I start up school tomorrow as well.
Is there anything that you would like to discuss this week?

Sounds like a good one. What do you have to teach on this subject?

Ok, so we know that adversity is an essential part of Heavenly Father's plan. and adversity is composed of trials, disappointments, sadness, sickness, heartache, and so on. what are some things that can come from adversity?

yup, and these lead to spiritual growth and progress. which is great stuff.
In 2 Nephi 2:11 it says "For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my first-born in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility."
this scripture helps me understand why we have adversity and why it is needed.
What are your thoughts on this scripture?

I think it helps teach the principle that you can't really be truly happy unless you've experienced sadness, because otherwise you have nothing to compare your happiness to and you're not grateful for it.

thanks, for sharing that.
Each person's success and happiness depends largely on their responses to the difficulties of life.
What are some different sources in which adversity can come through?

I think most adversity comes from three main sources: from Heavenly Father trying to test us, Satan trying to tempt us, and as the result of mortal people making mistakes.

very good.
What does becoming bitter over trials do to a person?

Instead of enlarging them, it shrinks them, and they become less than they were before a trial. They allow the trial to defeat them, instead of vice versa.

exactly so instead of thinking "Why does this have to happen to me? Why do I have to suffer this now? What have I done to deserve this?" people should think "What am I to do? What am I to learn from this experience? What am I to change? Whom am I to help? How can I remember my many blessings in times of trial?"
the responses to adversity will vary, one response should be constant—trust in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The prophet Alma taught, "Whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day" (Alma 36:3).
any questions, thoughts, concerns?
