Violet City  DESCRIPTION -Violet City is the first real step on a new trainer's path to the Pokemon League, with the first Gym in the Johto region recognized by the Pokemon League situated here. Aside from this, the City also boasts a Pokemon Academy where new trainers can learn how to raise their Pokemon, as well as a Poke Center and Poke Mart. A very unique feature of Violet City is the Sprout Tower that lies across a small lake in the north, a sort of training dojo populated by trainers who mostly use Bellsprout to battle. There are three entrances to this City - one from the east via Route 31, leading from Cherrygrove City, one from the south via Route 32, leading to Union Cave (which has a Poke Center just outside it) and one from the west via Route 36, leading not only to Ecruteak City, but Johto's National Park and the Ruins of Alph as well. LOCATION -Violet City is located in central Johto. PEOPLE - While the second largest city in all of Johto, it has only half the population of its largest, Goldenrod - only a few residences exist, with the majority of the town focused on Pokemon training. The Gym used to be run by Falkner and his understudies, who specialized in Flying-type Pokemon - at present, Merci Lovelace is the Gym Leader here. The Academy plays host to many aspiring trainers, many of whom do not yet own a Pokemon. Finally, the Sprout Tower plays host to a number of Buddhist monks who train Bellsprout and Hoothoot while teaching of peaceful coexistence. RESOURCES/EVENTS/PLACES OF INTEREST - Poke Center: - Center in which to heal Pokemon and use the PC system. This particular Center has been painted a mellow purple to match with Violet's atmosphere. Poke Mart: - Small store selling essential supplies like Poke Balls, Potions and Status Healers. Violet City Gym: The first Gym of the Johto League. Merci Lovelace, a master of the Grass-type, currently calls it hers - but don't let her position as first Gym Leader fool you; she and her Pokemon have spines of steel. Sprout Tower: Large swaying tower run by an order of monks who train a very narrow variety of Pokemon. MYTH/LORE - The Buddhist monks of Sprout Tower, which is built around a flexing central pillar, believe that the structure was built by a hundred-foot Bellsprout.

"Thanks for a fun battle, and make good use of that Sunny Day TM!" Katsumi's voice was heard from the front room of the Gym, where she had walked the challenger out. "Well, that was fun. But poor Hiinu is tired out now, aren't you boy?"
The puppy Pokemon whined a little and jumped into Katsumi's arms. "Watch the Gym for a little while, could you? I need to take everyone to the Pokemon Center," she said to her Gym's assistant, making sure all of her pokeballs were on her belt before stepping out the door.
As soon as she stepped outside she could feel the warmth of the air and a grin appeared on her face. The Growlithe jumped out of her arms, looking ready to play, but Katsumi simply said, "No, boy, we'll play later," and the Pokemon calmed down. They walked into the Pokemon Center, and Nurse Joy immediately took the Pokeballs from the girl and placed them in the care of her Chansey, who healed them and gave them the rest that they needed. "Thanks Nurse Joy!" she exclaimed once her Pokemon were feeling better.
She took her Pokeballs back and walked outside, headed for the patch of grass south of the Pokemart. As soon as she arrived, she let all of her Pokemon out to play, and she herself sat against a tree, watching them run around.

Pokemon Photographer
Starving ArtistFour days.... And this time they really did get lost. Perhaps taking a detour to get some good pictures hadn't been the smartest idea after all... It didn't help that Mairead and Sophie had only carried enough rations for two days. And seeing as they weren't exactly well known photographers, the photos they took didn't sell for much. Ah the wonderful life of an aspiring artist. At last though, Violet City was in sight. At last. "We made it!" Mairead just about jumped for joy, Sophie letting out a small burst of flame. "Chaaaaaaar!" Mairead just about jumped in surprise at the flames. "Hey! Be careful so you don't burn something! Like me!" Sophie snorted, almost in a 'Who cares' sort of way. Grumbling, Mairead made her way to the city, searching for a place to get something to eat.... Spotting the Pokemart, Mairead smiled. "They'll have something there for sure!" Entering the store, the two took little to no time to restock their supplies, and get something for their lunch, pay for it, and exit the building. Instantly Mairead spotted the 'trainer' and her pokemon on the grass. A second of surprise, before she grinned. "Do you mind if I take a few pictures?" she asked, lifting her camera up so the girl would spot the item. All the while, Sophie the Charmander was scarfing down her part of their lunch as fast as she could.

"Mind? No, no, not at all! Take as many as you'd like!" Katsumi was used to people taking pictures of her pokemon--especially since she had an odd coloured Ninetales. Her Miltank was also a different colour than most, but that Pokemon was in storage since she was remaining at the gym for a while. "Your Charmander will fit right in here with all my fire types, if he'd like to play!" The girl offered a smile, and turned to look at her Pokemon.
Poofy, the Quilava, and Nicky, the Flareon, were wrestling as Iris sat watching them with her deep red eyes. Hiinu and Silka ran around chasing each other, barking the whole time. Katsumi laughed a little before standing up and running off into the gym. "Be right back!" Her pokemon could take care of themselves should the girl try to steal them--she was sure of that.
Coming back out, she held her egg in her arms. "I've also got this egg...but it won't be too interesting in pictures most likely." She grinned. "I'm Katsumi, by the way. And you are?"

Pokemon PhotographerMairead grinned. "Thanks!" She crouched down, camera to her eye as she took a few a few shots, adjusting the zoom and settings to accommodate the racing and playing pokemon. It wasn't because of the oddly colored Ninetales that she took the pictures, pokemon in action just made amazing pictures. She only paused when the girl mentioned her Charmander, Sophie, who tilted her head when she was spoken about. Of course, when she heard the 'he' part, she seemed to puff up, an annoyed expression on her face. Laughing, Mairead poked the pokemon on the forehead. "Well, that's up to her to decide. But I don't think she enjoyed you calling her a guy to much." She paused. "Well, Sophie? You going to go play?" Sophie almost seemed to pout, hopping from Mairead's shoulder, though didn't join the other pokemon just yet. Instead, the Charmander just watched them, perched on her hind legs and standing as tall as she could, trying to appear bigger. Putting the camera back to her eye, she took a few more shots while the trainer ran into the local gym, not really paying attention. It wasn't often she could get pictures of pokemon playing. Finally though, she lowered her camera, taking a seat on the grass to watch the other fire type pokemon and her Sophie who was trying not to look so small among them. She smiled when the trainer came back with an egg, lifting her camera up once more and taking a single shot of the trainer and egg. "What are you talking about, eggs can be just as interesting in pictures as anything else." Mairead paused, her smile softening. "Mairead. Mairead Lorraine. Aspiring Pokemon Photographer." Right then, her stomach growled. She blushed slightly. "Emphasis on the 'Aspiring'. Me and Sophie are more around the 'Starving Artists' stage right now." She set her camera down, pulling out one of the packed sandwiches she'd bought.

The Charmander puffed up as it was mentioned, and not to long after she had come back the photographer had told her that the pokemon was a female. Katsumi blushed and frowned. "Oh, I'm sorry! Here, would you like a snack to make up for it? As long as it's okay with your owner!" She took a Pokemon treat shaped like a little heart out of her pocket. Noticing her own Pokemon perk up, she threw a handful over towards them, and they all ravaged them. Except for Ninetales, who simply stood up, grabbed one, and ate it on her way over to Katsumi and Mairead.
"Tales...nine nine. Tale tales niiine." [Hello, Miss Katsumi. Young Charmander.] Katsumi stroked the top of the Pokemon's head. "Hey there, Iris. Keeping an eye on the others as always, huh?" She offered the eloquent pokemon a kind smile before turning back to the Photographer.
"Aspiring, huh? I'd be willing to pay you for some of those pictures of my team to hang in the Gym, if that's the case. The walls are pretty bare in there." Not that it really mattered, due to the set up of the gym, but it would be nice to get something up in the lobby area. She grinned. "And until then, I'd be more than happy to get you something to eat!"

Pokemon PhotographerSophie dropped back to all fours when she spotted the pokemon treat. "Charmander!" The Charmander instantly forgot about being called a him, scurrying over to snatch the treat, then retreat back to where Mairead sat in the grass. She wasted no time, munching away like one of the other pokemon might try to take it. Mairead just laughed at her pokemon's display, the little creature never ceasing to amuse the photographer. Treat gone, Sophie scurried back to face the Ninetales, balancing on her hind legs to try and stare eye to eye with the tail fox. "Yeah, Aspiring." Mairead paused, her expression going from cheerful to shock. "Really?! That'd be great!" She smiled sheepishly when Katsumi mentioned getting her something to eat. "Oh, we got something. We were just stupid and got lost on our way here, four days with two days worth of rations." She laughed softly.

Pokemon Trainer/Breeder
"Think you can take me? Think again." Danny whistled as he strolled into the town, his hands linked together behind his head and his bag slung comfortably over his shoulders. His favorite pokemon Flash was sitting on his shoulders, his front paws and head resting on Danny's head as he bobbed up and down slightly with each step.
"So Flash. Who do ya think we'll meet today?"
"Lea," was the only response he received from the Leafeon.
Although Danny couldn't perfectly understand pokemon speak, he'd been with Flash long enough to know what he was saying sometimes. So he responded as if he were having a conversation with another human. "Yea, you're right. It doesn't matter as long as we meet someone." As one of his green-tinted strands of hair fell across his eyes, he brushed it off to the side with his hand, only to watch it fall in his way once again. He huffed at the hair in his hair, but that didn't do anything. Growing swiftly impatient with his hair, Danny once again pushed it behind his ear and said in a low voice so only he, and maybe Flash, could hear him. "Alright you. Stay where you are or I swear I'll cut you off with a rusty pair of scissors."
...Okay, so it may seem a bit weird that an eighteen year old was threatening his hair, but at the moment Danny didn't care. It annoyed him and that was the point. Flash lightly knocked him on the head for his stupidity and Danny glared upward at his favorite Leafeon, looking a bit crosseyed at the moment. "Eh, who asked you your opinion?" As he spoke, he tripped on a stray rock sticking out of the ground. As he tottered forward, he flailed his arms at his side to keep his balance. After a moment when he thought he would fall on his face, he slowly righted himself and heaved a sigh of releif. Releif that he didn't fall and releif that no one saw that happen...hopefully.

Katsumi grinned wide. The other girl had gotten so excited! "Of course. It's not a problem!" Katsumi's hand glided along the back and tails of the fox Pokemon as it took a few steps closer to the Charmander, batting at the flame on its tail with a paw for a brief moment. "Tale, ninetaaales..." [ You should thank Miss Katsumi... ] At that, Hiinu's ears perked up and rushed over to the Charmander, barking wildly as though to say "why aren't you playing with us?!" as it jumped up and down. But a quick glance from the Ninetales calmed him down, and the Growlithe simply looked at the Charmander, wanting to play.
"Sorry, Hiinu is just really excitable, aren't you boy?" The Puppy Pokemon whimpered for a moment as though he was being punished, but Katsumi tossed him another treat to cheer him up.
Iris and Hiinu both looked over to where the boy was walking around, and Hiinu barked twice. Katsumi looked over just in time to see him mess with his hair and almost trip. She laughed a little before calling out to him. "Hey, kid! Lookin' for something specific or are you just walking around?" She may have seemed a little like a store clerk, but this was her city. She felt like she should at least speak to all the people that came through.

Pokemon Photographer"Well then, I should take some more pictures, so you can put up the best of them all." She raised her camera again, though didn't snap a picture yet, watching the interaction of her pokemon and the trainer's pokemon through the lens. Sophie looked like she might go into a panic with the much larger fox pokemon pawing at her tail, though only for a moment. Mairead made sure to get a picture of the scene. Finally over her shock, Sophie turned her large eyed gaze to the Ninetales trainer, as if suddenly realizing the person was there and wondering who this person was. "Char-charmander?" (Wait, who's that?) Of course, when the overly excited Growlithe came bounding over as if to tackle her, Sophie looked for cover, finally settling on hiding her head in her paws and curling up to look as small as possible. Mairead laughed softly. "Sophie isn't much when it comes to battling, so if she thinks she's being challenged she usually hides..." She paused. "That's probably why she's still a Charmander after all these years." None the less, Mairead shifted the zoom of the camera a little, snapping a few pictures. When Katsumi spoke to someone else, she glanced up and over, as did Sophie in an almost identical way.

"Think you can take me? Think again." Danny nearly tossed Flash off of his head when he noticed the two girls and their pokemon. Scratching his head nervously, Danny shrugged and walked over closer while Flash tried to hide behind Danny's hair.
"Not really looking for anything specific around here. Me and my pokemon are just kinda wandering around right now. My name's Danny and the Leafeon on my head is Flash. He's usually excited to meet new people. I don't know what his problem is though."
"Lea! Lea lea lea le leafeon LEA LEE!?!" {Dude! Do you see the freaking FIRE-TYPES!?!} each seperate word was accompanied by a hit upside Danny's head as if Leafeon wanted to beat the words into his head.
By the end of Flash's little communication episode, danny's head hurt and a vein was pulsing on his forehead. "You are so luck you're my favorite or I'd kick your--" Aware of the other people around him, he stopped and settle for galring up at his Leafeon.
"As I was going to say before HE interrupted me, I was wondering what are your names?"

Pokemon PhotographerMairead smiled brightly at the newcomer, laughing when the pokemon on his head proceeded to whacking him for some reason. Raising her camera once more, she snapped two frames of the interaction, and then one more as the two were eye to eye, the trainer, named Danny, glaring. "Nice to meet you, Danny. I'm Mairead. Aspiring Pokemon Photographer. And that-" She pointed to the Charmander that still looked like it was in shock from the Growlithe charging in her direction. "Is my assistant and partner Sophie." Sophie perked up then when she heard her name, suddenly standing upright on her hind legs again.

"Think you can take me? Think again." Danny smiled at Mairead as he set Flash on the ground. "That's a very unique name you have, Mairead." When Flash was put on the ground, He hid behind Danny in an attempt to stay awway fron the fire-types.
"And it's nice to meet you as well, Sophie." Danny bent down until he was eye level with the Charmander and gave her a large smile.
"Leale! Leafeon le!" {Danny! let's just go!} Leafeon was scared that one of the fire-type pokemon would accidently set fire to his tail or his air, like what happened in one of his first fights against a fire-type.

As the boy walked over, she smiled. Letting Mairead introduce herself first, she simply watched the Leafeon's nervous expression. The Ninetales looked at it calmly with its deep red eyes, speaking two syllables. "Taaales. Nine." [ Don't worry. We won't hurt you. ] Katsumi grinned and extended a hand as she introduced herself. "Name's Katsumi Kokoro, but Katsumi works just fine! And this is...Iris, Hiinu, Poofy, Silka, Nicky, and my egg!" she said, gesturing to Ninetales, Growlithe, Quilava, Houndoom, Flareon, and the egg in that order as she spoke their names. She giggled a little as Ninetales looked at her, seemingly speaking into her mind.
"You're right, you're right. No need at all to remember their names unless we become good friends, right? I've got too many to remember, I know! But I feel much closer to my Pokemon if I give them names. What kind of Gym Leader isn't close to her Pokemon?" She knelt down, setting the egg down next to her. Iris walked over to it gracefully and sat down, wrapping her tails around it to keep it warm. She held a hand out towards the Leafeon, wanting to pet it and show that neither she nor her Pokemon meant any harm.
"Being a Grass-Type you're probably nervous about all these Fire Pokemon, aren't you? Well, don't worry! We won't attack unless you want a battle!" She grinned happily at the Pokemon, always glad to see a new face around.

Pokemon PhotographerMairead laughed, shaking her head. "Thanks... I think?" She wasn't to sure whether it was a compliment or not. Seeing as normally people didn't comment on her name. Sure it wasn't a common name... But still. Sophie's shock seemed to vanish when the human boy came eye to eye with her. She tilted her head, fixing him with a strange look. "Mander?" (huh?) A few seconds later and she grinned back... of sorts. Reaching forward she went to rest her front paws against his cheeks, raising as high as she could on her toes to stare right into his eyes. Mairead just laughed again, camera up once more and taking a few shots of the interaction. She then returned her camera to Katsumi's pokemon, taking a few more pictures. When she lowered the camera, she noticed something. Only one shot left on this roll of film.... She sighed, glancing to the Leafeon and smiling softly. "Would you like you're picture taken to?"
