*gasp* New topic!!
My favorite type of music is (predictably) the weird, non-mainstream kind that a good deal of people have never heard of.
There's the punk-cabaret awesomeness of "The Dresden Dolls", the story/folk/edwardian style of "The Decemberists", the folk-rock of Veda Hille, and a handfull of other songs and artists most people have never heard of (such as "A Silver Mount Zion"'s epic song, 'God Bless our Dead Marines')
Some people I like that you may know include Elliott Smith, The Cranberries, Motion City Soundtrack, Citizen Cope and Placebo.
Also, ZOMG AMANDA PALMER IS COMING TO MONTREAL!!!!! eek eek xd xd xd >w< YEEEESSS!!! *punches air* Finally!! :3 'Kay, I'm done now.

sweatdrop Our forums are a bit dusty...people tend to like continuing existing topics, so it's always a nice surprise when there's a new one.
Who here has gone to a concert of a band that they really like? Were they as impressive in person?

Even though the sound quality is usually nil, you can still get a good feel for the thing. I guess it depends how good they are at entertaining the crowd between songs.
