There is a point to my nonsensical, egotistical, and other wise leet-speak title
I'm learning [very slowly I must add] how to play the piano, and bass, and violin and what ever suits my fancy that day. Well I've been focusing on the bass this month so I printed out some tabs of Bauhaus. When you print out things for yourself though, you have to be kind enough to print things out every one. So, my music class [which consists of 3 people] had a sing-a-long to "I'll Fall With Your Knife".
It was pretty awesome, if I do say so.
[[No it's not deathrocky but it was gothy]]

FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
My 11th grade art teacher was a fan of goth back in the day. She still has Siouxsie eyebrows to this day.

A Paranoid Angel Seriously? That's pretty awesome! She's actually pretty hot. Despite being forty-something she looks like she's in her late twenties. My current art teacher was also active back in the beginning of punk.

no one in the south knows s**t about goth rock
If you say "oh I'm into post-punk" you have to follow it with "...like The Cure"

xChrisThePanda no one in the south knows s**t about goth rock If you say "oh I'm into post-punk" you have to follow it with "...like The Cure" The only places in the US where people would probably get it are on the campuses of trendy art schools. OH is in the same boat.

xChrisThePanda no one in the south knows s**t about goth rock If you say "oh I'm into post-punk" you have to follow it with "...like The Cure" There are some people locally who are knowledgable about goth rock and the like, but most of them are in their twenties and higher. Otherwise you'll just get a bunch of teenyboppers whining that genres are somehow labelling thus persecuting them individually.

How can someone over 25 not know who The Cure is?
They even had stuff on the top 40's stations, Just Like Heaven was huge...
That baffles me...

Yeah, damn. I'm just as baffled. They only know who they are when you hum, "Friday I'm in Love." And only because it was on some commercial.

Portland has a pretty good goth scene in general I suppose, but it's heavily permeated by industrial. At least it's good industrial though. Most goth nights at clubs I've been to play mostly industrial, but do throw in some Sisters and Siouxsie, and people will actually dance to it, which is nice. I'm told one club night I haven't been to, Hive, plays a lot more goth and deathrock.

The Portland goth scene, at least half of it, is pretty friendly. My parents are more involved in the industrial scene over there and there are mos' def. some crossovers in the dj-ing.

I really hope my goth social life gets better once I can drive...and go clubbing.
