Ruins of Alph

DESCRIPTION -
The Ruins of Alph is an area filled with mystery. A scientific expedition has been based here for quite some time now, studying strange puzzles and symbols on the walls - the Ruins would seem to be some remnant of a past civilization. Very few of the puzzles have been solved by the scientists, due to their perplexing nature, and so their attentions have turned to the strange signals that come through on a PokeGear's radio at a very specific channel. It has been hypothesized that, were the right puzzles to be solved, mysterious Pokemon would return to the area.
And it has been further hypothesized that bringing a certain Pokemon here will reveal an area beyond human comprehension . . .

LOCATION -
The Ruins are located in central Johto, south-west of Violet City. However, some suspect that certain areas transcend normal space . . .

PEOPLE -
No-one lives here save a small expedition of dedicated scientists - they're quite willing to inform visitors of their research, but they are often busy trying to unlock the Ruins' secrets, so it'd probably be best not to disturb them.

RESOURCES/EVENTS/PLACES OF INTEREST -
Expedition Base - There is a small building in the southern corner of the Ruins set up by the scientists to allow long-term study.

Secret Chambers - Who knows? Perhaps you could be the one to unlock the Ruins of Alph's secrets? It has been said that the remnants of a very rich, very powerful civilization lie somewhere in these Ruins . . .

MYTH/LORE -
Some of the radio signals have been interpreted as the cries of a certain rainbow-plumaged legendary bird, while it is all but certain that the Ruins of Alph get their name from the Unown that scientists suspect once flocked here - after all, the Unown are in the shape of the Alphabet . . .

~Team Rocket never hurt anyone, so long as they didn't interfere...~

After leaving the battle Herz and the grunts had parted ways. He went to heal his Pokemon. Of course he didn't do so in Goldenrod City. He had traveled through the tunnels and come up outside Violet City. He took the chance to go into the city and heal his Pokemon. He then left the city before any police that may have been called arrived. He had made his way to the Ruins of Alph for some solitude. Here in a closed off area of the ruins he let out his team of Pokemon. Watching as they each let out a roar and stretched. Fern went and sat next to Herz's legs. Knight was looking around while Dredge was inspecting Prince. "We are going to be doing some training here in the ruins." he told his team with a smile. He had been informed some odd Pokemon show up in the ruins if you checked the right areas. And even around the ruins there were wild Pokemon to battle. He knew that in this area were weaker Pokemon and save for Prince would probably not benefit much from this training. "Let's go find some Pokemon then..."

Trust me, I'm e x p e r i e n c e d.

Zanna sent out Sundae, and hugged him close soon feeding him a sweet poffin. His favorite, she hopped on his back; Aipom hung tightly to her neck yet she was still comfortable. Happily she climbed on, the giant bird craned his neck and opened its wings as it awaited for her to give it orders on where to go. "To Ruins of Alph bud!" she told him happily he took off and just let her enjoy the ride as she stroked his feather feeling free.

Poor Aipom clung to her jacket and soon got inside it, she giggled feeling so very free. Zanna actually smiled a real smile, at this point she had forgotten what she was so upset about. Zanna had her pokemon, her family, and that was all she needed. Her free hand began to stroke Aipom's fur and he smiled at her soon eating a poffin that he found in her pocket. Soon enough she found herself with all of her pokemon released at Ruins of Alph.

Dewgong happily splashed around in the water, Maganium stretched her neck and began to play battling with Aipom who had jumped out of her coat and onto the ground. This place was full of mystery as her pokemon knew how to train themsels, Zanna liked cheering them on. Kloud soon sniffed around for Seth but he didn't smell the male anywhere near here. He looked at his trainer skeptically but soon was hit with some water that Dewgong splashed at him then play battled but Dewgong had the battle sight advantage.

Zanna laughed and let her feet hang in the water, her pokemon enjoying themselves except for Ninetails who seemed to be sniffing around for something around them. Like Zanna knew this place was full of mystery and Ninetails was so tempted to figure it out. It didn't even begin to strike Zanna that she was very close to Violet City. Of course who would if they were having fun?

Zanna smiled soon seeing her Ninetails dart off into one of the caves, "Where are you going Spark?" she said going after her and holding her back. The pokemon resisted quite a bit before looking at the trainer with a skeptical look. Soon enough she found herself walking into the cave, her pokemon still trained out there. Ninetails sniffed the ground and began find a ladder, "I don't think
we're supposed to go down there Sparkle, let's go maybe some other time/
" she said clicking and the pokemon obeyed.

She saw her pokemon still training except for Kloud who looked at her angrily. Zanna knew he knew what happened "Kloud, I'm sorry but I had to leave..I didn't want to make him hate me forever." she reached to pet it but he only blew out some smoke and kind of ignored her..This was the first time he had ever done this to her. It made her want to cry "Well if that's how you wanna be, after all we've been through then fine Kloud.." she told him. Sparkle the Ninetails looked at him with a disappointed look. Zanna recalled all of her pokemon but Meganium and Kloud, the green creature looked at her trainer and snuggled against her shoulder. "Boy..The disappointment never stops.." she told herself and turned away from the creature.

It looked at her with worry now with an apologetic look on its face, Zanna had turned away began to stroke Flourisha's neck; the meganium happily appreciated it and began to walk over with her to some grass to train her. Kloud laid there and look around soon smelling a familiar scent now he was debating whether or not to go after it.

Kloud laid its head down as Zanna encountered a couple of rattata, they fought and dodged very well for a couple of rats. Of course Flourisha's Razor Leaf, she smiled as Zanna fed her some poffins of her choosing which were always of course the sweet and sour, just like her personality. Soon Zanna recalled her and walked back over to Kloud, stroking his fur . "Seth and I had some differences and we just mutually didn't want to be around each other.." she told him of course he looked at her with a face that read 'You're lying, That's a load of Radicate!' Her eyes rolled as she looked his face "What?! It's not like he'll listen to me now! What was I supposed to do?! 'Oh Seth! I really like you, I'm sorry for how I acted!'..No! I tried that and it didn't work!" Kloud looked shocked at her and came over and licked fer face a bit as she was holding back tears knowing what she did WAS childish but, it was too late to take it back.

Soon enough Kloud scooped her up as her Pokegear began to ring "Yeah Dad?" she said soon nearly choking on spit as he replied to her. "It's hatchign?! Oh my god! That's awesome I'll be right there!" Zanna yelled and soon hung up, "Kloud, We gotta get back to goldenrod! I'll see you there!" she told him soon recalling her which maybe wasn't wise considering she fell on her bottom. Zanna was too excited to feel the pain as she called out Sundae. He scooped her up off the ground and they zoomed across the sky of Violet city over to Goldenrod in a matter of minutes.

After...about 20 minutes of flying she landed Sundae right in front of the house. Sundae loyally sat atop of her father's house and cleaned its feathers. Zanna released Kloud as they entered her part-time abode.

Elegantly through a small gust of silvery wind landed what seemed to be a Skamory in all it's great glory and potential. The brief sunlight glistened off her shiny exterior and as she looked around at the scenery- her true beauty was shown, something of which anyone would take time to marvel at. As she stepped forward- she folded her wings back, hiding most of the brilliant red.
A small girl dressed completely in blue and green lay fast asleep on the pokemon, still sucking her thumb from the very start of the journey. It hadn't been long since the elite 4 member Shizuko Ishiko had travelled from Ilex forest, yet she had still managed to fall into a childish slumber. Her teal hair that was tied in the most precise of bunches flickered over the side of Skamory's metallic coat. She was an adorable sight- but she had come for a reason and without further ado, Skamory took out one of her wings in order to prod the sleeping child and progress her awakening.

Ishiko slowly opened her eyes, taking her thumb out momentarily to brush the hair from her face and rub her dazed eyes once more before attempting to sit up. Skamory assisted until she was fully seated and briefly awake.
"..are we there already Stark?" She said in a small a childish tone, followed by a quick nod and motherly smile from the steel pokemon.

Ishiko dangled her legs over the side, until she was confident enough to let herself down onto the floor of the beautiful ruins they had travelled too.
Currently Ishiko was seeing the legendary sights of Johto, after all she found it so intriguing.
As she recovered from her dazed motion, Ishiko placed her thumb in her mouth and looked around the many buildings- tattered and worn but with flowers sprouting from the green all around it. Truly it was a beautiful sight, much like the forest she had been to earlier. It seemed that no one was present in the area so far, well no one she knew of straight away. Everything was so calm and peaceful.

She left a small moment of silence and a blank stare, before Ishiko turned to Skamory with her pokeball. "You've been really good." she said, knowing how tired Stark would have been by now "rest." she declared allowed the steel type to return to the sanctity of the pokemon and sleep. Ishiko would bring more pokemon out if necessary but until then- she walked off slightly, books in hands and her eyes following every detail of the ruins. What new things would she learn of this place?

||== Kanra opened his eyes at the sound of his togekiss, Skye, mewing for him to wake up. He yawned as he stretched, and sat up on top of the pokemon. He looked down. It looked like they really had finally arrived at the ruins of Alph. At Kanra's signal, Skye quickly descended- nearly dropping straight down- towards the ruins. Kanra gazed at the horizon in those few, fleeting, moments. The sun was up, illuminating the beautiful landscape, and the rush of the wind as he fell felt great. It was so different from the city-type of environment he had grown up in in Veilstone. He would have to pay a visit to Goldenrod city while he was here, he heard it was very urbanized, which sounded great to Kanra, having been away from the city for so long. However, that would be counterproductive, so Kanra turned his attention back to the task at hand. Looking around, he found that the ruins really were interesting. He had landed right in the center of the ruins, and it looked like there was plenty of looking around to be done. He laughed out loud, not caring if there was anyone else around to hear him. For the first time in a long time, Kanra was truly interested in something. It wasn't long before he caught sight of a young girl. It seemed a little odd for someone as young as her to be in place like the ruins of Alph, so Kanra figured that she had pokemon of her own, and was likely here because she was the daughter of one of the researchers. Regardless, she looked like she had some knowledge of the place- evidenced by the book she carried, and by her unworried gait- so he returned Skye to her pokeball and walked up to her. "Haha, excuse me, miss. I haven't been here before, but... legends and myths have piqued my interest lately, so here I am. You look like you know your way around this place, so you wouldn't mind if I came with you, yes? I'll even help chase off any wild pokemon that might want to bother us." While he may have sounded normal, on the inside he was picking apart everything he had just said, and soon realized that perhaps he shouldn't have added that last bit. Despite being a "little girl," anyone could have a strong team of pokemon nowadays- especially since he had even heard that the champion was only 12 years old.

Ishiko was sitting happily, humming to herself as she dipped her small pale toes into the water that divided the areas of ruin. She was head deep in one of the many myth and theory books she had packed to accompany her and starve off the boredom as much as she knew. There was a certain place of mind were Ishiko would usually loose herself in- the constant chase for knowledge... Ishiko would be one hell of a small woman when she grew up.

She'd almost tuned out completely of human reality- still scanning the books every word, going over it twice in next to no time. She was still sucking thoughtfully on the thumb and to her the ruins seemed completely quiet..
She'd almost ignored the man that had approached her COMPLETELY. It took her a few seconds of having her back face to him before the words he'd said finally sunk in a caught Ishiko's attention.

She turned briefly- her toes still in the water, making ripples. Her wide teal eyes glistened a warm hue, and her bunches that matched to the colour where neatly behind her back. She had taken her thumb out to turn the page briefly before being approached. Usually Ishiko wouldn't be the talkative one to strangers and on the arrival of the chirpy seeming man Ishiko took no hesitation to shove her thumb right back in her mouth and remain silent. Though her vacant stare never seemed to leave. She seemed perfectly calm as she pushed herself with her free arm, her soaked feet making a small puddle as she taped her toes in it.

The man before her was rather tall, or maybe Ishiko was just incredibly small... She was 9 after all. He wore a dark scheme of clothing, including a jacked with a fur trim. The entirety of his look matched his hair and of course slightly menacing look. This wasn't helped by the slightly hostile laughter that had managed to escape him despite efforts to try hide it- well that was Ishiko's analysis regardless.
Her mind turned to the topic at hand, despite his rather intimidating appearance, the man before her seemed as lost as a young Mareep without a Flaffy to guide it. Ishiko giggled at the thought...
Though she was still focusing on the fact, and was still much to shy to speak- though it never showed in appearance. Ishiko always looked so vacant and calm, no one could tell her thoughts or emotions half the time- and for an opponent in battle, that was extremely intimidating...

She looked from side to side, eyeing the place and contemplating the offer. Though the thought of watching the man chase of the various wild pokemon arose another giggle. She could very well fend for herself. She wasn't in the elite 4 for nothing!
She nodded, her bunches bobbing slightly as she did so, and upon kicking the water off her feet she folded some books away and picked up her small school shoes. No harm could come of helping a lost person could it?

||== Hands in the pockets on the front of his jacket, Kanra was deep in thought, even though he was paying close attention to the girl. He realized that he didn't know too much about the ruins, so it was natural to seek instruction, but the girl didn't seem as innocent as he had imagined. She didn't seem particularly talkative, either. This was a good day- already he was amused. The girl also seemed amused, so Kanra decided that there were two reasonable explanations, either the girl was just an immature little kid who didn't who was giggling at something stupid, or she was actually on an intellectual level higher than most of the people he knew, and judging by the girl's expressions, he guessed it was the latter. Kanra was delighted at the thought, but he didn't let any sign of what he was thinking wander onto his face. Taking the girl's nod to mean that she would guide him for now, Kanra was glad that his job had instantly become easier. Being in this good mood, and not pursuing any particular objective, he decided that it wasn't worth it to over-analyze the girl, so he settled on: "I'll respect her, and hopefully I won't be disappointed in my expectations". "Thank you, Miss. I'm grateful for the company. My name is... well, let's just say you can call me Kanra- and you might be...?" Kanra spoke sincerely. Though he had tried to suppress the part of his mind he had trained to be analytic, he couldn't help but realize that he had offered his moniker as a sign of good faith, and to be completely honest, he really meant no harm.

Ishiko had now fully stood, and upon brushing her skirt off she turned to the man before her slowly slipping into her socks which was not long to be followed by the small polished school shoes. She turned to the man with her usual blank stare, he's asked to explore the place and pair up with her- of course from this assumption she could tell he had no idea of her position, though it worried her not. It might be quite funny to view his reactions after sending out such strong pokemon, Ishiko always enjoyed it.
She turned on her heel realised the taller male known as 'Kanra' was asking for her to exchange her name to him, though she took only a second to place her thumb out of her mouth, turn back to him with her ever blank stare and mumbled out "Shizuko Ishiko." before sticking her thumb back between her lips and returning her head forward.

She lent down to pick up her bag covered in (again) teal themed colour, something that corresponded well with the natural colour of her eyes and hair. She was a seemingly darling little girl but her wrath of power against an opponent was mighty. She wasn't in the elite for nothing.

She finished with her things and as she turned to Kanra, she out stretched a hand insinuating for the older male to hold onto it. She was very small and was fast enough to lose the man before she'd even seen anything for herself. Once Ishiko saw something exciting... BOLT. She was off.

Though that's what she seemed to tell herself, truth was some things scared her- the feeling of not knowing what sorts of secrets the ruins held or told.
Though as she stared up at the tall man, her small figure beside her and thumb still in her mouth she managed to mumbled out more words.
"Hold Ishiko's hand please." she said politely warming up to her partner for the time being and ending it with a cute and innocent smile.

For a while they wondered around the place- but it was a slight shock when Ishiko's Poké gear went of with a series of bleebs. "... Oh." she mumbled, her poké gear had managed to locate another member of the elite. This was a chance too good to miss- after wondering around for the last few days this finding them would be a good thing. It was rare young Ishiko could get out.
She turned to the man with apologetic eyes. "Ishiko must go, but here is the main building." she said in a quiet tone, before placing a pokeball in her hand and releasing her Skamory. With Her mind straight- she flew, down, swooped the little girl up and headed...

...to Goldenrod city.

||== What a strange little girl. Kanra held her hand when he was asked, and remained silent as they walked, instead observing their surroundings. The ruins were so interesting. All the strange markings- what could they mean? He could barely contain his elation. There was more to this place than meets the eye. They were quiet, but Kanra noticed every now and then some of the symbols moved. Or what seemed to be symbols moved. Pokemon? His little companion soon had to leave, but Kanra didn't mind. "It was nice meeting you. Bye, Ishiko!" He called with a wave as she flew away. The main building? He contemplated sticking around, but soon decided there were more efficient ways of learning about the ruins than exploring them himself. For later reference, Kanra spent nearly half an hour photographing every inch of the place from every conceivable angle before leaving. 'Now then...' thought Kanra, 'I have the code, but where's the key?' Fortunately, Kanra knew of a place where such information was stored. Conveniently, it was quite nearby. Exiting the ruins, he purposefully stalked towards the research center, kicking the door open to the astonishment of the archaeologists inside. "Hurry up and copy any records you don't want to lose, because I'm taking the rest with me! It'd be such a shame to lose the fruits of so much research, wouldn't it?" He called, holding his knife towards the bewildered scientists. There was much hurried activity in the next couple minutes, after which Kanra released Sierra, "Time's up!" He collected every paper in sight while Sierra kept the frightened researchers in check. Slipping them into a manila folder, he checked to make sure he hadn't missed anything, and slipped the folder into his jacket before returning Sierra and walking out of the building, leaving the stunned archaeologists gaping at what had just happened. Once he got outside he wasted no time releasing Skye and flying away- after all, he had places to be.

The light fog that often surrounded the Ruins of Alph seemed to deepen as it was approached; a clear sign that if this were an anime, there would be something evil hidden within the crumbled buildings. Fog, however, wasn't a problem to one Gym Leader, as he flew in on Caps the Delibird.

"Just set us down here girl," he said softly, and the pair began to descend towards the clearing. When they reached the ground, Uria recalled Caps and examined his surroundings. Recently, there had been strange sightings of the unidentified nature around the ruins, and so the Ice Trainer had decided to look into it.

As a makeshift source of light, a Froslass was released and began to emit a dim purple glow over the cavern walls. Uria didn't really know what he was looking for, but the Ruins of Alph had always been a mystery, so whether he found the source of the abnormality or not, he was almost certainly going to run into an adventure.

Nodding to Glassy, Uria continued into the ruins.

Kaiser Fortunello

Perfect. Marvelous! This was the best! His travels had taken him back to his first ever exploration site, the old Ruins of Alph. His extensive studies on this site made him a known figure on the grounds, examining tablets and climbing down into the chamber. He carted around a radio, tuned to a channel that picked up a strange tune. Studies had theorized this to be communication waves between unknown, and Kaiser was all to excited to be on the front end of this discovery. The sound echoed as he wandered down the halls, eagerly reading along walls. "The Unknown." He echoed, reading along the passage. What ancient civilization worshiped these beings, and based an entire language off of them? Kaiser was excited to figure out who. "Oh to have access to Dialga's abilities at this point!" He yelled excitedly into the darkness, a faint light glowing from his Chandelure, hanging in the air behind him. "Chaaanndd." It echoed, as Kaiser went through his notebook, a leather bound small book he kept on his person. It was "Kaiser's Fortune" and the wealth of his knowledge and studies, even the things he learned that he didn't tell people about. The book was a treasure, mostly to Kaiser, whom had not finished it. Kaiser was adorned with a few things he had from his explorations, his favorite being a shawl he discovered in an offering chest in a place called the Sinjoh ruins, a small place that held connections to the far away continent of Sinnoh. Kaiser had a theory that when the civilization that made the shine was flourishing, Sinnoh was closer, or even attached still to the landmass of Johto and Kanto. The shawl was an offering to a pokemon known as Palkia, which ruled space. Kaiser closed his book, grinning. Between the pages of notes, of course, Kaiser kept detailed drawings of women he wanted to remember, and had wooed at one point. Eccentricity was a loved attribute to some, others only saw it as lunacy. "Chandelure, be weary. The Unown still roam this place at times. They won't bother us, so don't attack unless attacked."

Not too far off from Kaiser, a Zoroark was munching his way through a packed lunch - his 'owners', Mr and Mrs Pond, had a tendency to load him up with many many sweet things and send him on his way, seemingly believing that his stomach was infinite and capable of sustaining it all.
As it happened, they were quite correct.
Devlin finished off the last chocolate chip cookie, licking his fur clean of crumbs and brushing off the errant chunks from his Hawaiian t-shirt before replacing his fez upon his head. He grabbed his picnic basket (Mrs Pond was nothing if not old-fashioned) and began to make his way around the Ruins - nice place to have a picnic, even if it did feel a bit like an Indiana Jones film set at times.

Augh! He knew they were around, and though they were easy to pick off, in numbers they were like bees. Kaiser knew it was time to leave, so he climbed the ladder, his Chandelure returned to its pokeball. Crawling out, he left the small building and walked out into the open, putting his book away and rummaging through his bag. "Apple time." He said, biting into the fruit, only to spot a rather odd scene. "Shirt. Pants. Hat. Zoroark." Calculations in his brain nearly exploded, only registering as a simple tilt of his head. Sheer curiosity held him, and he drew a simple pokeball. They were the lowest level of ball to use on a pokemon, and against a Zoroark, rare and healthy, such a thing hardly had a chance. He just wanted to see if it was owned or just mental. With a strange look on his face, Kaiser chucked the ball at the pokemon's head.
