Draug Faroth.

Welcome to Draug Faroth. Draug to an outsider maybe described as a pack of barbarians with little or no beliefs, fearsome warriors with proud and insolent characteristics. To a certain extent this is true, the wolves which call Draug home are proud and on the whole, warriors. However you'd be foolish to think this, the wolves of Draug hold a strong set of moral beliefs of right and wrong, they fight fearlessly to protect these, their family and home. Not only this they are also deeply religious, their predominant belief being that all aspects of the natural world contains spirits and these should be worshipped, respected, feared and often held in awe.

Beliefs

On the matter of the treatment of others:

000 ~ In regards to those belonging to the pack, there is a strong ranked system and respect is given duly, the saying goes 'respect should be earnt' that is true for all of Draug's ranks they have not be gained simply because of connections or favours they have been earnt and therefore it is expected that everyone within the pack respects this and the ultimate judgement of the alpha's which have been bestowed the said ranks.

000~ In regards to general treatment, Draug is strongly bound by a sense of family and though they may often quarrel amongst themselves they are still bound by a strong sense of place, family and moral code.

000 ~ Due to the nature and respect of the natural ranking system omega's within the pack may be looked down upon and light bullying may occur however any form of malicious or hurtful abuse will not be permitted (physical or mental) and will be stamped out by those of higher rank.

000 ~ In regards to outsiders, anyone and everyone may pass through Draug but they must show respect and ill intent will not be tolerated. Those that wish to come into Draug will not be classed as a 'family member' until they have undergone the rite of passage, this is a simple test conducted by the present Druid, it is a simple display of their understanding of Draug's beliefs.

On the matter of love, mating and pups:

000~ Draug is predominately a pack that believes in heterosexual relationships and values the commitment of life partnerships. Flings are not unheard of however they usually only occur between the young and are generally frowned upon.

000~ In regards to homosexual relationships they are rare within Draug. The males often bond in regards to a brotherhood and will work closely in hunting and fighting/battle and in contrast the females form a sisterhood, nurturing the young, caring the elders and up keeping the scared shrines. But relationships happened rarely and are thought of as fruitless.

000~ Pups often occur between life mated partners and are predominately cared for by their parents however the pack mother will often oversee the care and training of the young, working with the packs Druid, Hunting Captain and Hunting Trainer to make sure a well balanced level of training occurs.

On the matter of fighting and war:

000~ Draug's main focus is not upon war, battle and fighting though they have a strong persona of this it is mainly due to the packs focus on hunting and the transferable skills. However they have a strong moral code of right and wrong and will fight to protect this.

000~ Generally neutral in regards to large pack to pack politics though they are easily fired up should anything harm their way of life and strong believes.

On the matter of religious beliefs:

000~ General beliefs are that every aspect of the natural world have a spirit and they must be respected. To what level generally depends on the individual wolf, some may scoff at the idea of the trees have living pulses, opinions and views as a rather radical idea though they may jump at little during the season of Samhain when they hear the trees creak and they avoid the Elder tree. However other wolves maybe deeply influenced by the beliefs and often leave offerings around the base of a tree or standing stone for multiple purposes. It is up to the individual to connect with the spiritual side of their soul.

000~ When a wolf dies within Draug a burial is usually formed. A designated pack member will dig a grave and the whole pack will then attend the burial, the body then covered over. It is also usual for personal belongings the wolf may have had to be buried alongside them, it is considered ill fated for a family member or mate to keep belongs of a deceased. It is the general belief that a wolfs spirit returns to the earth.

000 ~ Head hunting, it is not a welcomed practice and is rather frowned upon by Haku and the packs Druid though it still occurs from time to time. If the pack has been in battle, warriors may rip the head from enemy wolves and carry them back to the packs territory and place them upon one of the two sets of gateway standing stones to display to visitors and surrounding packs that Draug does not welcome enemies to their way of live, beliefs and morals.

000~ There are seven main trees which are important to Draug's spiritual beliefs, these are;
Oak - A symbol of strength and the root of all knowledge
Ash - A symbol of protection
Apple - A symbol of fruitfulness and life.
Hazel - A symbol is wisdom
Alder - A symbol of resurrection but also battle as once cut/broken the bark turns from white to blood red.
Elder - A symbol of the supernatural.
Yew - A symbol of immortality.

000 ~ Standing stones are found though out Draug's territory, they are generally markers for spiritual places, entrances to groves, circles where gatherings are held and it is generally, besides particular tress, where offerings are laid.

Festivals:

000~Their festivals are controlled by the cycles of the sun and moon and are magical times when the boundaries between real and supernatural worlds are believed to be are their weakest.

Imbolc – The Festival of Lights. Sacred time celebrating the coming of spring and life placing emphasis on the quickening of the year, the strengthening of the light that is beginning to pierce the winter's bleakness. This is generally when the pack celebrates the coming spring when prey will be bountiful and to bide the unforgiving winter goodbye. This is usually held in the great stone circle where stories are shared.

Beltaine – The Festival of Blossom. The wolves usually congregate in the Apple Grove to celebrate Beltaine, it is a time to celebrate fertility, love and prosperity. Most budding romances are usually brought to blossom at this time of year and most pups are conceived. For old life mated pairs this is a time to cherish and celebrate the happier moments together.

Lugnasa - The Festival of Plenty. This is usually held in late summer when the sun is losing some of it's strength and rises farther in the south each day and nights grow longer. The plants are setting their seeds ready for the next year and young animals are now almost fully grown. This festival occurs in the Hunters Grove, the whole pack gathers and hunts together celebrating the plentiful array of prey before the winter hardships to follow. It is also usually the first pack hunt a young pup will take part in.

Samhain – This occurs at the end of autumn, not when the leaves have coloured but when the last leaf falls from the Great Oak in the heart of the packs territory. It symbolises the beginning of winter and the dark counter part of festival of blossom which greats the summer. More than this it is the mysterious moment which belongs to neither past nor present, to neither this world nor the other it is believe that the veil between worlds was at it's thinnest and the pack is allowed to communicate between the two worlds. It is encouraged that wolves stay away from the large singular Elder tree at this time of year as strange things have occurred surrounding it but it is however expected that wolves travel to the lone yew tree grove, the stronger connection to the other world allowing easier communication to the dead and respect must be paid to their ancestors.
