in tow.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 11:02 am

"I guess so..." Shae mumbled, utterly defeated and yet, so very like a certain dark male just a street or two over, unable to feign surprise at the fact that they were suddenly getting chased for no apparent reason. Thus, with clothing still in arm, she was off like a shot on his heels, just hoping to every imaginary God out there that they would manage to dodge this proverbial bullet unharmed.

Sadly, it was a farfetched dream at best, though, as a certain other quartet (there were technically four of them right then) was finding out.

"... Stay close," Yossarian growled under his breath, as if Aster wasn't already PLASTERED against him in her horror. He had one hand hovering near his sword that grew increasingly tense as the Xeric closed in, but--

"Mister Yossarian, don't provoke them," Hanna commanded in a low but striking tone, before she actually frowned the slightest bit, if only for a split second. "Somehow, I doubt these people are unused to such things... but we're outnumbered, and escape seems unlikely..."

She paused for a moment, assessing something mentally, before raising her voice to call out to, of all people, the very disgruntled bodies approaching them. "Under whose orders are we to be arrested here? We're--"

"Not your business!" Well, her singular attempt at diplomacy was promptly shot down when they finally met face to face and, despite the female's immediate surrender of putting up both hands (she knew better than to fight a losing battle), was still grabbed so hard that she nearly toppled over and had one arm ripped out of its socket. "Pull anything fishy, and we break your damn necks, understand?!"

Yossarian, who had once again been on the verge of lashing out despite probably knowing better, hesitated for a fatal moment in that and was suddenly caught around the back of his neck by a monstrous clawed hand, forced to his knees with nothing short of COMPLETELY over the top strength. It was a small miracle the wretch didn't crush his windpipe from behind with that alone.

His sword was ripped off his belt before he could ever possibly get to it, too, though that didn't stop him from a rather vicious and displeased snarl when they tore a certain weaker body away from him, lurching at the responsible party. "Incorrigible brute, how DARE you lay a ha--!!"

CRACK.

Clearly, when they said meeting any resistance with force, they meant it, because he dropped like a wet sack of sand, the back of his ponytail plastered red against his neck.

It wasn't but a minute or so later that the remaining pair found themselves equally cornered, quite literally in some unfortunate dead-end alley, and staring down three huge men with their backs to the wall.

With one arm still foolishly carrying that clothing, Shae couldn't have scaled the wall it she wanted to... and even if she could, they would've torn her off and probably snapped her in half for the escape attempt.

They were screwed. Royally, utterly screwed.

It was only a matter of putting up resistance and getting broken into little fleshy pieces or going quietly and hoping their would-be captors felt merciful enough to leave all limbs intact.

!!!!!!!!!? !!!????????

!!!!!

Aster was all prickle and panic when she was literally PRIED off of Yossarian, terrified somewhere between freezing and flailing in complete and total panic. However, the second the man went down, she instead went into complete HYSTERIA...DNW

DNW

DNW
DN-

crack

It seemed that panicking in fear was also resistance, unfortunately for Asteria Georgelas, she got to meet the pavement face-first (which wasn't much better given she was already half-blind), her captor (who was actually a smaller Xeric, considering, and very...female?).

"How charming.." she said with a certain degree of disgust at the sight of the OH SO WORRIED LOVERS, before she scooped the small female to throw over her shoulder, before looking to the two in their company who were still working on their own steam.

"...."

Well damn, she'd apparently been hoping for more resistance. Alas.

"Seperate them all."

Well, in terms of 'resistance', Kanda had prickled quite immediately when they'd been run into a corner, frowning at everything that was in front of him. HnnnNNnngh. But that meant he now needed to..
...

The second his hand went anywhere near his sword, his other arm was grabbed, the sound of his shoulder being literally torqued from his socket in the process of it, before he hit the pavement like the other swordsman had...

Oh s**t.

From there, it was just whatever Shae decided to do..
PostPosted: Sun Mar 28, 2010 12:02 am

It was a suddenly grim situation, and Hanna couldn't blame her fellow female for giving in to panic like that. Hell, had she not been so matured by experience, she could've very easily done the same but, unfortunately for her fight-hungry captors, in the end she still knew better, and just limply gave herself up to the arm-wrenching, the shoving, and the bullying into submission without a word of complaint.

It'd leave bruises, no doubt, but at least it was better than what poor Yossarian, now limply slung over the shoulder of a scoffing, thoroughly impressed pseudo-military brute and bleeding from the skull.

It wasn't much better for Shae in the end either who, despite being a far more level character than Asteria, wound up losing her rational edge anyway when Kanda was grabbed and quite literally wrenched (with a sound that ripped the bottom out of her stomach) into submission, she was overcome with a desperate, frantic urge to run, to bolt, to climb walls or resist or cry out or just do anything that wasn't letting them get ahold of her...

It didn't do her a lot of good when one huge male grabbed her by both arms, and her instinctive attempt to tear away just ended in a squeeze so hard she choked on her own throat and buckled on her knees.

"You're all goin' away for a while, kitty cats," she heard one of them say, faintly, in a snarky hiss. "... Damn cocky little spies."

Game, set, and match.

Those who could walk were forced to do so with their hands bound behind their backs, pushed and shoved roughly along through the streets like some sort of humiliation parade, and those who couldn't... they were carried with all the gentleness and care of... well, potato sacks, really, bumped and bruised all along the way.

And god, what a long way it was. Any attempt at pleasant questioning Hanna made while they went was met with snorts or cold shoulders at best, so they were completely in the dark as to where they were being led...

Except that said 'where' was somewhere beyond the outskirts of the city, in the barren, horrible wastes and... in some... sort of ominous structure too distant from civilization to be anything but a prison enclosure.

Talk about a rough day-- and it was only just starting.

Even Jade got roughhandled.

Yeah, if the kids had actually been walking on their own steam (well, Kanda was, give or take his arm was still wretched out of it's socket, sigh), they may have gotten to marvel at that. However, Kanda wasn't exactly in the mood to be marveling at the pathetic situation at hand. He was rather concerned with any lasting damage his state of being was going to have instead.

However, his other problem was going to be that he had to realign the damn thing once he'd been shoved into a rather large cell. HnnnnnnGH.

In fact, before anything else, the Tabby had hit the bottom of the cell, much to the amusement of his cell mate, who was much burlier than himself.... and probably twice as fluffy. Wait, what?

The large Kanus, who probably could have given a small Xeric a run for it's money, picked the boy up by the scruff of the neck and sniffed him, before setting him down with a little more gentleness than the Xerics had previously.

"Well, I cannae imagin' wha you did, stranger. You dunnae look lik' any Kanu' I see."

..Ouch.

Jade, on the other hand, was at least given a little bit of 'gentle' treatment when he was put into his cell, without accompaniment, leaving him to pitter with a sort of bemused expression.

"Well, this certainly is delightful!"

Yeah

Aster would have to say she didn't agree with that, having woken up on the floor of a cell in a completely different section of the cell, groaning as her entire face seemed to radiate with pain as she opened her one good eye.

It didn't help that upon rolling herself over there was a rather large Xeric looming over her.
