Lake of Rage DESCRIPTION -The Lake of Rage, also known as Gyarados Lake, is located just north of Mahogany Town, connecting it with Route 43, making it the northern-most accessible point of the Johto region. A large lake spans the area of the Lake of Rage, with a few residents living nearby. It is said to be the largest lake in the region. West of the lake lies a labyrinth of trees, which hides a house. It is, of course, best known for the Water Pokemon that are said to live in its depths, and the red Gyarados that was a source of considerable interest some time ago before it was caught. The Lake was the subject of an experiment involving forced evolution by Team Rocket, but it has shown no ill effects as of late. LOCATION -The Lake of Rage is located in northern Johto. PEOPLE - There aren't many people here, given the relative danger of the Lake, but those who do live here are usually very welcoming to visitors and tourists, more than happy to tell them the Lake's history and help them out if they need it. RESOURCES/EVENTS/PLACES OF INTEREST - Gyarados: - One of the few places one can find wild Gyarados in all of Johto, it has also been said that lately, a number of red scales have washed up on the shore . . . MYTH/LORE - It is said the Lake of Rage was created the last time many Gyarados got together and stirred up a storm. The crater that remained filled with rainwater and became the Lake of Rage. Even now, whenever the Water Pokemon feel particularly active, the area around the Lake will be pelted with rain.

Yuriko dipped her feet gently into the rippling waters. The gym had been in-active for a while now, and she had taken the opportunity to leave it in order to relax in the shallow places of the lake. It had been a beautiful sunlit day before she had ventured there... but as always the ghostly pale mist followed her. She had narrowed it down to the ever growing attraction ghost type pokemon had to her, however it never seemed to bother her companion Haunter that glided through the fog with a wide grin on its indigo features, licking whatever random stranger or pokemon it came across him, sending chills down there bodies. To be fair Yuriko could see the advantaged of bringing the fog along with her to relax- there were a few fans of hers that would take the opportunity to nag her for a battle instead of challenging the people trained to be in her gym...
As she caressed her feet against the water, tilting her head from side to side and smiling.. something seemed to nibble at the end of one of her toes. Yuriko's face froze and before she could even scream at what horrors might have been contemplating her as a meal, her voice was caught in her throat. A small fish-like pokemon bobbed in the shallow waters, and at first sight she didn't quite recognise it for its peculiar colour, especially through the fog that bounced off the waters edge. But upon further glance she soon came to terms it was defiantly a magicarp. Not uncommon in these waters but she was expecting it to be red...
When tilting her head to laugh a little, she then came to terms that there would not only ever be ONE red garados to grace the beautiful lake. 'There are going to be a few dragon trainers after you little one..~' she chimed, resting her head in her palm a few strands of her raven hair falling over her exposed left eye. The magicarp simply splashed with a usual vacant expression until Yuriko released her feet from the water where it then proceeded to swim around the ripples left from the departure. She took a moment to watch the sweet golden margicarp bob in the small waves that must have been created by not only her feet, but also much larger and fully grown garados out further in the lake. She turned started to dab her heel with the violet towel she had packed, her Haunter taking this opportunity to lick her neck like usual. It was a quiet scene, something Yuriko always enjoyed... however this time she couldn't help the feeling that she was slightly... alone... Something she most always pushed to the back of her mind. But for some odd reason it just wasn't working this time.

Seiko~Hitomi Sometimes you have to kind of die inside... Wow, it sure was foggy up here. Seiko had heard of the severe rainstorms said to plague the area on occasion, but no one in Mahogany Town had said anything about such strange fog when she had been asking around earlier that day. The entire trek up had been relatively clear until now, making the climb rather enjoyable. Yet this strange purplish haze in the air was becoming steadily heavier and forced her to squint in order to see anything. If Kanoro hadn't been with her, using his aura abilities to see where they were going, there was a good chance she would've veered into a tree or wandered off the trail by now. Her sense of direction was bad enough as it was when she could see, let alone when she was half blind. Therefore, Kanoro was practically half dragging her behind him, his eyes shut from the fog and only seeing the bright neon blues and greens that appeared when he was seeing with his aura. 'Can you tell how much farther we have until we get there? I don't want to end up walking right into the lake," Kanoro asked, stepping around a rut in the path and forcefully leading Seiko around it. Seiko squinted hard, the Pokenav in her free hand pressed almost up to her face. The backlit screen was far too weak to pierce through the hazy barrier, only managing to light up the surrounding fog and make it less intelligible. "Um...I think it's only a little farther." She rubbed fiercely at her eyes to attempt to ease the ache from squinting for so long and blinked rapidly, peering down at the Nav again. Nope, if anything she could see even less now.
Frowning quietly, she slipped it back onto her belt and tried to focus on where she was stepping. "Wait, I thought you could see fine? Why would we walk into the lake?" she mused, tilting her head at her partner curiously. Or she assumed where he was, darn fog... 'Depending on how calm the water might be, it could look the same as the land when I look at it this way," he explained, motioning to his closed eyes, 'Although I have a feeling that won't be much of a problem, if there really are as many Gyarados in this lake as those people said there were. They aren't the most agreeable species." Seiko hummed in affirmation, looking around at the looming shadows cast by the trees. This place was much more intimidating than she had expected it to be, even with the rumors circulating of how dangerous it was to those who came unprepared. Really she was only here herself to sightsee a little, to pass the time while she was in Mahogany. If it looked like she could handle herself once there, they might even camp out by the shore for the night. Kanoro hadn't been pleased at this suggestion, merely because it would be a disaster if a Gyarados attacked them in their sleep. He hadn't refused the plan outright though, so it seemed he was still reserving his judgement for when they arrived.
Seiko couldn't see it, but she definitely noticed when they arrived at their destination. There was no mistaking the semi-roar of waves hitting the bank, as well as the worn dirt path becoming rather muddy with large patches of grass interspersed here and there. "You think Calder would want to swim?" 'I don't recommend it. A larger Gyarados could swallow him whole." Kanoro tugged her somewhere off to her right, and she followed him without question. She sure wished she could see just how big the Lake of Rage was. The shopkeeper she had spoken with back in town had said it was enormous. In order to rise from your own ashes

Yuriko Williams (Ghost Gym Leader) Haunter // Froslass // Mismagius // Banette

Yuriko startled at the sound of foot steps nearing her, continuing with slight mumbles. At first she thought it would be some ghosts that had grown bored, and being an attraction- gone to visit dear Yuriko. However as she peered through the fog with little effort she noticed what seemed to be a figure and pokemon? Yuriko clutched onto her knees. 'More Fans?' she thought, instantly turning to the conclusion that she was in for another meaningless battle. When did battling become so boring? Maybe it was because everyone who challenged her gym put little effort into their training and usually she would even be lucky to have anyone reach HER at the end. Yuriko longed for someone to kick the spirit back into her... (no pun intended)
However as she sat by the lake side relativity surrounded by the purple haze, she could only admire the beauty of the lake. Perhaps this person approaching only wanted to enjoy the virtues and that put Yuriko's mind at ease slightly. It was only when she stopped day dreaming that she realised her haunter had floated off slightly towards the sound of talking and steps, grinning wildly like he always did. "...-H-Haunter!" Yuriko cried after him pushing herself up to a stand and wobbling slightly as she nearly went toppling into the shallow end of the lake.
That would have been embarrassing, especially when people were around.
Despite Yuriko's bad aura and cold expressions, she usually got flustered at the most simple of things and really, was a child at heart. She'd gained this sort of cold shell when in her younger days where she was continuously haunted. However turning that into strength- she could only guess that was what made her the gym leader she was now.

Seiko~Hitomi Sometimes you have to kind of die inside... The lake seemed rather quiet, clashing with how Seiko had envisioned the place when she had first been told about it. Her thoughts had included an area of complete chaos and violently thrashing dragon pokemon, not a hazy, eerie, seemingly deserted shoreline. Not that she was complaining of course, she would rather have a peaceful afternoon over one where she was running for her life from a 20 foot tall water dragon. Yet still, it would have been exhilarating to see anyways. She wanted to explore closer to the water a little bit, but she knew it was unwise to get separated from Kanoro at this point. He had been leading her the entire way, so she had no idea just how close she was to the edge of the water or even how far from the entrance they were. In normal circumstances the GPS in her Pokenav would make such a thing irrelevant, but the device was useless to her if she couldn't see it. "Aw geez, this fog is getting even thicker now isn't it?" Seiko muttered in exasperation, waving her hand experimentally in front of her face to see if she could clear her vision a little. No good. 'It does seem rather unnatural...perhaps it's some sort of rare phenomenon in this area?' "Then how come no one told us about it?" Kanoro fell silent, shrugging slightly before bringing them to a halt.
'We shouldn't go too far from the path back to town. If we happen to be attacked, especially in this fog, we'll need to make our escape as easy as possible.' Seiko nodded in agreement, pulling on the shoulder strap of her backpack to lower it to the ground. She ended up dropping it, jumping in surprise when she made out a large grin through the haze only a few feet away from them. A frantic shout from some ways away followed shortly after, making Seiko jerk her head in that direction. Kanoro had grabbed her wrist again, pulling her away from the Haunter before glancing briefly towards where the voice had emitted from. His grip on her arm relaxed considerably. 'There's a human over by the edge of the water. It seems the Haunter belongs to her,' he explained to Seiko, his tone rather flat. Seiko swallowed nervously, panting slightly to try to ease her heart rate back down. She had been sure she was about to be eaten by a creature in the lake, and although she now knew there was no immediate danger, she still felt apprehensive about speaking to another person. She had never been good with social interaction. As a child it could've been said that she was too outgoing, although now years later she was the exact opposite; a social recluse. The closest she ever got to civilization was her visits home and a night or two spent in the Pokemon Center when the weather took a nasty turn for the worse.
When Kanoro realized that Seiko wasn't going to make a move to speak to the trainer - not that he was surprised - he turned his attention to the Haunter floating close by. He seemed merely curious, grinning at them as most of his kind tend to. Kanoro gave a tight smile in return, unsure if he liked these new acquaintances yet. In order to rise from your own ashes

Yuriko Williams (Ghost Gym Leader) Haunter // Froslass // Mismagius // Banette

With a hesitant frown, Yuriko sheepishly stepped into the (what seemed to be slightly clear) purple mist. When she ever felt vulnerable her different emotions would show, usually she would never cry or truly smile in front of strangers or fans... But whenever she felt scared, she acted like the child she used to be.
Yuriko stepped further, waving her arms to try and feel her ghoulish companion. She watched herself near the waters edge, carefully avoiding any indents into the rock, grass or mud that made the shoreline, just to make sure she wouldn't trip and make a fool of herself by getting soaked in the shallow part of the water.. especially when people were present.
She moved closer to the figure and pokemon that surrounded what seemed to be (quite clearly) a female. Yuriko scratched her head and faintly called for her Haunter to return to her side. Despite the fact Yuriko loathed ghosts that haunted her in the dark- without her Haunter she never felt safe and often hated it when he strayed off out of curiosity.
"Haunter!" She called, a little more confidence in her voice- though when an unresponsive silence continued after, she couldn't help but pout in a childish manner. She took a few more steps towards a blue light emitting from the girls now visible Lucario, who stared at the Haunter that continued to grin in it slightly eerie but friendly manner. Yuriko took a sigh and stepped into view.
"I-I'm Sorry," She explained, twiddling her thumbs in front of the girl that stood before her with a slightly freaked out expression. No doubt the handy work of Yuriko's Haunter.
At the sight of his trainer, Haunter flew around her licking the back of Yuriko's neck like usual, making the back of her hair stand up, continuing to circle her and rub against her pale skin grinning even more than before. Yuriko made a frown at her Haunter before turning back to the girl.
"H-He tends to get a little curious..." she blushed in an embarrassed manner, not upholding her gym leader posture. She was contemplating sinking away through the fog back to the gym... but it dawned on her that she was being awfully rude. "U-um... Nice to meet you." She stuttered starting to smile slightly, Haunter still continuing his way of 'affection' towards Yuriko.

Seiko~Hitomi Sometimes you have to kind of die inside... Seiko heard the same voice from before call out several more times for the Haunter, which still seemed focused on Kanoro. Normally ghost pokemon didn't bother Seiko all that much, or at least not enough to make her loose her composure like she had. That had been her usual response to being spoken to by a stranger when she didn't expect it. Of course her past experiences with ghost types couldn't have been called enjoyable, as her own single ghost pokemon had attacked her viciously before Devaki seemed to take a liking to her after she was caught. And lucky for Seiko, as the Banette still fell back to brutal physical beatings whenever she got ticked. Usually only to Kendi though, who seemed happily oblivious to the treatment. She could hear slow light footsteps coming towards them, as if the other trainer was unsure of her footing. 'Probably because of the fog,' Seiko mused, squinting slightly to attempt to see the approaching figure. It didn't take much longer for the girl to finally come into the view though, and Seiko unconsciously slumped her shoulders and crossed her arms in a defensive gesture. A way to make herself seem smaller. People always said she came off as unfriendly when she did this, but the problem was she never realized she was doing it until the other person walked away. The moment the other girl apologized, seeming as uncomfortable as Seiko was, she felt herself loosen up a bit. "N-no! No it's fine, really, I just wasn't expecting it. I didn't see anyone else because of the fog and thought we were alone, so-" 'Cool it, you're rambling again,' Seiko cut off mid sentence, crossing her arms again from where she had been gesturing wildly in the air while trying to reassure the other trainer, shooting an embarrassed glance at Kanoro.
The Lucario had finally opened his eyes, the ethereal blue glow fading away as he looked at the two newcomers for himself. Judging by the girl's aura, despite being rather dark and a little unstable, she didn't pose an immediate threat to himself and Seiko. The Haunter was merely curious, as the trainer had explained. 'You can let up a little, they don't intend to harm us.' He couldn't help but sound slightly irritated as he spoke, making Seiko nod apologetically. "Right then, um...it's nice to meet you, too?" she replied hesitantly, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. She didn't mean to sound rude, but she wasn't even sure if that was the proper way for her to respond. Should she say something else now? Tell this stranger her name? Wait until she knew her name first? Or maybe she should just leave? Maybe she was in the way, or bothering the girl and her Haunter by being here. She didn't want to cause trouble... Kanoro on the other hand was openly watching the interaction between the Haunter and his trainer. It seemed the ghost was more the affectionate type, not exactly common amongst ghost types.

Yuriko Williams (Ghost Gym Leader) Haunter // Froslass // Mismagius // Banette

With the warmer sight of what first seemed to be a trainer who wasn't the most friendly of types, seemed to calm Yuriko and let her ease herself.
She gently shooed her Haunter away who then proceeded to scare some innocent hophips that had drifted with the slight breeze before the fog had followed Yuriko. She entwined her fingers staring at the trainer with the one visible eye that was free from her hair. Her eyes were bright violet which even through the fog seemed to shine. She lost herself in a moment of thought before feebly trying to regain her gym leader composure, now that this trainer looked strong with a proud Lucario at her side- she wasn't about to loose her dignity.
"W-Well you must be a trainer hmm?" She cursed herself under her breath for stuttering at the start, but then looked up again taking a bold stance with a hand placed on a her hip and a wider smile on her face. "Forgive the weather, it just seems to follow me around. I guess it might be sticking around the area for a while now, and not to mention the town... the locals are terribly happy..." She continued with a quiet and fragile voice, lightly running her fingers through her hair and flinching at the sight of Haunter chasing around the adorable pink and green pokemon.
She muttered a few things at it before it stopped at took its place beside its trainer making her seem much bolder and elegantly powerful. She tilted her head and continued. "So, a trainer like you must be here for a reason right? Did you come to see the lake... oh.. Like I said, I'm terribly sorry about the weather..." She started to mumble, looking around at the ghoulish mist before turning her eyes to the floor.
Haunter began to chew on her hair as she tilted her head down, which of course didn't please Yuriko in the slightest- especially now she was trying to be all powerful and mighty.

Seiko~Hitomi Sometimes you have to kind of die inside... Seiko didn't exactly feel relieved when the Haunter moved away, only maybe a little more at ease. It was always easier to get her thoughts in order when there were less variables to take into account. Kanoro had also drilled it into her head since the day she had first left home that things were always better if you outnumbered the opponent. He had always had an extremely cautious mindset when it came to her and her safety, and even though she didn't agree with having unfair advantages over others, she allowed most of his rather over-the-top rules to come into play at times. Seiko gave a weak smile in response to the trainer's own wider one. It seemed something had happened to make the seemingly older girl more at ease in the situation. "Yeah...I'm sort of a trainer I guess. I mean I have pokemon and we battle sometimes and all, but we really just travel around to...well wherever really." She felt slightly unnerved by how the girl's vibrant violet eyes seemed to shine through the haze, putting her own rather pale grayish-green eyes to shame. These same eyes widened considerably when the other motioned to the fog, explaining that it was her own presence that had brought it here. "You mean...no matter where you go, it's always foggy?" "It seems to stem from her aura, almost like excess energy.' Seiko didn't turn to face him, but he could still feel her disbelief through their telepathic link. 'It's unstable as it is, but it also seems to pull in a ways...it attracts energy. Can't tell too much more." Seiko's mind was spinning slightly form the overload of information, but she kept her expression neutral. As in, she still probably seemed rather unsettled but not nearly as much as she was inside. Kanoro's eyes were narrowed slightly as he studied the girl, as if trying to figure her out.
She was able to hear and understand the girl's next question, despite her rapid thoughts. Oh, yes, we came up here because we heard about it from some people in town. I overheard them say it was really impressive...although there are a bunch of Gyarados up here, too. There aren't many of those back where I'm from," she muttered quickly in response, steepling her fingers in front of her and watching them intently. Kanoro was the only one to notice the returning Haunter, one eyebrow raised in amusement at the pokemon's actions and the trainer's reaction. In order to rise from your own ashes

Yuriko Williams (Ghost Gym Leader) Haunter // Froslass // Mismagius // Banette

Upon the trainers question before she had continued- Yuriko nodded. "It seems to have followed me since I was a child" She explained "But I guess when I turned certain reasons around and made disadvantages my strengths, well- that is what makes me the gym leader I am today." She said ending the setence with a smile. She turned to The lake, ignoring the stare down Haunter was encouraging in order to annoy the opposite trainers Lucario. "Pay him no heed," she mumbled before continuing.
"The Garados in the lake always seems to thrash, as if they're unhappy for some reason. I usually come down here to calm some of them... They do so like these apricorns..." Her mind began to wander, and before she knew it she was rambling on about how pokemon's diets can affect their beauty.
She paused however, turning back away from the lake in order to make eye contact with her shiny violet iris. "Yes we tend to have some rare occasions-" She pointed to a part of shallow water where the magicarp was spotted not so long ago. "Sometimes, we get different coloured magicarp... and if you're VERY lucky, even the legendary red garados people rant about on those ...." She had to think for a second. "Television?" the way Yuriko pronounced the last word made it seem like a question, however she didn't delay on it- she simply turned away from the shore side flicking her heels.
"I guess one thing is a benefit, when the fog is here... the rain stops." She sighed with a dreamy smile. "I don't like the rain" She mumbled, snapping her fingers at haunter to stop him from annoying the Lucario.

And that's about the time she walked away from me. No one likes you when you're twenty-three. Just because I don't wanna miss my TV shows What the hell is ADD? Soon after his friends dropped him off in Mahogany Town Blake opted to head for Lake of Rage, see the sights a little. To his surprise the area was covered in a thick purple fog. Hmm, maybe Yuriko is up here. Blake thought as he relied on Spiritomb to guide him, since the fog was not natural he figured the Ghost/Dark Tyoe would be able to guide him. Soon he was at the lake edge and he could hear voices close by. "Hey, who else is here?" Blake called. My friends tell me I should act my age. What's my age again? What's my age again?

Yuriko Williams (Ghost Gym Leader) Haunter // Froslass // Mismagius // Banette

Yuriko had been wandering in her thoughts for a while before being completely focused on Seiko, but before she had a chance to introduce her self properly- something caught her eye, literally grabbing her from the position she was standing in- and before she threw it, she threw herself forward into a kneeling gaze.
She took a moment to catch her breath. "Oh my! What a beautiful spiritomb! Oh~ isn't he beautiful! Oh my oh my~" She repeated lathering affection on the glowing ghost pokemon. It was obvious that Yuriko's Haunter wasn't pleased and proceeded to hover about with a various number of facing being pulled behind her back. Yuriko seemed much to dazzled to notice, looking around the spiritomb and gazing in complete amazement.
Yuriko took a moment to grab a treat for the pokemon from her back pocket before looking up to greet the trainer with an excited smile. She then realised she wasn't doing anything for her gym leader dignity- and after forcing back a embarrassed and uncomfortable blush, she eventually regained her composure, turning to a side to view both of the trainers present.

Seiko~Hitomi Sometimes you have to kind of die inside... Seiko was a little startled to hear the other reveal her title of Gym Leader in such a casual way, not to mention how suddenly it came up. She could definitely see how having such think fog surrounding her at all times could make a battle turn in her favor if Seiko could assume that any of her other pokemon were similar to Haunter. There was nothing she could say in return that wouldn't make her sound completely foolish, so she kept quiet and merely filed the information away for later. It was easier to speak to her without thinking of her as a Gym Leader. Meanwhile the Haunter had caught Kanoro's eye from when he had watched him earlier and was trying to stare him down, probably in an attempt to get a rise out of him. The Lucario returned the look with a cool, demeaning gaze that never wavered even in the slightest. He knew it was childish, but he wasn't backing down until the pokemon knew that, even though its trainer was a Gym Leader, they themselves were not to be underestimated. It would take more than fog to throw them off. He felt a small mental poke at the back of his mind, no doubt Seiko telling him to behave himself. He paid her no heed, only twitching his ears slightly to brush it off.
Seiko was keeping up with the other trainer's conversation surprisingly well, not really understanding too much about apricorns and such once she began getting down to the gritty details. She only stood where she was and nodded whenever she could to show she was listening, even if she wasn't understanding. Seiko couldn't say she liked rain much either, but Mossdeep had always had rather wet weather. She was used to it, if not usually prepared for it when it hit out on the trail. Calder was the only one rather fond of water in general, so much so that she was surprised he hadn't burst out of his pokeball and dove headfirst into the lake. Rain was like a holiday to him when it hit.
It took her a moment, but Seiko finally realized that the Leader had stopped speaking a while ago and she quickly darted around in her memory for what she had last said, in case she had been asked a question or such, but was interrupted by a shout from outside the group rather close by. The Gym Leader was immediately upon the pokemon that had arrived with the new trainer, making Seiko blink in confusion at the loud display and Kanoro shake his head in exasperation. Things were becoming rather loud and crowded rather fast, weren't they? Perhaps they should head back to town... In order to rise from your own ashes

"Well I'm glad you like him, you must be Yuriko, the Mahogany Gym Leader, I kind of wondered why the was this mist around the Lake, anyways I'm Blake Blaze, the Azalea Gym Leader, nice to meet ya, and you too." Blake said with a friendly smile as he acknowledged the other trainer in the group. Blake's Spiritomb expressed it's delight at the snack and gave the Ghost Type, no-hands equivalent of a wave to the Haunter. My friends tell me I should act my age. What's my age again?
