340 B.C.E
At 340 B.C.E the ancient western world is about to be plunged into total war. Rome, After successfully assimilating the Etruscans they turn there eyes to the southern parts of Italy, though that wont be easy as there most formidable rival, the Samnites, live in the central and mountainous parts of Italy. Samnium.
Greece, is in the face of a civil war as Macedonia and there allies (e.g. Sparta) are looking to unify Greece under one banner for the first time. Athens and Thebes and other Greek city states look to stop them to defend there independence. Thought the menace of Persia still looms at there door step.
Carthage, has recently become a leading power in the west, and are now looking to the east. They fight for domination of Sicily with Greece but a uneasy peace has been settled there. There relations with Rome don't look like there improving and only a treaty keeps them from cutting each others throats.
Gaul/Celts, is now pressurizing Rome more heavily to the north, as they look to expand into Italy. The normal raids from the north are now increasing, and some look to settle down on Roman soil. Though the Roman army keeps them at bay for now...
