My Life and Post-Life:
I was a fine girl from a prosperous port town in India, a ship captain's daughter. It is why my name is so unusual. Then we moved to a Puritan town in Massachusetts. I lived nicely, never offending, but never fitting in, for my unnatural eyes any hair. I was too pale. Where my classmates had gold or chocolate-colored hair and tanned skin, I was always pale, with my violet eyes and lighter-than-cornsilk hair. When the witchcraft scare swept through Massachusetts, I was instantly incriminated. I was burned, and wander the earth today, because my soul cannot rest. I help other souls get to the next world, but cannot go there myself. I come here for curiosity- Never, in all of my over-300 years, have I been to a school.
I Forgot:
It is a common misconception that ghosts cannot lift objects. It isn't true. I cannot touch what is alive, or has lived, but I can touch things that have been adjusted by human hands until its memory of life has faded away. A carved piece of wood I cannot touch, but one with paint and gloss that has been sanded- I could throw it at your head if I so wished.
