I love Ghost in the shell, and I wondered how many fans were in this guild. Please discuss all the mangas and animes in this amazing series. What do you think of the philosophical and political ideas, the art and most important the characters of this series

It's an excellent anime, The movies where excellent and were full of philosophy and intelligent observations on modern day society.
I've always been a fan of Batou, Kusanagi and Togusa. Innocence was probably my favorite incarnation as it dealt pretty heavily with what humanity is while still dealing with a fair amount of action and subtle comedy.
I've always liked Batou as he was heavily cyberized but seemed one of the most human, he exercised even if it did not benefit him, he liked to joke and drink and had a fondness for random things that people take for granted. He's a giant with a heart of gold and has some of the best dialogue around.

I liked the episode ~Red Data~ when The Major saves a little kid from some thugs and he follow her back to the penthouse sweat she was staying at. It got weird when he asked her if androids have sex. The Major raised the blanket and said "want to find out", he replyed "I'll pass". I would have been happy just to be there with the infamus Major. sweatdrop

I loooooove opening from Innocence. And Kugutsuuta ura Mie Chiru is awesome. All the songs from the series "Gits" are amazing. My favorite character? Kusanagi, of course. But also Saito and Batou, and from the second season, Kuze. Well... Tachikoma... The best comments exchanged between them. Beautiful song, when they destroyed the rocket. Very cool are stories at the end of episodes with Tachikoma. Ah... Unfortunately I have no way to watch the Solid State Society. I'm not sure if they released the movie in my country... And I do not want to see the poor quality of the SSS on the web. : P So I can wait. I hunt for manga ... :>
Are there any other movies that did not mention? I watched the first movie, Ghost in the Shell, after two seasons and Gits 2: Innocence. I know that the stories were issued separately from the ends of the series with the Tachikoma. I know that is Solid State Society. Is there anything else?

OMG! I loooooove Ghost in the Shell! It's one of my favorite anime of all times for various reasons (intellect and philosophy are included, of course). For me all the characters are quite likeable, so I find it difficult to choose a favorite.
I think, for now, I like Saito, Kusanagi, Batou, Togusa, and (who can forget?) the tachikomas.

Watched most of Stand Alone Complex, I believe... Mostly out of order.
A lot of shows like this, between the shoot-em-up violence and spy thriller missions, you get bored. Not this one. The questions they bring up and the real life implications are astoundingly relevent. Even moreso as we actually begin to move in this direction. Soon we will have 'robotic' limbs. The question is, where do we stop and what do we use this technology for?
It's coming. Just you wait.
But even to our everyday lives, without all the robots, nuclear missiles, and secret agencies, the show frequently addresses our society as a whole. At what point does personal responsibilty make us act on our humanity? Or do we let the system run its course?
I certainly would like to get a chance to see more, or at least the SAC in order.
Also, the laughing man is epic.

Anaithnid Miuil who here finds Batou's relationship with his dog hilarious! What do you guys think? It is very amusing, especially since Batou doesn't seem like the sentimental types nor the sort that would spoil anyone. I found Togasa's relationship with his basset hound quite amusing as well, as it creates utter chaos in his household. I really liked the part in Innocence where Batou's dog turns around and gives Togasa a meaningful look that seems to say, "can I go back to your house please?"
