To the one that I serve

Last month my lesson in my training was about psychic self defense and protection magic. I was wondering what deities you would associate with protection and why.

Please include:
Deities name-pantheon-what they are protection from-and key myths
I will give my all

Heru-sa-Aset - Kemetic - Whilst not labelled as a protection deity He did slay Set and, in turn, protect populations.
I've been in His presence a few times and He seems very big-brotherly.

I'm not too familiar with other pantheons, so this will be a Finnish one, and right now I can only think of one deity that is very clearly associated to some kind of protection. She would be Kiputyttö, a daughter of lord of the Underworld, who protects from pains and suffering. According to the myths, she resides in the Hill of Pain, where all the pains of the world burn as fire. She collects the burning embers to boil them away in her small cauldron on top of that hill, so that the pains wouldn't spread.

Well first I would like to say that I feel that any deity can be a protector deity to some extent, especially when they choose you to worship them. We are their children after all. But to give a more precise answer...
Anubis aka Inpu - Egyptian/Kemetic - protector of the dead

Underworld Priestess

"THE ALL IS MIND; The Universe is Mental."--The Kybalion.

I agree that most any deities can be considered deities of protection if you worship them. I was looking more for if you read a generic description of deities who they claim is good for protection.

By the power of the mind much is possible
