Cianwood City

DESCRIPTION -
Cianwood City is one of the smaller cities in Johto, usually only visited in order to fight at the gym situated in the remote settlement or to get to the Safari Zone accessible through the Cliff Edge Gate. Despite this, it is a relatively pleasant place to live - if you're one for solitude and routine, that is.

LOCATION -
Cianwood is located in eastern Johto.

PEOPLE -
People here are usually surprised to meet travelers, but most certainly hospitable - since so few of them venture through the Whirl Islands to get to Olivine, they rarely meet new people, and thus they're eager to get a hold of the latest gossip and the like.

RESOURCES/EVENTS/PLACES OF INTEREST -
Poke Center: - As with all of Johto's major cities, Cianwood has a Poke Center for trainers to rest their Pokemon, usually after traversing the Whirl Islands.

Cianwood Pharmacy: - While Cianwood possess no Poke Mart, it does have a small Pharmacy that deals in Full Restores, Revives and the like, as well as a sideline in SecretPotion, for those illnesses that just can't be shaken by anything else.

Cianwood Gym: - Cianwood possesses the sixth gym officially recognized by the Pokemon League, led by Mark Lassiter who specializes in Psychic type Pokemon.

MYTH/LORE -
Most of the legends and lore of Cianwood are focused around the Whirl Islands.

Isis wasn't a stranger in these waters. Often times, the people from Olivine would pay for her service in transporting supplies to Cianwood, and other times she'd carry travels across the water to the city. Though that had been a few months now. She and her pokemon had decided to go visit her home town of Pacifidlog Town, all the way in Hoenn. But they were back now. And apparently no one needed ferrying that day.

Deciding it had been far to long since she'd last gone swimming in these waters, she released all her pokemon(other then Runt, seeing as he was 40 feet long.) into the water. When she didn't jump in immediately, she was given several funny looks. A small, soft smile touched her lips.
"I'll be in in a minute."

The four water pokemon started to play with out her, Scooter and Jasper playing as Hazel followed Jasper with a dreamy look, Lila watching lazily but protectively over the three.

Isis just watched from the beach, that small smile still on her lips. Finally she sighed, burying her toes in the sand and gazing upward to gaze at the clouds, brushing some of her black locks from her eyes. Such a nice day. It made her just want to fall asleep right here on the sand.

A shadow fell over Cianwood city as a five-foot metal bird circled overhead. It suddently swooped down, closing in fast on the pokemon centre. It suddenly opened its full wingspan and skidded to a stop in front of the pokemon centre. Aitrus climbed off the back, petting the Skarmory's head, saying "Thanks Eve." He grabbed two pokeballs from his belt, and released the Gardevoir and the Gallade inside. He then violently cracked his neck, and rubbing it he announced "We're here!"
Nathaniel smiled and screeched "Devoir" with joy as he rushed towards the water. Vivian shook her head. "Galla," she muttered as she followed slowly behind him.
Aitrus reluctantly approached the coast, remembering that incident on Cinnibar all those years ago. He was mostly over it, but still couldn't get those images out of his mind. He regained his senses and reached for his belt again. "Alright guys, everybody out!"
He launched his remaining three pokeballs, out of which sprung a Gyarados, Feraligatr and Misdreavus. Cuddles immediately wrapped himself around Aitrus affectionately before following Chompsy to the water. Madeline drifted around Aitrus, as she normally did, staying just out of his grasp. Aitrus felt safer with his pokemon out, and approached the coastline, watching his pokemon wandering on the beach and splashing in the water. Chompsy and Cuddles were having a friendly sparring match, Nathaniel was building a sand structure while Vivian, resting, watched him. He smiled warmly, taking in the sun himself.

Isis did notice the shadow of a pokemon fly overhead, but paid it no mind. Probably just a trainer coming to challenge the gym. It was one of the only reasons people came to the small city other then the Safari Zone. She just watched her pokemon play, chasing each other out in the ocean. Finally she sighed, rising to her feet. She slipped her shoes off, taking a few steps into the cold water. None of her water pokemon noticed her until she was waist deep, Jasper spotting her out of the corner of his eye. The Huntail let out a cheerful cry, swimming to the woman and going in circles around her.

Smiling softly, she ran her fingers over his body before carefully waving him off, back to the others who were waiting for his return. Sometimes she wished she could be as carefree as the Pokemon, never having to worry about finding work or money.

Right then, Lila the Magikarp noticed a Gyarados and Feraligater in the water. She turned to the others, voicing the warning that they weren't alone. The others just ignored the warning, while Isis slowly looked in that direction, pulling some of her black strands away from her face so she could see. That wasn't a pair you would usually see in the wild, which meant they must belong to someone... Scanning the coast she finally spotted their trainer... Who looked a little to feminine for his own good. She smirked a little, shaking her head and letting her hair go, the wind wiping it around her face again.

((Yeaaaah... Isis isn't going to talk to you first. XP))

((Heh, neither will Aitrus.))

Misdreavus caught the woman in her sight. She subtly drifted over to her direction before drifting back towards her trainer. Aitrus looked to where Maddie gravitated to. He glanced at the woman, catching her smirk. He turned away, somewhat emberassed, wondering what she was smirking about.

Aitrus's behaviour caught the attention of Nathan, who conspicuously looked at Isis as well. A devious look flashed across his eyes. He gracefully glided to Aitrus, nudging him sharply in the ribs. [You should say something to her,] he projected. [Come on!] He nudged Aitrus again.

"Ow!" Aitrus yelled. "Stop being my Id" he hissed sternly. He gave in to Nathan's constant insisting, but Chompsy and Cuddles already were introducing themselves to her pokemon. He jogged over, keeping an eye on his water-types. "They're not causing you any trouble are they?" he asked Isis, genuinely apologetic.

Her water pokemon had no complaints when meeting these new pokemon, introducing themselves as well as Isis just watched. A part of her was curious if the other pokemon would have been this friendly if Runt was out... She slowly blinked, glancing out of the corner of her eye to the trainer when he spoke. A few seconds passed in complete and total silence, the woman just studying him with her gaze, as if deciding whether or not he was worth her time. Finally she looked forward again.

"No. They are no trouble as long as they don't try to eat any of my pokemon." She returned her gaze to him, the look in her eyes completely unreadable. "Of course, I hope mine are not being troublesome either."

((Short... but oh well razz ))

Aitrus felt uncomfortable talking to her. It wasn't like him to approach anyone he didn't know, and even in this situation he would often just call his pokemon and move on. Still he was egged on to take a chance by his Gardevoir, who still wouldn't shut up about it. Vivian lazily joined her trainer and, to Aitrus's pleasure, Nate fell silent.

He turned his attention out towards the group of pokemon in the water. "No, they're-" he stopped short, his eye shifting towards Madeline, who just finished an other lap around his head, "-mostly harmless," he finished. Beat. "And your pokemon seem to be no trouble to them."

"That's because Runt isn't out there." Isis just watched the water pokemon. Finally she sighed, and turned around to walk up onto the shore where he was so they didn't have to speak up as loud as they were. Though the cold of the water had been irritating her. She usually didn't stay idle in the water, so she didn't feel the cold to much. Out of the water, she still didn't look at him, turning her attention back to the pokemon.

"If Runt were out I doubt your pokemon would go near him." she sighed. Sometimes having a 40 foot Wailord was difficult, as you could only let him out of his pokeball in deep water. It was one reason why she rarely ventured from huge bodies of water.

He watched her as she approached. He shuffled slightly, very slightly and unconsciously moving away from her. He once again looked out to the ocean. He watched Vivian and Nate, both at the water's edge now. Vivian looked out towards the shadow of the Whirl Islands, while Nate was gazing at the unfamiliar pokemon.

Aitrus turned back towards Isis, giving her a puzzled look, tilting his head slightly to the left. "Runt?" he inquired.

Isis didn't noticed his moving away. She hadn't even been thinking of them being closer by getting out of the water. She just didn't want her legs going numb. "He's a Wailord. They average around 47 feet long, almost 900 pounds..." She paused. "We call him Runt because he's only 40 feet long." She didn't know why she told him that. It wasn't necessary in the least. Unless of course he wondered why a Wailord was nicknamed 'Runt'.

Finally she sighed, shaking her head and brushing her hair off her shoulder. "I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Isis Elensar. I run one of the only ferries between here and Olivine." She smiled slightly, though she wasn't used to smiling in front of other people, so it felt a little awkward for her.

Aitrus nodded. "That would explain it," he said with a slight chuckle. "And I'm Aitrus." He returned the smile with one of his own, warm smiles. "I'm-" his thoughts stumbled, "I'm a trainer." It had been so long since he had actively trained his pokemon that he still couldn't think of himself as one legitimately. Still, it was what he decided to do. He wondered how that sounded, whether he was considered too old to still be a trainer. He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind.
Ever the conversationalist, he paused for a few moments, trying to think of something to say. "It's a pleasure to meet you," he finally said, extending a hand towards her. It was a bit of a sudden and oddly-appearing gesture, but it was what his mind had settled on, and it was too late for him to try something different.

Isis raised an eyebrow when he hesitated. "You're not sure?" She smirked a little. "If you're going to tell people you're a trainer you might want to believe it yourself a little more." Isis was very good at reading people, having noticed a small hint of doubt. Now whether her words came off as cold or not, she didn't do intentionally, but she offered no apology if it had offended him.

She slowly glanced down at his hand when he offered it, trying to decide whether or not to accept the gesture. Finally though she held back a sigh, turning a little so she was facing him and firmly shook his hand. A barely visible smile touched her lips again. "Pleasure to meet you as well." She pulled her hand back to her, releasing him and looking back at the water pokemon.
"Was that you that flew over the city earlier? Why would you do that when you have a Gyrados strong enough to carry you across the ocean?"

Isis was truely a hardcore water trainer, only catching and training water pokemon, so to her, the best way to travel was on the sea. She'd never even flown, by anything, in her life.

Aitrus found her words harsh, but much needed. Reflected on her words, wondering if he really could finish his journey. Maybe he just needed to jump into it. That's why he came to the island: he was procrastinating.

His attention snapped back to her question. He was a little confused and found the question odd. "Y-yeah. I travelled all the way from Goldenrod, so I just flew over here. It was easier for me," he replied. He also wasn't much of a water person, he admitted to himself. The less chances of coming in contact with water the better.

"I see..." She stared off into the distance, lost in thought. Goldenrod wasn't that far, so why would you fly? It would be understandable if you were somewhere like Violet City, or farther, as it would take days to get here. But Goldenrod? She could easily make a trip there and back in only a few hours.

Suddenly though, she wasn't sure why, she looked at him once more, an idea in her head. "Would you like a ferry ride? Jasper and Hazel need some exercise." She motioned towards the Huntail and Gorabyss swimming in circles around each other.

"Huh?" he voiced instinctively. It took him a quick moment to process her offer. "Oh, uh," he looked towards where she had gestured, "sure," he replied after a moment of hesitation, taken aback from the apparent spontaniety of her offer.

He turned his head away from her and cringed slightly at the thought of having to get into the cold water, making sure that she didn't notice. He sucked it up though, he already accepted, mostly out of politeness, and wouldn't change his answer now.
