]~_~Ken Garcia~_~ "You better give me back my cookies or you will burn. Horribly" It's early morning in the town of New Bark. As the last couple of Hoothoot began to return to their trees, the rays from a beautiful sunrise streamed into Ken's room. Just then the Exploud themed alarm clock blared right next to his bed, shattering the early morning quiet. The 14 year old groaned, slamming his hand on the STOP button, sitting up in bed. Stretching his arms as he made his way over to his drawer to get a towel, he stumbled on something lying on the floor. "OW! What the french toast?!", he almost shouted, rubbing his foot where it hit the drawer. He picked up his backpack that he tripped on, tossing it on the bed, when he noticed other things lying on the floor too. There was his curled up flame-patterned sleeping bag, his 400 PokeDollars in a Ziploc bag, and his Pokegear, all lying in a neat row. Thinking to himself about how he should pick up his room before his mom yells at him again, he grabbed a towel and a marker and went to the bathroom. He set the towel down and flipped open the calendar that was next to the mirror, looking for for October 3rd, two days before he would finally become a Pokemon Trainer. He crossed off October 4th instead, since the 3rd was already crossed off. Thinking about which Pokemon he would choose tomorrow, he got into the shower, letting the hot water run down his body. After a few minutes he turned the water off and got out, splashing cold water from the sink to refresh him, when he froze. 'Wait a minute, if the 3rd is already crossed off, then that means I crossed it off yesterday, which means yesterday was the 4th, which means today is...' Turning slowly, he took another look at the calendar, where he stopped for a full minute. And then there was shouting. "MOOOOOM!!!!!! TODAY'S THE DAY TODAY'S THE DAY!!!" , he screamed excitedly, running from the bathroom in his towel and changing into his clothes in his room. Downstairs, his mother shook her head, drinking coffee, smiling and laughing to herself as she heard her son screaming upstairs. A few minutes later Ken ran down the stairs, fixing his curly brown hair as he went, his backpack slung over his shoulder with all his things inside. He was dressed in a dark red T-shirt, a red and black overcoat, jeans, and black and red Vans. His mother was waiting by the door, about to head to work. "Wow, I've never seen you this excited since you found out where I kept the extra chocolate chip ice cream.", she said, while Ken just rolled his blue/green eyes. "But anyway, here's a note from your dad in Kanto. He sent over a Charmander to Prof. Elm for you to have, along with one of the starters. Now hurry up, and be careful!", she said quickly, hugging her son. "Yeeeeeess mommy, I know. I wuv you!", Ken said in a baby voice as he ran toward the lab. After a few minutes of running, he stopped breathlessly at the door to Prof. Elm's lab, eating a waffle he made at his house. He took a quick look at his Pokear as he knocked. "Wow, 5:18. I usually wake up later for school!", he said to himself, and knocked.

 ._O M. Lestat Valentine O_. -rookie Trainer-BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
'It's too early~,' thought a young man with a mess of black hair as he threw the first thing he grabbed from the floor - a shoe - at his alarm clock.
Needless to say, the contact effectively silenced the horrendous beeping.
'Now, to go back to sleep...' Just as the young man was setting down into his comfortable bed, a thought occurred to him.
Today was a big day.
Today he would get his first pokemon from Prof. Elm!
"Are you awake yet, Lestat?" came a woman's melodious voice through his bedroom door, the slightest hint of a British accent to said voice. "Don't forget - today's a big day for you."
'Blaggarts, she's right!' The young boy - Lestat - sprung from his bed, nearly tangling himself in the covers.
He ran a quick brush through his mop of jet-black hair, the pulled on his clothes - a cream-colored hoodie with brown trim, brown cargo pants, and tannish hiking boots.
As he pulled a pair of black goggles on(to hang from his neck), he took in his appearance in his window's reflection with his midnight-blue eyes.
'Today's the day I start my journey.' Smiling at his reflection - and with a quick nod - Lestat grabbed his travelling bag, all but racing downstairs for breakfast...
~~~
After a good breakfast, the black-haired young man was off to Prof. Elm's nearby research lab, with well-wishings from his mother(his father was travelling elsewhere).
"You are going to give me the occasional call, aren't you?"
"Of course, mother." Lestat pulled his backpack on, after making sure he had his keepsake from his home region of Sinnoh - a simple Skull Fossil. "I'll call you every week."
"That's all I ask, son." Giving him a warm smile, Lestat's mother ruffled his hair. "I'll be sure to tell your father that you've begun your travels."
"If I don't call him first." With that, Lestat headed over to Prof. Elm's research lab.
"Have a safe journey, dear!"
~~~
A few moments later found Lestat, travelling bag hanging from one shoulder(presumably, Lestat got his PokeGear from his mother), entering Prof. Elm's lab.
"Hello~...?" Shielding his midnight-blue eyes from the harsh luminescent lights overhead, he looked around the lab. "Prof. Elm? It's me, Lestat...I'm here to pick up my first pokemon?"
Unbeknownst to Lestat, his father had sent Prof. Elm his first pokemon - a male Larvitar. In addition to that, the black-haired young man would probably have a 'traditional' starter, if Elm saw fit.
Lestat's journey as a pokemon Trainer would start here.

~_~Ken Garcia~_~ "You better give me my cookies or you will burn. Horribly." As Ken let himself inside the lab, he heard a voice, definitely too young to belong to the Professor, and peeked around the door. In the main room of the lab, he saw a young man about his age, looking around inside. Ken briefly wondered if he were a starting trainer also, and thought it would be good if he didn't have to travel alone after all. Closing the door quietly behind him, the junior Fire-Type trainer walked up quietly behind him. "Hey! I'm Ken! Are you a new trainer too?", he asked.

 ._O M. Lestat Valentine O_. -rookie Trainer-"Hm?" Lestat raised a curious black eyebrow when he heard someone enter the lab. 'Looks like I'm not the only one here...'
He glanced over his shoulder at the kid - who seemed to be his age - as he introduced himself as 'Ken'. "Indeed I am." He gave him a small nod.
"My name is Lestat." Spinning on his heel, he turned to Ken, giving him a small bow in greeting. "And don't let anyone tell you differently." A small smirk played across his lips as he said the last part.
"I suppose you're here for the same purpose I am, Ken." Absent-mindedly, Lestat straightened the belted bracelets on his right wrist. "You're here for your starter pokemon as well, yes?" Midnight-blue eyes looked directly at Ken through the mess of jet-black bangs that hung into Lestat's face as he awaited the boy's answer.

~_~Ken Garcia~_~ "You better give me back my cookies or you will burn. Horribly." Ken nodded. "It's nice to meet you Lestat. And yeah, me too.", he answered. "I'm hoping to get a Cyndaquil. I love Fire-Types. Which one do you want?". Ken looked around the lab. It was very clean, and shiny too, with a bunch of complicated looking machines scattered here and there.

 Professor Elm Pokemon Professor "Yes, I am indeed an expert on eggs." If Lestat and Ken listened carefully, they would be able to hear a few snatches of music above them, seemingly coming from the living quarters situated on top of the lab - Elm only barely heard the two voices below him over the sound of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but hear them he did, and so he paused his movie, slipping on his shoes and lab coat before heading down the outside of the lab - a quirk of the building meant he couldn't have a staircase straight to the lab - and in through the front door. "Helloooooooo! You two must be new trainers! Always good to see young people out of the Game Corner . . . I swear those things can't be legal . . . anyway! I'm Professor Elm, but you probably knew that - so who're you two? So many new arrivals, so many - " He looked out of a window, a small plume of smoke still visible to the north-west " - developments, hard to keep track of it all."

 ._O M. Lestat Valentine O_. -rookie Trainer-Giving Ken a brief sideways glance, Lestat stepped forward. "My name is Lestat, Professor." He nodded. "This is Ken." He nodded in the direction of the young man behind him.
"As you said, we are indeed new Trainers." A small smile played across the black-haired boy's face. "Granted, we may have started later on our journeys than most normally would, but we are ready, nonetheless."

~_~Ken Garcia~_~ "You better give me back my cookies or you will burn. Horribly." Ken nodded once, agreeing with Lestat. ""We are sir. And I already know which starter I want if you don't mind." He said respectfully.
Ken glanced out the window also, wondering where the smoke was coming from. He suddenly had a horribly bad feeling that something was happening, but shook it off, paying attention to the Professsor.

 Professor Elm Pokemon Professor "Yes, I am indeed an expert on eggs." "Lestat and Ken . . . wonder why no-one's named after colors anymore . . . anyway!" Elm all but traipsed to the mysterious machine in the right-hand corner of his lab, in which the starter Poke Balls were contained. He tapped it, and three Poke Balls rolled down into their own little slots, the space in which the Balls sat helpfully color coded and corresponding to that Pokemon's element. "Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile. Which one would you like, Ken? If you'd prefer one from another region - " He tapped a large lever, much like the ones you found on old fruit machines, on the side of the contraption. " - pull this and they'll roll down. One pull, Hoenn, two pulls Sinnoh, three pulls Kanto. Simples!" It was only after the word escaped his mouth that Elm realized quoting the meerkat so often on television sounded slightly infantile. To put it mildly.

~_~Ken Garcia~_~ "You better give me back my cookies or you will burn. Horribly." Ken thought carefully... well, for a couple of seconds, before starting to reach for the Pokeball that contained Cyndaquil. "Oh, wait Professor, I almost forgot!", he said, reaching into his pocket for the note his father wrote to Prof. Elm.
It explained how Ken's dad wanted to send over a Charmander that Elm should have recieved, and Ken could also choose one of Johto's starters. Ken handed over the note and waited patiently while the Professor read it.

 ._O M. Lestat Valentine O_. -rookie Trainer-'A Sinnoh starter...?' Lestat blinked his midnight-blue eyes in surprise. 'This might be easier than I thought, actually...'
While Ken was deciding on his starter, Lestat weighed the options that each of the three Sinnnoh starters brought to the proverbial table.
Turtwig was first for debate. 'All-around decent.' He nodded to himself. 'If memory serves, one of the Johto Frontier Brains has a Torterra...not my cup of tea, necessarily.'
Next was Chimchar. 'Horribly over-used, in my opinion.' He shook his head slightly. 'And I'm not really fond of flaming monkeys.'
Which left Piplup. 'I can see myself owning an Empoleon one day, I suppose~.' He slammed a fist into his open palm. 'Alright, I've decided.'
'I'll go with Piplup for my starter pokemon.' Nodding to himself once again, Lestat brought his head up(he had it bent down in thought) to face Prof. Elm, waiting as Ken took a PokeBall containing his starter of choice, a Cyndaquil.
"Might I be so bold as to ask for a Sinnoh starter, professor?" He chuckled to himself. "Being a native of Sinnoh, I believe it would be the best choice."

 Professor Elm Pokemon Professor "Yes, I am indeed an expert on eggs." The note was the reminder that Elm needed - folding it up and sliding it into his pocket, he routed around inside a few of his cabinets, eventually finding a small black device not unlike a car remote. He clicked on it, and the sound of a Charmander's cry could be heard very faintly - he grabbed one of the many Poke Balls on his desk, the center glowing a faint red, and presented it to Ken. "Yours, I believe. Feel free to pick one from yonder contraption as well. As for you, Mr Valentine . . ." The note hadn't just reminded him about Ken's Pokemon - no, there was something here for Lestat as well, sent on for him . . . One click of the Ball Finder and a muffled cry later, Elm offered the Sinnoh-born trainer an unmarked Poke Ball. "This was sent on for you by your father, in addition to the standard."

 ._O M. Lestat Valentine O_. -rookie Trainer-"My father sent me a pokemon...?" Lestat blinked, taking the un-marked PokeBall from Elm. What could his father have sent him?
He would find out later, more than likely. With Ken receiving his Cyndaquil, the black-haired Trainer approached the machine that contained the PokeBalls for the starter pokemon. Two quick pulls of the larger lever, and the Sinnoh starters were in front of him.
'Right, then.' He picked up the blue PokeBall with small white spots on it, marked much like a Piplup.
"I believe I'll go with this one, Professor." Maximizing the Ball, he watched the device open, releasing a small blue penguin-like pokemon...
...that was female. 'Pi~iplu~up...' The Penguin Pokemon shook her head briskly for a few moments.
Now for what his father sent him. Lestat maximized the second PokeBall he had, watching as it released his father's gift pokemon...
...a male Larvitar. 'Lar-Larvitar :3' The small green pokemon grinned up at Lestat, waving.
'A Larvitar...' A bemused grin formed on his face. 'Well, now.'
