The Clash are alright. I don't think they influenced ska though.

1, yesh Clash is a great band!
2, and a some of their music has ska influeces ther's no doubt about, and The Clash and The Specials had the same manager I belive...now I don't remember his name

No, I do not consider them ska.
They were around at the same time that ska was getting big, but no.
I don't like the clash, and probably never will ><

i have almost all there albums. dont think they are really ska at all... not from what ive heard at least

I think the Clash are too much a part of Punk history to be considered ska... even if they did have a couple songs..... The Beatles - "Ob La Di Ob La Da" is pretty much a Ska song, but no one would ever think of calling them a ska band. Although I won't deny that The Clash did quite a bit to help the birth of 2-Tone.... the Specials first major tour was opening for the Clash... i think. And originally, The Specials considered themselves more punk than ska....
As for the name of the manager, its Bernard Rhodes... ( I even have a Japanese Oi! Song about him....) He also was a big part of the inspiration for the song "Gangsters"

I like the Clash, but I don't think they're really ska. They have some ska influences in some of their songs, but they're definitly more punk, and helped form the punk genre than the ska genre.

Farnoosh They're punk, and only punk. the first 2 clash albums are punk, London Calling is rock, Sandinista is everything except punk! Combat rock is rock and Cut The Crap is not an offical Clash album.

the closest to ska they'll ever come is, "Rudie can't Fail" and the Dub songs on sandinista

Part ska. About, oh, 20%. Not that I don't totally love them. But they're punk rock, not ska.
