She says Gaia won't listen to us. That Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, ext is inspiring the change in all major websites like this. That the new users of the computer are too stupid to sit down and take the time to truly enjoy figuring something out, so they do.... this.
My mother says that we should give up, because Gaia won't change for us.
Anyone else hoping I get the satisfaction of proving her wrong? ;D

athena2324 well they listened to us with the Cigs, so why wouldn't they listen to us now? I asked her that. She said that the Company probably stopped sending them checks for sponsoring cigs, and then they made an agreement for them to keep sponsoring them.

What your mother doesn't seem to understand, however, is the REASON facebook, myspace, and youtube are inciting change. They are part of the web's inter connectivity, they provide users with features they want and ways to keep in touch with each other. At the roots, this is also Gaia's purpose. They change because they believe that we like it more, and so it will incite more traffic to the site. These changes, like any site, or any company, occur because the site wishes to be more user-oriented. At the heart, the user is in mind. Usually, these changes are for the better, however in a few circumstances it is the opposite.
Two extremely notable examples of changes that were negative are: -'New Coke' which caused Coca-Cola to nearly bankrupt, and they were forced to completely destroy the product. -Windows Vista, which had so much user-outcry that the new system was released in a fraction of the time between Xp and Vista.
If you look at these examples you see that regardless of what the company may think, they do monitor user output, as it is the basis by which they either succeed or fade into the obscurity of history.
