Saffron City DESCRIPTION -Saffron City is a sprawling metropolis in the Kanto region. It lies in between Celadon City, Vermilion City, Lavender Town, and Cerulean City. It used to be home to Sabrina, the infamous Psychic-typer, though nowadays the Gym roost is ruled by Uria Coldfire. Saffron City is one of the busiest and largest cities in the region, and is even famous outside of Kanto. The large Silph Co. headquarters building stands firm as the city's centerpiece, while two gyms dominate the north-eastern corner district. Not only is this the central business district of Kanto, it also holds the region's largest infrastructure, including the Magnet Train station, which allows ease of access between Johto and Kanto. LOCATION -Saffron is located in eastern Kanto. PEOPLE - Saffron City is packed with people, being the single largest city in Kanto. It is the center of commerce, and as such, the people here are very well off and busy. They mostly ignore Pokemon trainers as they have little time for them. RESOURCES/EVENTS - Saffron City Gym - The Saffron City Gym is home to Uria Coldfire, the Ice-Type Gym Leader. As one would expect from a Leader specializing in this type, an ice maze greets competitors - those that can endure the cold, and defeat Uria's Pokemon, win themselves a Glacier Badge. Fighting Dojo - This place is right next to the city's gym, and is often a hangout for gym leaders on their off days. Sometimes a trainer can get lucky and have a quick, friendly match with the gym leader for kicks, and other times the gym leaders may be seen fighting one another for training purposes. Kanto Magnet-Train Station - Kanto's Magnet Train provides speedy transportation to and from Johto, arriving in Goldenrod City. Businesspeople are often the main folks on the train, but trainers can be as well who are making their way to either city or region. Mr. Psychic's House - This man gives away the TM for Psychic to anyone who comes asking. Rumor has it that he has an enormous stockpile of them somewhere in his home... Silph Co. Headquarters - The Silph Co. Headquarters is the largest and tallest building in the city. They are the leading manufacturer of Pokémon technology in the world, and produce a variety of goods for Pokémon trainers, such as the Poké Ball and the Silph Scope. Their status made them a target in the past for Team Rocket, in which Team Rocket orchestrated the takeover of their headquarters in Saffron City. Up-Grades can be found here by pestering the guards, in addition to some rather rare Pokemon from the Hoenn Region (Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip) by meeting with the Hoenn Champion himself, Steven Stone. The alternate forms of Rotom may also be accessed here in, and the notebook present in the room Rotom's appliances can be found in indicates that Charon, a Team Galactic admin, may have had a past connection to the company. Pokemon Center / PokeMart - This city has both the Pokemon Center and PokeMart selling Great and Ultra Balls, along with Super and Hyper Potions, and Revives and Full Heals. MYTH/LORE - The people here do not have time to mess with traditions and superstitions...

Cade sighed loudly from his position in the Magnet Train Station. The teen looked out of the window, a bored expression on his face. He had been waiting for the train for an hour now and it was really starting to try his patience. "Come on!" he said, suddenly standing. He started to pace the room impatiently.
Aside from the youth, the station was empty, well, almost. A small, blue creature was asleep against Cade's bag, undisturbed by his trainer's sudden yelling. Blue, the Totodile, was dreaming peacufully. What was he dreaming of? Hey, I do not know. I am not psychic.
Cade pulled his PokeGear out of his pocket, using the device to see the time. "The train was supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago," he said, replacing the piece of equipment back into his pocket and plopping down next to his sleeping Totodile. He stroked the exposed stripes on the creature's back. "Man, you can sleep through anything can't you?" he said with a slight chuckle.
Cade's head shot up, he thought he could hear the approaching monorail. He looked out at the tracks, a black blur was racing towards him. The teen smiled and ran back to the bench. He pulled out a Luxury Ball from his belt and returned the sleeping Johto starter. He gingerly replaced the ball back on his belt and grabbed his messenger bag. He secured the strap so the bag sat securely on his side.
The train came to a sudden halt that was quite impressive considering the locomotive's speed. An elderly gent was waiting by the train entrance when Cade walked up to it. He presented the man his ticket. The chap nodded and waved Cade inside. The teen walked inside the train and took a seat near the back. He sat back and sighed. Now that he was on the train, it should not be much longer until he reached Goldenrod, the Johto region's own version of Saffron City. It would be about a thirty minute journey.
The trainer turned and gazed out of the window, watching as the train started to go off with a lazy lurch. The speed soon increased, knocking the impetuous youth backwards in his seat. "Son of a-" was all he could manage before hitting his head on the back of the window. "Owww!" he exclaimed, rubbing the upcoming knot on the back of his head.

David Miles stepped into the Lookout Station on the northern outskirts of Saffron, late in the night . . . or early in the morning, depending on how you saw it. He looked around the room for a bit, and spotted a police officer snoozing quietly at the counter. the former hermit walked over, and rapped sharply on the countertop to wake him.
"Hi," he said, upon waking him. "Where I can I get a 'Magnet Train' ticket? And a place to stay for the night?"

David had chosen the wrong way to wake up Officer David McGeeHee. The officer shot awake, grabbing the gun in his hip holster and pointing it at David in the space of a second. "YOU WON'T GET ME, YOU HEPHALUMP!" Obviously, the officer had been dreaming. Vividly.

"WOAH Woah woooaaaah," David exclaimed, shouting at first but quickly lowering his tone, not wanting to spook the man any further and provoke him into pulling the trigger. His hands were in the air. "Just . . . calm down."
"I didn't even know Officers carried guns! At least, they didn't the last time I saw one!" he thought. "I'm too young to d- . . . well, no, but I'd rather not get shot, regardless!"

Now that he had had a few moments to actually wake up, the Officer blinked at the sight of the older man across the desk with his hands in the air before seeing that he was pointing his gun at him. He shook his head, and threw the gun behind him, where it bounced off a TV screen. "Sorry about that - Team Rocket n' all. So, what did you want?"

Slowly, David lowered his hands . . . though he still wasn't entirely sure he was safe, watching with wide eyes as the weapon was casually tossed away. "I . . . um . . . Magnet Train ticket?" His wide eyes remained locked warily on the Officer, and he looked ready to bolt. "Where can I get one? And a place to stay?"

The Officer caught David's wide-eyed glance at the weapon he'd thrown behind him, and laughed at the older man. "The safety catch was on, you pansy! And Magnet Train ticket, you say?" He dug underneath his desk, soon producing a laminated Pass with a stylized drawing of the Magnet Train and a load of text on the back. "That'll be two hundred PokeDollars."

Right, that totally excused an Officer of the law tossing a deadly weapon around like a toy. But he needed the Train Pass, and so, still wary, David stepped forward to the counter and placed 200 Pokedollars' worth of money down. He then reached for the pass and slipped it into his pocket.
In a flash of insight, David abruptly realized that it made sense that this guy was stuck attending a Lookout Station in the middle of the night, rather than patrolling the streets or whatever normal policemen did.
"Thanks. I'll just, uh . . . I'll be going now." David didn't want to stick around this guy any longer than he needed to, and he figured he could find a place to stay on his own. With that, he headed for the door leading into Saffron.

David was right - Officer McGeeHee had been put out to pasture here in the Station Lookout, making sure no-one did . . . stuff to the seats, as opposed to the real work done by real officers out there in the field! . . . Like letting ten year olds take down crime syndicates. The Officer waved as David left. "Have a nice day!" That done, he settled down to sleep again.

Saffron city awaited her. K smirked as she ran into the look out station. Kip followed close behind. She twirled happily. "Look at us, we are in saffron city! Kip, this is amazing!" she screeched happily. She hadn't yet noticed the sleeping guard. Being still youg she was still immature. Kip stood by her side smiling. He was her one and only pokemon so far, a chikorita.
"Now where do we wanna go?" she asked herself flicking her hair from her eyes. She was happy and excited. "Mom would be proud." She snickered and saw the sleeping man. "Oh, I could ask him." she tappped her chin and poked the guard. "Mister, can I get advice from you?"
She smiled a little and hoped she wasn't interupting anything. She poked the man again before giggling. He seemed nice enough but he hadn't even opened his eyes yet.

David stepped through the door . . . and into the busy streets of Saffron. It amazed him, as it had back then and once more now, that even in the depths of the night, the city was still bustling. 'The Beating Heart of Kanto' he'd once heard someone call it. It seemed like an appropriate analogy, thriving 24/7.
After taking a couple more minutes marveling at the city's lights and towers, David headed off to find someplace to stay the night. It had been a long day, most of which he'd spent preparing and traveling down from his mountain. He needed some rest.

Officer McGeeHee wasn't too thrilled about being kept from his sleep any longer, and gave K the stink eye as she asked her question. "What do you want?" He wasn't a very communicable sort unless he'd had his coffee. [[Ryugi did? Huh . . . ah, well, in that case, my mistake. 3nodding Mind if you post the profile up, though? I like to get to know all new arrivals.]]
