Since it's high time I stop using the OOC for discussion of the Guild Rework, I've made this thread. We will debate the measures taken to bring our beloved guild back to life here.
So far we've suggested: An Academy Curriculum, with certain classes being mandatory, among these the Medical class. This may help create interest in the medical system.
Creation of certain Villain NPCs for use in the missions subforum, to create interest in this little-used part of the guild.
Mandatory 'sick time' after missions and tourneys, to give the med-nin something to do. Without spending a certain amount of time in the hospital, your character will be considered 'wounded' and unable to take part in missions or tourneys.
A written history of both the Guild and the storyline.
A new Gaia Forums Thread to recruit new members to the guild.
The incorporation of different character classes into the guild.
A more modern setting
Re-doing the ranks post.
So far we've decided on: Rules and announcements posts in all subforums. (in progress)
Cleaning out/facelifting of all subforums. (also in progress)

Um... Do we even have a thread for the fifty-odd rules we have in this guild? Should I make one?
Also, I'm planning on re-making the rankings post, since it's kind of dated and the images are all broken. Does anyone have any suggestions before I do it?

I have a suggestion; I think that different classes should be added. Like for example a priest, samurai, outsider, etc, what ever.

Hm.. I seem to recall we discussed that a long time ago, and it never happened. Probably because it's hard to equate those classes/vocations with something that scales up to the ranks of the ninja. Also, given the Ninja-centric focus of our guild, it'd be tough to incorporate these classes into the guild, from a RP perspective. (for example, how do we rank them, how do they advance, do they get to go on missions and with whom?)
I'll put it up on the list of things being discussed.

Masa's Info for the New Ranks Thread -Academy Student: May attend the Ninja Academy Has only Basic ninja techniques May take the Written Exam to advance to Genin
-Genin: May join a team under a higher-ranked ninja teacher May make use of the Missions subforum (D-C rank) May make use of the arena subforum May use low level jutsu May summon small animal Chooses a chakra element May participate in ranking tournaments to advance to Chuunin
-Chuunin: May train a team of 1-2 Genin May take on tougher missions May use mid-level jutsu May choose second chakra element May teach at the academy May participate in ranking tournaments to advance to Jounin
-Jounin: May train up to 4 genin May teach at the academy May 'master' one element, and use high-level jutsu of that type May use solid clones May summon a large (mount-size) animal, or multiple smaller ones (up to 3) May participate in the toughest missions. May be selected for ANBU testing.
-ANBU: May Lead the toughest missions May Summon 5 small animals May use Kinjutsu-level techniques of their primary element May 'master' their second element and use high level jutsu of that type. May instruct any Genin or Chuunin in the village, even those already on a team. May participate in the selection and testing of prospective ANBU
All ranks are considered to be slightly physically stronger, faster, and more resilient than the rank below them, and to have a larger chakra reserve.
It takes a gap of 2 ranks for a truly one-sided battle, (like Genin vs. ANBU) though higher ranks usually have the upper hand.
Fact: The above is a direct word-for-word copy of something I wrote in a notebook because I was just that bored.

sean701 How about we set our selfs in a more modern era. You know where cars and phones actually exist. something like full metal alchemist era? Anata wa watashi ga zutto mae ni "sayounara" to yutta hito wo omoidasaseru.
Technically, phones already exist. Jounin were using them in one of the chapters.
The "Narutoverse" is a mash-up of modern and futuristic technology in a feudal Japanese setting.
I mean, they have supercomputers...just no cars or guns.
You remind me of someone I said goodbye to a long time ago.

I worked at a Manhattan Bagels this one summer. Apparently, they're a full-fledged sandwich shop. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, the whole shebang. Much more than just bagels. So I asked the franchise owner--this was a couple years ago back when they used a franchise-based business model--so I ask the franchise owner, "I thought this was a bagel shop. Why are you selling all this other stuff?"
And so he looks at me and gives me this smart-alecky 'Duh!' sort of look, and he says, "Because you can't run a business selling JUST bagels." I mean, it made sense. Bagels are pretty situational. You don't always NEED bagels. You don't have a lot of people who are HUGE FANS of bagels. So if you want enough customers to keep a business like that afloat, you need to sell something else. More variety.
I suppose what I'm getting at here is, I really don't think Gaioh can survive JUST cashing in on Naruto fandom. Not enough Naruto fans left, and not enough of them are die-hard enough to stick around for very long. We need to seriously consider the pros and cons of serving a greater variety of fandoms.
