I do but Im not upgrading mine till a crack for the next firmware is updated to break the "other OS" BS.
I mean seriously maybe I want to add my PS3's processing power into a cluster someday..c.c

These fellow members disappoint me with their love for the Sony black box third generation! Surely, the original Sony box was nice and fun, and the black box second gen was superb for endless hours of gaming, I love her still to this day.
But the Microsoft money sucking machine is the most beautiful gaming console, evar, even with it's shitty red rings (which mine is currently getting repaired to fix, not by microsoft, but by a private vendor).
yes, I too, Hate microsoft, and their shitty "blue screen of death Kernel debug errors" and their "red rings of death", both of which exist due to a failure of some kind within the system, but they continue to happen only because of a bug which exists in ALL microsoft software. If microsoft never created the blue screen or a red ring to "detect when a problem occurs", people could continue to utilize their PCs and game consoles without error, except for it occasionally getting to hot.
DAMN YOU MICROSOFT!! YOU EVIL, DIRTY CORPORATION FROM HELL!!
I love sony, very much, I have a hacked PSP that I lurve (M33 software, look eet up), but I am still hesitant about their third gen price box. I have played it, and it's graphics are unimpressive in comparison to the 360's. They're about the same. The online capability is pathetic, even IF it is free. The time it takes to boot itself up, to run a game to the title screen, and to load in between stages (sony's nefarious loading screens) is just way to ******** slow and unappealing for a next gen gaming console. I'd honestly get a wii over a PS3.

I have never understood the need for such an electronic device when all I need is a simple little computer to play my Civ 4, NWN, and the occasional game of chess. neutral
If I dont need it... why would I have it?
What does a PS3 do that my computer cant anyways? I am somewhat numb in the head when it comes to electronic devices.

AMD's bulldozer I think is going to be for us PC fanatics... anyone see the Hexa-cores? wink at the time where the PS3 was at $600 ...$5,000 worth of PS3's = $50,000 processing power at the time hence the "other OS" option. A lot of research companies bought them because it was a cheap super computer if you put them into a cluster. Unlike the Xbox 360 you can actually add the processing power of the PS3 cluster to your computer/server ...unlike the xbox 360.... of course this is now only available if you didnt upgrade the old model PS3's. You can also put ROM's on the Ps3 with the other OS option the only real issue is that it has 512 ram....which sucks seeing as my PC has 8 gigs ... But yeah unlike the Xbox or Wii you can actually use your PS3 for something other than gaming or boost your comp buy running games on a server/cluster. I too do a lot more PC gaming with my "little" computer.

I'd honestly get a wii over a PS3. If you want fast boot ups.. try to switch out your haddrive with an SSD drive.. just bought one...its ******** @_@
