Kanto & Johto

- Pokémon, it's you and me
I know it's my destiny
Pokémon...ooh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
Pokémon, a heart so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me, and I'll teach you
Pokémon
Gotta catch 'em all! -

The time has finally come for you to take your Pokemon journey. Starting from the age of ten, all the way up to eighteen, the sons and daughters of Johto will soon begin the journey to establish themselves as Pokemon Trainers. Most will begin their journey at Professor Elm's lab, situated in New Bark Town, though some will already have a few Pokemon of their own, but either way, it is every trainer's goal to fight their way through the eight Gyms of Johto, then conquer the League atop the Indigo Plateau!

But even that is not the end - once the Johto League has been completed, trainers will be free to journey to the nearby Kanto Region and complete the eight Gyms there, with a Battle Frontier providing additional challenges for those who want them. There'll always be something for trainers to strive for . . .

However, there have been hints that Team Rocket, once thought to have been decimated after their defeats years ago in both the Kanto and Johto Regions, has been re-started, though very few details are known. Although Officer's Jenny and Looker are on the lookout for the villains, we all know it'll be up to anyone and everyone to foil the Team!

Unless, of course, you happen to be on the Team . . .

So, there you have it. The whole wide Pokemon world spread out in front of you. But where do you fit in all of this?

Well, that's easy. You can be anything you want! You could be Professor Elm, one of the intrepid trainers helping him conduct his research, or one of those lucky few entrusted with a Pokedex.
You could be one of the sixteen Gym Leaders, a member of the Elite Four, perhaps even a Frontier Brain, vying to keep your place amongst the Elite Trainers.
You could be the Leader of Team Rocket, one of its Admins, maybe one of its Grunts - or maybe you could be an officer of the law, acting to prevent Team Rocket from putting one of its nefarious schemes into play.
You could be an ordinary trainer who turns out to be not so ordinary after all, proving themselves to be Champions in the making. You could even be a breeder or coordinator.
You can be anything you want.
Cool, eh?

Rules

User Image

The dreaded rules. But I pride myself on being easy to work with, so maybe you won't find these rules as annoying or constrictive as you might think.

1. We work on a three-strike system - break any of these rules, that's one strike. On the third strike, we ask you politely to leave the Guild. However, since we doubt any of you out there will get even one strike, this rule is pretty much just window dressing.

2. No cybering, godmodding or powerplaying - this stuff should be pretty straightforward. No 'aim for the horn, Pikachu!' here. All legendaries will be handed out as and when Henry sees fit, and given they form some of the plot, that isn't likely to happen often - mainly because it'll upset power balance. Let's try and keep each other happy, hm? Especially Henry, 2three4 and Aly. wink

3. Romance is encouraged, though if and when it does happen, let's keep it to PG-13 and below. Feel free to do the love thing but anything else, you leave it unsaid and do a time-skip. And this rule most definitely extends to Pokemon. We don't want to know where those eggs come from, thank you.

4. No chat-speak - it makes us shiver. Then demand you rewrite that post. Also, keep it together when it comes to grammar and spelling - Henry is a bit of a grammar freak, so watch out. We know not everyone is on the same level when it comes to roleplaying, but please, make an effort.

5. Swearing is usually a no-no - this is Pokemon, after all - but if the situation truly merits it (and I mean truly), and it's in character, go ahead.

6. Try to limit the number of one-liners you post - we'll understand if you haven't got much to work with, but if you're just lazy . . . About two or three sentences is enough to be getting on with. Also, this is a semi-lit rp, so I ask that we keep actions in words, and OOC in parentheses or brackets (or the OOC thread). Thoughts can be italics or single quotations, whichever is easiest.

7. PM profiles to Henry with the title 'I wanna be the very best', and make sure you include the sentence "I don't care if Farfetch'd has crap stats, I'm still using him!" so he knows you read the rules. Henry will check them over, and he'll tell you whether or not it's acceptable. If accepted, you post it in the relevant profile thread - it's your responsibility to maintain and change it as is necessary.

8. Henry can add or change rules whenever he wants, so check back every week or so. When it comes to wild Pokemon, anyone can control them, but if we get two opposing posts, the first post takes priority and the second has to be edited to fit. Very important when it comes to fight scenes, especially if you want to show off your Pokemon skills.

9. PLEASE, if you're going to be away for longer than 5 days, then tell Henry! If you don't post for 7 days, I'm going to send you a PM reminding you that we're still here - the RP must survive at all costs! If you don't PM me back or post for another 3 days after I PM you, you're out. Unless, of course, you have a valid reason when you get back. I.e. you've had a death in the family or a power outage. "I didn't feel like it" isn't a good enough reason. Your character will, after this point, either leave the group, go home or be 'training'.

10. No more than five characters each - we need as many people as we can get, but it's no good if we have twenty characters played by three people. You can have Pokemon and humans in any combination you like - which includes no Pokemon, and all humans, or vice versa.

11. A quick run-down of battling -
Henry, Aly and I'll act as the referee in all battles, to make sure they're fair.
We won't bother with experience - all methods of evolution, ranging from experience to happiness to evolution stone, can take place thirty days after the Pokemon is created/caught. Once those thirty days are up, go on as you like.
When it comes to moves, you can have four moves (e.g. Fly, Flamethrower, Dragon Claw, Hyper Beam), which can be replaced at any time.
For moves with 85% accuracy or below, e.g. Fire Blast or Hypnosis, you have to roll a dice/use an RNG to determine if you hit or not. Moves with 86% and upwards, it's assumed the move has hit. However, both you and your opponent can use evasion tactics, so long as they're justified and not plain ridiculous, to evade attacks.
Also, battles can be either 1-on-1, 2-on-2, or even 3-on-3, meaning combo tactics (e.g. using Hydro Cannon, then freezing it with Ice Beam so it slams into an opponent.) are allowed, so long as they're within reason.
TMs, as in Black and White, are reusable, and HM moves such as Fly, Surf, Whirlpool, etc, are no longer required to get around - a Dragonite that can't fly isn't a very effective Dragonite. Basically, more room for moves like Earthquake. 3nodding
Remember, no powerplaying - you're going to get hit sometime, and if I see anyone dodging constantly, I'll ask you to stop.

12. If you have any questions, PM Henry - don't be afraid to ask him anything (although it'd be nice if it was related to the RP).

13. Shops stock potions, TMs, food and drink, and probably anything else you might want.

14. You can catch Pokemon played by other people if you both agree. However, the usual rules still apply.

15. Henry has decided to allow a VERY limited PC system. You can store up to eighteen Pokemon in the PC, and you can swap them out either at a PC at a PokeCenter, or using your Pokedex (which has recently been fitted with a miniature capsule system, meaning it can bring Pokemon straight to you from the PC). Note this does not extend to player controlled Pokemon. It's very hard to RP, after all, if you're in the PC.

16. The Pokemon you start with and catch don't have to be from the Johto region. For example, if you're a Johto trainer, it's perfectly all right to have a Starly or a Caterpie or whatever, so long as you stick to the previous rules. Also note that Ninetales don't walk around outside of Goldenrod City - remember, certain species of Pokemon are rarer than others. If you have a Unova character, you are allowed only two Gen I-IV Pokemon, so choose wisely - the rest of your team will come from Gen V.

17. For those Pokemon that evolve at a certain level, e.g. Squirtle, which evolves into Wartortle at level 18, thirty days of active RP time are required before the Pokemon can evolve. Once those thirty days of RP time are over, the trainer can either evolve the Pokemon then and there, or wait for a more opportune moment. Note this extends to second evolutions as well - if you wanted to evolve that Wartortle, you'd have to wait another thirty days.

18. Certain held items are banned, mainly because they can lead to moves having double their power before the match starts, or other such imbalances;
- Black and White Type Gems

19. Trading works exactly as it does in the games - Pokemon who evolve by trading with/without an item still do so, a trade can be undertaken by any two people, so on and so forth. Pokemon such as Magnezone or Probopass, who evolved at Mt. Coronet, can evolve at the Kanto Power Plant or Goldenrod Radio Tower. For Pokemon such as Glaceon, there are Icy Rocks in the Seafoam Islands and the Ice Path - for Pokemon such as Leafeon, there are Mossy Rocks in Viridian Forest and Ilex Forest.

20. Have fun!

Now, was that so bad?

Amendment 1 - "Original Pokemon" / "Fakemon"
After a vote of staff members the creation and use of "Original Pokemon" aka "Fakemon" within the guild is allowed, but only under incredibly strict and regulated circumstances for obvious reasons. A more detailed explanation of these is posted in the "Fakemon" Thread for your reading pleasure.

Any links I think will make our lives easier. Feel free to suggest some I may not have included.

Bulbapedia - quite possibly the only Pokemon resource you'll ever need.

Pokemon Trainer Dress-Up - helpful when it comes to constructing your Trainer's appearance. Note; it has a weird system of saving the image, so you'll probably only be able to use it if your computer can take screenshots.

Serebii Net - yet another good Pokemon resource. If you're no fan of Bulbapedia, or it isn't detailed enough for you, try here!

Battle Record

User Image

This is where I'll keep track of who's won what against who - helpful for those of you who like keeping track of success.

Goldenrod City - a battle was fought between Darien Magnus and two Rocket grunts, with Lillian Koumou joining in later on in the battle. Despite a valiant struggle, Darien was defeated by the three, although he suffered no real injury save to his ego, as Lillian deemed his Pokemon unworthy of being stolen.

Goldenrod City - after an attempt to steal some contest Pokemon went sour, Herz Itrania, leader of Team Rocket, fled the scene, leaving his grunts to be arrested. Pursued by gym leaders Ryugi and Jackson, as well as Frontier Brain (and sister) Lucia and newbie trainer Gabe, he was nearly caught as he attempted to escape - the intervention of Team Rocket members Dervish Crown, Amy Tyler and Lillian Koumou meant that Herz escaped, without gain by either side.

Mt. Silver - atop the rugged summit of Mt Silver, Ryugi Kazamaru challenged Pokemon Trainer Red to a one-on-one battle to test his skill whilst searching for the legendary dragon Pokemon, Rayquaza. Ryugi fielded his best Pokemon, Eclipse, the black Charizard, whilst Red sent out his Lapras. Despite a valiant attempt by Eclipse to overwhelm its opponent with SolarBeam and Overheat, Lapras used its psychic powers and powerful water attacks to defeat the Flame Pokemon. However, Ryugi earned the other trainer's respect, and was given a very special Silph Scope to commemorate the occasion. He in turn gave Red his Adamant Badge, and the two parted ways amicably.

Cherrygrove City - Seth Walker was challenged by the sister of Anna, named Kiki, to a one-on-one battle. Seth chose his trusty Munchlax, Domo, while Kiki used Anna's Growlithe - thanks to several false starts by Kiki, and Domo's Metronome, Seth won the battle, and Domo even learned a new move - Body Slam.

Mahogany Town - Yuriko Williams and Blake Blaze, the Mahogany and Azalea Town Gym Leaders respectively, decided to test their skills against each other in a tense battle. Yuriko did her city proud, but was unable to claim a victory over Blake's combination of Dark- and Ice-type pokemon.

Cerulean City - Francis and Gwen Jennings, after visiting Professor Oak in Pallet Town, inspect rumors of Team Rocket acitivity near the Cerulean Cape - rumors proved to be founded, as drill operations are discovered by the dynamic duo. After the operation was interrupted, the two were interrupted by master thief Scarlet, who challenged them but did very little. Things became complicated when Roddy Mourey, a Team Rocket admin became involved, as well as grunts Dervish Crown and Amy Tyler, culminating in the destruction of the Cerulean bridge and the immediate departure of a mysterious entity from what seemed to be Cerulean Cave . . .

Pallet Town - A visit to Professor Oak's lab to retrieve her Venusaur turned into a battle for Sapphire when Ash Ketchum arrived, fresh from his Sinnoh exploits, and the two faced each other in a tense clash. The first win in the three-Pokemon battle went to Ash, when his Charizard managed to defeat Sapphire's Manectric, while the second battle was a draw, with Ash's Sceptile and Sapphire's Blaziken both fainting after a fraught battle. Finally, Ash sent out his trusty Pikachu, while Sapphire deployed her Venusaur. Despite a strong showing from her Venusaur, Sapphire ultimately lost to Ash's Pikachu. The two parted ways amicably.

Violet City - In front of the Violet City Gym, traveling companions Seth Walker and Alessandra Monotoli had a 'friendly' practice battle, both using Pokemon recently given to them by Seth's sister, a Slakoth and a Poliwag respectively. Despite a valiant attempt by Scamp, a Toxic attack and numerous Sucker Punches won the match for the newbie trainer.

Team Rocket HQ - Interpol officer Nate Wolfwood attempted to conduct an undercover mission in Team Rocket's headquarters by Mt. Silver, an attempt aimed at finding out why Team Rocket was researching the legends of the Johto and Hoenn regions - an attempt that ultimately failed after Dervish and Amy, the now infamous Rocket grunt pair, discovered him, and while a short battle ensued, Nate eventually escaped on his Flygon, Delano, despite the pair's attempts to pursue on Amy's Steelix, Kirsty. However, this is by and large a success on Team Rocket's part - Nate was unable to discover exactly what Team Rocket had planned . . .

Violet City - After a practice battle with Alessandra, Seth was 'in the zone' for his first Gym battle, challenging the Gym's Understudy Akio Hideaki, the Gym Leader absent, with Akio's sister, Joe, Maria Suseki, and Devyn Monroe - a traveling companion of Seth's and an Elite Four member all spectating. Seth surprised Akio with his Zigzagoon, Loony, the TinyRaccoon showing off his impressive speed and power, though Akio's Vulpix kept her side proud. In the end, Seth won, earning him his first badge.

Goldenrod City - After returning to his Gym, Jackson Vakarian was challenged by Demetri Collins, a 'veteran' trainer out to complete the Johto Gym Challenge. Prepared for the battle by Elite Four Electric-typer Ceica Vinctoire, Demetri began with his Dragonair Lulu, whilst Jackson brought out his trusty Floatzel, Herald. While Demetri pulled out a strong showing, his team just didn't have what it took to defeat the formidable Gym Leader.

Olivine City - Factory Head Liam Hikari was drawn into a battle by challenger Roz Cherrywood. At last count, Liam deployed his Roserade, whislt Roz chose to go with Gengar. In a move that was deemed 'overkill' from his Steelix, Roz won the match - and a card for 50 BP at the Battle Frontier.

Violet City - While waiting for a new Gym Leader to take over, notable trainer Gold filled in as Leader when new Trainer Lillian Astrange wanted to challenge the Violet Gym. Lillian proved that she wasn't a pushover, earning the Gym's badge against Gold.

Azalea Town - The next stop for rookie Trainer Seth Walker was the Azalea Town Gym, where he was met by Leader Blake Blaze(after his travels to Mahogany). At last count, Seth's trusty Munchlax Domo was holding his own against Blake's Lapras. Seth's Domo landed the decisive blow, earning him his second Gym Badge.

Goldenrod City - Seeming to deal with a never-ending string of challengers, Gym Leader Jackson Vakarian was challenged by Trainer David Miles. While Jackson held his own, David ultimately emerged the victor.

Goldenrod City - Fresh from battling Vakarian, veteran Trainer Demetri Collins prepared for his Ecruteak battle by challenging Arcade Star Ally Mirrera's Dark-type pokemon. He proved - with his Lucario and Metang - that he was ready for the Dark-types of Ecruteak. As a gesture of goodwill, Mirrera offered to teach Demetri's Metang Meteor Mash.

Goldenrod City - While waiting for Seth to catch up to him, Elite Four member Devyn Monroe decided to challenge Gym Leader Jackson Vakarian in a battle that was just for fun. The two men fought with everything they had, but Jackson emerged victorious, his Lapras(Dame) beating out Devyn's Feraligatr(Zidler). As a mutual sign of respect, Jackson gave Devyn a Squirtle Egg from his prized Blastoise.

Cianwood City - rookie Trainer Amethyst faced down a ferocious wild Primeape, gaining a new friend in the process - a Happiny that hatched from an Egg the Primeape was after.

Mt. Silver Rocket Base - Master thief LeMarc and his unwilling accomplice, Tower Tycoon Khan, arrived at the crime syndicates mountain base with one intent - to reestablish LeMarc's monopoly on crime. Unfortunately for them, Giovanni had been expecting such an eventuality, Khan finding himself on the receiving end of a Dizzy Punch and LeMarc finding even his ingenious plans to bury the base underneath an avalanche stumped by Giovanni's preparations - a fierce and fast battle ended with a contained avalanche, a dead LeMarc, and a rather annoyed Giovanni, as well as leading to the abandonment of the Rocket Base.

Mahogany Town - Fleeing the destruction of Goldenrod, a number of trainers including Roz, Devyn, a comatose Jackson, Ally, Mark and Liam took refuge in the quiet town of Mahogany, though it didn't stay that way for long - as part of their Goldenrod plan, squads of Team Rocket grunts were sent to secure the Town, and despite some impressive explosions courtesy of Roz, the intrepid troupe of trainers eventually had to cut and run east to Blackthorn.

Blackthorn City - Tower Tycoon Khan faced down Mahogany Gym Leader Reno Morado, Reno fighting for Lillian, Khan's spurned protege, and Khan fighting . . . mainly for the sake of fighting. However, this was hardly the fairest of fights, given Reno's Raichu was up against a Bidoof . . . if by 'Bidoof', one means Mew. One Encore and curb-stomp later, Reno stepped up to pay the bet they'd set - only for Khan to refuse, knowing it'd annoy the Gym Leader more.

Blackthorn City - Again Reno Morado challenged someone to a battle, though his intentions this time around were more in the line of fun - though he was unlikely to get any, given he was facing Emily Miliardo, Pokemon League Champion, and Ground-type specialist. His Electivire put up a valiant fight against Emily's Mamoswine, but ultimately, type advantages prevailed, and Reno threw in the towel, though there were no hard feelings afterward - Emily was even impressed by the Electric-typer's efforts . . .

Blackthorn City - A trainer, by the name of Ace Fletcher, passing through Blackthorn during the preparations for the taking-back of Goldenrod was challenged to a double battle by consummate combination trainer Roz Cherrywood, leading to a frantic and imaginitive battle involving a Metalquake, redirected energy attacks and more, but it was cut short, Roz being called away to assist in preparations, meaning Ace won by default.

Goldenrod City - It was a fine, crisp morning the day that a truly legendary force charged to Goldenrod to defeat the two legendaries under Team Rocket's control, Groudon and Kyogre. A truly powerful exchange of blows, one near-drowning, and an appearance by - of all people/pokemon - Arceus later, the victors this day were the number of Elites, Gym Leaders, Brains, and a few notable young Trainers who set out to defeat the Rockets' villainous actions.

Ecruteak City - After an impromptu battle with Leader Jackson Vakarian in the Battle Castle, Trainer Seth Walker set out to earn his fourth Gym Badge. In lieu of a proper Gym Leader, Hoenn coordinator Sapphire stepped in to battle the young Walker. At last count, Seth's Munchlax(Domo) was managing to hold his own against his evolutionary form - Sapphire's Snorlax, Fluff. Despite being Fluff's pre-evolved form, Domo managed to best the Snorlax, earning Seth the Fog Badge.

Ecruteak City - Sapphire wasn't the only notable face in Ecruteak. Arcade Star Ally Mirrera had finished investigating some rumors at the Burned Tower, when she was approached by Elite Four member Brandon Copeland, fresh from a trip to the Safari Zone. The two agreed to a 3-on-3 battle, the first win going to the Elite, who managed to defeat the Brain's Salamence. Despite a remarkable showing from his Lickitung, victory ultimately went to the Arcade Star, who - in a friendly gesture - gave Brandon a card worth 75 BP.

National Park - Accomplished young Trainer - and a possible Idol in the making - Annie Arrosa was challenged to a Double Battle by passer-by Levi. At last count, her Gardevoir and Medicham were facing his Luxray and Flygon in a tense clash. Despite an impressive effort from both sides, the match ultimately ended in a tie.

Olivine City - Second-eldest of the Cherrywood siblings - and Johto's 'resident' nutter - Roz hopped/skipped/jumped into Olivine City, intent on winning his sixth Gym Badge...of course to do so, he had to challenge Leader Yuriko Williams, Ghost-type phenom. At last count, her Haunter was up against his Swalot. One harsh flash of light and an 'intoxicating(mostly from Roz's pokemon)' later, the winner was the platinum-blonde nutjob, which earned him his sixth badge.

Goldenrod City - After a joint trip to the Safari Zone - where they each caught a new pokemon -, Gym Leader Jackson Vakarian and Arcade Star Ally Mirrera began a battle to test their skills against each other. At last count, her Tyranitar was sent out against his Golduck...but their battle never had a conclusion, as a bright-white light interrupted the proceedings.

Mahogany Town - Elite Four member Sennett Kourend had arrived in the 'quiet' northern town, intent on finding RageCandyBars. Sadly, she didn't find them...but what she did find was a battle with Castle Duke Calvin McCloud. She started by sending out her Lopunny, Genesis, against his Blaziken, Knight...After a fraught battle, victory went to Normal-typed Elite Four member, who never got her RageCandyBars.

Cianwood City - Fresh off of adding a new addition to his team, Trainer Seth Walker challenged Cianwood Leader Mark Lassiter for his fifth Gym badge. Currently, Seth's Growlithe - Excalibur - is up against Mark's Exeggutor - Rotuggexe. The young Walker was out-matched, and victory ultimately went to Mark. But Seth'll be back~.

Mt. Silver - While training his team in the snowy mountain terrain, Elite Four member Devyn Monroe challenged the legendary Trainer Red to a 2-on-2 match. The blonde porcupine Elite began with his trusted Feraligatr - Zidler - against Red's Pikachu...type advantages prevailed, giving Red the first win. As for the second match - Devyn's Empoleon, Myde, versus Red's Charizard - type advantage didn't matter so much as sheer move-power did, victory ultimately going to the legendary Trainer. As a sign of mutual respect, Devyn gave Red the orig. PokeBall he obtained Zidler in; in exchange, Red gave Devyn a brilliant blue sapphire with an 'odd(to say the least)' energy coming from it. The two men parted with a good respect for the other.

Mahogany Town - A seventh Gym badge on his mind, everyone's favorite blonde insomniac - Trainer Roz Cherrywood - all but barrel-rolled into the Mahogany Gym, issuing a challenge to Leader Reno Morado, master of the Electric-type. The match seemed to start with ladies first, as Roz's female Roserade - Raileaf - was pitted against Reno's female Luxray - Kamitsure...What started as a ladies-first match turned into a battle of the Electric-types, Roz's Radiator(Ampharos) finally winning out against Reno's Vincent(Raichu). Having a grand-old-time against the platinum-blonde nut-job, Reno awarded Roz the Spark Badge.

Cianwood City - Told you he'd be back~. After two weeks of rigorous training, Seth Walker returned to the Cianwood Gym, a re-match with Psychic-type phenom(and Cianwood Leader) Mark Lassiter on his mind. The match started off 'safely' enough, with Mark's Mr. Mime against Seth's Lucario...The training ultimately proved to be useful for Seth: two in-battle evolutions and a close match later, Mark awarded him the Psyche Badge.

Olivine City - A fresh face to Johto arrived in the sea-side city of Olivine, a pink-eyed young woman named Mona. Not long after her arrival, she was challenged to a battle by everyone's favorite explosive nut, Roz Cherrywood. At present, her Dratini - Dracolosse - was up against his Steelix - Rocky...ultimately, victory went to the platinum-blonde nut-job. As a sign of respect(for a good battle), Roz gave Mona the 50BP card he won from Factory Head Liam.

National Park - Looking for a formidable opponent to battle against, Prof. Nick Cypress challenged Violet City Gym Leader Merci Lovelace to a 'friendly' match. Presently, his Absol(Carnage) is pitted against her Jumpluff(Dandi)...presumably, the match had no conclusion, and both Trainers decided to travel together for a while.

Mahogany Town - Aiming to get his 7th badge - and accompanied by League Champion Emily Milliardo -, Seth Walker challenged the Electric-type specialist of Mahogany Gym, Reno Morado...by punching him in the face. As much as a second punch would've been justified, Seth instead fielded his shiny Growlithe, Excalibur, against Surge, Reno's Electivire...unfortunately for Reno, Seth knew his type advantages well, Wally(Grotle) emerging victorious against Vincent(Raichu). One victory-jig later, Seth was given the Spark Badge.

Mahogany Town - Shortly after Seth departed for his eighth and final badge, his good friend Amethyst entered the northern Johto city, where she met new face Xam Zyron. The two agreed to a Double Battle - Amethyst deployed her Mawile(Mawii) and Butterfree(Sorii) against Xam's Gengar and Kirlia...one stunning upset from her Gengar later, Xam won against Amethyst, the latter running off after her Happiny's PokeBall.

Goldenrod City - Looking to earn her place as a Gym Leader, Lilian Astrange is proving her worth against League official Ivor Rasputin in a 5-on-5 match. Currently, her newly-caught Lilligant - Winry - is up against Ivor's Eevee - Ripley...thanks to a well-aimed Focus Blast from her Charizard(Caffrey), Lilian won against Ivor's Buizel(Leela), earning her place as the new Viridian City Gym Leader.

Ecruteak City - The Old World-inspired City served as the backdrop to a truly epic battle...if you call 3/4 of Johto's Elite Four 'epic'. Water-typer Devyn Monroe, Steel-typer Brandon Copeland, and Ice-typer Shiori Ralston went against each other in a three-way, Double Battle-style, royale match. Devyn began with Myde(Empoleon) and Riot(Wartortle), Brandon began with Charybdis(Empoleon) and Torvold(Porygon), and Shiori chose to deploy Bama(Abomasnow) and Cloyster...with Shiori's Glaceon being knocked out by an Earthquake, it came down to Pants(Devyn's Slowking) versus Arach(Brandon's Metagross). Thanks to a well-aimed Focus Blast, victory went to the blonde porcupine Elite, who quickly agreed with his Steel-typed compatriot that they best head out of the City before the Gym Leader got back.

Violet City - After arriving in Violet from her travels around the Johto region, Grass-type Gym Leader Merci Lovelace was issued a challenge by young Trainer Kyuma Maxey. Kyuma began with his trusty Bulbasaur(Saurian) against a worthy opponent - Merci's Meganium(Megami)...After a stunning display by his Nidoran(Niidara), Kyuma emerged victorious from his bout against Merci, one Fortune Badge closer to a (potential)even bigger challenge.

Blackthorn City - Dragon-type specialist - and Gym Leader of Blackthorn - Ryugi Kazamaru was challenged by platinum-blonde nutter Roz Cherrywood, the latter looking to earn his eighth and final Gym Badge before challenging the Elite Four. The battle started under Sandstorm-like conditions, Ryugi's Tyranitar - Ikatsu - squaring off against Roz's Swalot - Adell...while he made a valiant effort, victory ultimately went to Ryugi when Roz retrated to keep Croco(Feraligatr) from being KO'd by a Solarbeam from Eclipse(Charizard). This one little slip-up cause Roz to leave the city without his final badge, but it didn't seem to phaze him in the least.

Azalea Town - Eager for his second badge, Kyuma Maxey entered the Azalea Town Gym, where he quickly challenged Ruby(a notable Trainer from the Hoenn region), who was standing in for the Gym Leader. Kyuma began with his Ralts(Rei), whereas Ruby chose to begin with Popo(Castform)...despite his best efforts, Kyuma's Saurian(Bulbasaur) fell to Ruby's Mimi(Milotic), and the young Trainer lost the match. However, he did agree to call the Hoenn native for a rematch sometime.

Ecruteak City - Newly-appointed Gym Leader of Ecruteak Gym - Dark-type specialist Leila 'Liliel' Blanchard - invited mystery 'Trainer' Toro to battle, the Dark-typer's Absol(Israfil) being defeated by Toro's Ninetales(Rei) in quite the close match.

Olivine City - The pier City played host to a battle between two 'potential' rival Trainers, Arthur Shell and Noel Evelyn. Currently, his Luxray is against her Arcanine...Unfortunately for Arthur, Noel's strategy was a bit too advanced for him, ultimately giving her the win. Whereas Arthur's whereabouts are currently unknown, Noel has her mind set on challenging the Frontier Brains.

Ruins of Alph - Kaiser Fortunello - Elite Four member, and a specialist of both Bug- and Fire-types - came across quite the odd scene, in a talking Zoroark named Devlin Derringer. After a brief misunderstanding - Kaiser thought Devlin was wild -, the two found themselves battling each other, the Zoroark showing off his impressive illusionary abilities against the Elite Four's entire team...due to a mis-understanding on Kaiser's part, the battle had no conclusion, and the two agreed to explore the Ruins of Alph together.

Olivine City - Both men wanting to brush up on their battling skills, Trainer Aitrus Donovan and Elite Four Water-typer Devyn Monroe agreed to a quick, one-on-one battle before the Elite returned to the Indigo Plateau. It quickly turned into a battle of the Psychic-types, Aitrus' Gardevoir(Nathaniel) squaring off against Devyn's Slowking(Pants)...one drenched floor of the Glitter Lighthouse later, victory went to the blonde Elite.

Mahogany Town - Fiery-haired Trainer Ceiflu Xellas chose the quiet northern town as the start of her Gym Leader Challenge, quickly issuing a challenge to Reno Morado, master of the Electric-type. The 3-on-3 bout between the two redheads began with Ceiflu's Whimsicott - Whimsy - pitted against Reno's Luxray - Kamitsure...with the final match - her Fraxure(Frack) vs. his Raichu(Vincent) - ending in a tie, Reno conferred that Ceiflu did a bang-up job for her first Gym battle, awarding her the Spark Badge.

Blackthorn City - It was a dark, stormy...day? in Blackthorn City, when a pair of Gym Leaders - Goldenrod's Water-typer, Jackson Vakarian, and Mahogany's Electric-typer, Reno Morado - decided it was high-time that a 'little' property destruction was in order for the Dragon-typed City. The battle quickly becoming dominated by Rain weather, Jackson's Politoed(Joey) was sent out against Reno's Luxray(Kamitsure)...despite a remarkable showing by his pokemon - Surge(Electivire) and Vincent(Raichu) nearly taking out Jack(Swampert) and Tumbler(Blastoise), respectively - Reno failed to best Jackson, even with his type advantage. However, the two Gym Leaders do have a respect for each other now.

Violet City - Eager young Trainer Mackenzie 'Mac' Rowe was quick to challenge young lady Mona Ailteilé to a one-on-one battle. Mac chose to deploy his Ralts against Mona's Torchic. The young Emanation Pokemon lost, but it wasn't a complete downer for Mac - while Mona's Torchic evolved into Comusken afterward, the young man captured a Riolu.

Blackthorn City - Deciding to step down from his position as Gym Leader, Ryugi Kazamaru held a competition in the Dragon-typed City, in order to choose his successor. First up? New face Kai Benihara, who chose to deploy his Salamence(Titania). In response, Ryugi chose his 'Queen of the Seas', Kisaki(his Kingdra). Unfortunately, Kai couldn't best Ryugi's Kingdra, although he did manage to impress the 'former' Dragon-typer. Next up? Ryugi's own former understudy, Ammiel Moonblade, who chose his Garchomp(Ryumi) to combat Ryugi's signature pokemon, his Charizard(Eclipse). Sadly, Ammiel forefitted his match against Ryugi, which left another new-comer - Sylvia Alden-Larson, with her Sceptile(Sherwood) - against a newer addition to the former Gym Leader's team - his Ferragon(Damascus)...whatever a Ferragon is. Not really getting a firm grasp on Ryugi's 'out-there' battling style, Sylvia seemed to forfeit as well, meaning...?

Goldenrod City - Despite being a Johto City, Goldenrod played host to a tense clash between two Kanto Gym Leaders: Saffron City's Ice-typer, Uria Coldfire, and Cerulean City's Normal-typer, Simon Eldritch. The two men agreed to a 4-on-4 battle, beginning with Simon's Dunsparce(Auger) against Uria's Abomasnow(Hails)...unfortunately for Uria, the damaging effects from Hail didn't help him his time, as victory ultimately went to Simon.

Battle Factory - A bit miffed about how a certain challenger - Trainer, and professional nut-job, Roz Cherrywood - arrived at his facility, Factory Head Liam Hikari all but ordered an explanation from the blonde. Once that was given - the two men finally seeming to reach an agreement with each other -, a battle was in order. Liam began with his newest team member, a Pawniard(Scabbard). Roz, meanwhile, went with a pokemon from a 'recurring' type on his team: a Spinarak(Mason)...[In Progress]

Indigo Plateau - The newest addition to the Elite Four's roster, Fire-typer Teddy O'Donnell, was eager to see what his fellow Elites had in terms of power. So - with the agreed referee being a fellow Elite, Water-typer Devyn Monroe -, Teddy challenged Steel-typed Elite Brandon Copeland to a 'friendly' four-on-four match. Teddy began with his trusted Charizard, Lucy, against Brandon's Torvold(Porygon-Z)...despite a genuine effort from Brandon, Teddy's prowess with his Nidoking(Jigen) finally won out against the Steel-typer's Bastiodon(Blockage), victory going to the Fire-type Elite.

Ruins of Alph - In an effort to become next on Merci's list of challengers at the Violet City Gym, rock-star Adonis Sanguine challenged (over-eager)young Trainer Mac Rowe to a quick, one-on-one battle. Adonis currently has his Pikachu(Go-Go) practically neck-and-neck with Mac's Ralts(Flash)...despite a strong showing from Go-Go, Flash won the battle...and even evolved into Kirlia, to boot.

*undisclosed* Team Rocket HQ - Finding his actions during Goldenrod's water race atrocious at best, newly-appointed Team Rocket Leader Violet Mahalovich challenged 'lowly' Grunt Demetri Ward, the latter's future with the syndicate possibly on the line. Sticking with his theme of all-purple pokemon, Demetri currently has Asphyxia(Drifblim) and Twinkle(Starmie) fielded against Violet's Tyranitar(Disdain) and Clefairy(Tink)...Demetri did his best against the newly-appointed Team Rocket Leader, but unfortunately, he couldn't prevail against her.

Battle Castle - While waiting for his daughter to become finished with whatever she was doing(he didn't know she was on a Castle tour), famed field researcher Samuel Mirrera challenged Normal-type Gym Leader of Cerulean City, Simon Eldritch, to a quick, 3-on-3 match(mostly for time-passing purposes). Samuel began at a bit of a disadvantage; his Venusaur - Saurii - is currently pitted against Simon's Pidgeot - Excalibur...Not really living up to the stereotype of 'meek Professor-like weakling', Samuel ultimately prevailed against Simon, his Floatzel(Jester) delivering a knock-out hit to Excalibur.

Violet City - Fresh from battling Adonis Sanguine, young Trainer Mac Rowe felt confident in his chances against Grass-type Gym Leader for Violet City, Merci Lovelace. The pair agreed to a 2-on-2 match, Mac deploying his newly-evolved Kirlia(Flash) against Merci's Breloom(Mushy)...[In Progress]

Pallet Town - Looking to start his journey in Kanto with a bang, everyone's favorite Trainer - Seth Walker(of course) - challenged former Elite Four member(and Team Rocket Admin)Lilith Ristica to a one-on-one battle. The young man seemed to know his type advantages well, fielding one of his newer team additions - his Magneton(a gift from Gym Leader Reno Morado), Maggie - against Lilith's Scolipede, Scold. Lilith's Scold was a formidable opponent for young Seth, but he had faith in Maggie's ability to best the Megapede Pokemon, and 'she' certainly didn't disappoint.

Mt. Silver - The stories of a certain Pikachu had prompted Electric-type Gym Leader of Mahogany Town, Reno Morado, to brave the blizzard-like conditions at the summit of Mt. Silver. There, he challenged the legendary Trainer Red to a one-on-one battle, both men agreeing to stay within the same evolutionary family. Red agreed to use his Pikachu, chipper and friendly as always, against Reno's signature pokemon: his demonic Raichu, Vincent. Neither snow, nor Rain, nor sleet, nor Hail could aid Vincent in defeating Red's Pikachu...although the two Mouse Pokemon did come away from the match with a respect for their evolutionary relatives. And their Trainers? Red earned Reno's respect, along with a Spark Badge. Reno managed to make Red smile, and walked away with a special PokeBall, as a keepsake of their match.

Ecruteak City - It's a Battle of th--...not really. Dark-type Gym Leader of Ecruteak City, Leila Blanchard, was challenged to a badge battle by the understudy for a fellow Gym Leader, Mahogany's Aisha Walker. The two agreed to a four-on-four, Double-style battle, and without much delay, their battle began. Leila - impressed by the entrances of Aisha's pokemon(Valentine / Pikachu, and Esme / shiny Altaria) - chose to deploy her Drapion(Galagliel) and Honchkrow(Hamaliel)...[In Progress]
