Ertai fell to his knees as the white light of the teleportation had subsided. His eyes were glossy and looked around as if he was lost. His wounds seeped black blood which slowly shifted to a crimson hue, a mortal color. He clawed forward, his hand shaking as he reached for what looked to be a door knob of some sorts just sitting on a wall.
"Grahhh, Jo-Jo-Johanna... Open the door for me, gr-grab something to wrap m-m-me up with b-before I b-bl-bleed out..."
His eyes closed as he passed out, his face slamming onto the dark black onyx floor. A pool of blood forming around him.

An inarticulate scream clawed up her throat at the sight of Ertai being cut down. What Johanna had previously been about to say was forgotten in an instant as she watched the blow expose his ribcage on his right side like a fish gutted under a fisherman's knife. Hardly a moment later he was struck again, and she felt her chest ache in response. Ertai managed to keep his feet and even cursed his enemy before falling to his knees. In a heartbeat she was at his side, ignorant of the blood that rapidly pooled around them. Johanna placed her hands on his chest as if she could hold him together herself (even though his body was already knitting together) and was completely ignorant of him reaching towards her or of them disappearing. A wretched sound shook her, "Oh God, what do I do? Ertai!"
He did tell her. Johanna nodded tearfully, "'Kay, got it," and got the door for him. She rushed inside to find something to staunch the bleeding with and came back with a heavy black towel that might have come from a bathroom somewhere beyond. In the time that she had left him he had fallen unconscious and was bleeding profusely onto the floor, so the first thing she did was roll him onto his back. Heedless of the unnaturally warm puddle she knelt in Johanna pulled his head into her lap so he wouldn't drown in his own blood and pressed the towel down on his chest as hard as she could. "Ertai? Please hear me; I don't know what to do!"

Ertai opened his eyes and gasped lightly as he looked down at his seeping wounds, never before had he ever been caught off guard as he just was. He had been in countless battles, yet never had he lost focus of the task at hand. He was collapsing in on himself, his power was fading and fading fast, he still had some regeneration and manipulation of some of his psionic gestures, but he was slowly finding himself vulnerable.
"You did nothing, it was my fault..."
He tried to pick himself up, and he did so slowly. He held tight onto the desk in his quarters, positioning himself to sit upon a simple wooden chair. He winced as he held himself.
"That ********... How did he get into my garden... This is happening too quick, my boarders are open for the entire multi-verse to come walking on in, and they will..."
He slowly stood and fell back once again into the chair, he looked over at Johanna and smiled sheepishly, his pale eyes looked into hers.
"Johanna..."

"You shouldn't be moving," Johanna was visibly shaken up by the experience, but compared to him that was nothing. That he could move at all surprised her immensely; that he could speak (And smile, of all things!) was more surprising still. She stared at him, frozen under Ertai's gaze like a rabbit caught in the headlights of an immense eighteen-wheeler. At length she licked her lips nervously, unaware that she still knelt in his blood. "You shouldn't be moving," She repeated numbly as he tried to get up again and failed.

As Ertai moved the wounds slowly reopened and he continued to bleed out. His face contorted with pain as he took full stance and stood to his feet. He staggered past her and ripped off his shirt, his hands holding his wounds, fingers slipping in as well. His face became even more pale as he fell back, knocking over a large mirror, causing it to shatter, slipping slightly he fell to his knees and hands. He gripped the glass and winced even more as he fell with his back up against the side of his bed.
"I... I... I can't even hold myself together Johanna... Look..."
He was clearly losing his mind as well as a lot of blood. He held out his glass punctured hand to her with that same sheepish smile upon his face. His head fell back against the bed as he bled from his mouth.
His eyes flickered lightly as he pointed to his desk.
"Its in there... Grab it Johanna, get my ruby ring... I think it's the ruby one... Well one of them can heal me... I think but don't grab the green one, or was it the pink one? It's in there Johanna, grab it... My blue ring... I think it can heal me..."
He closed his eyes and his hand dropped.

She got up when he did and guided him across the floor to the bed. Already in a flustered state of panic from his condition his garbled instructions did her little good; all she got from them was that one of the rings in his desk was supposed to be able to heal him. Would he be able to tell which one it was in his delirious state? Or was she supposed to just... just try them all?
Johanna rifled through the drawers of the desk and finally found what she was looking for: one of the drawers was actually lined with black velvet, and nestled in this velvet was an assortment of jewelry (mostly masculine-looking rings and watches, but her groping hands passed over a pair of diamond studs that even in her frenzied state she found appealing). Johanna picked out all the rings and hurried back to him, spilling two from her hands in her haste that she had to go back and pick up. She flung them down beside him and began sorting through them. "Which is it Ertai: the ruby or the sapphire? Or this turquoise one here? And you said... oh- not the green," Johanna brushed it aside, away from the haphazard pile amassed beside him, "Pink? No, the red..."

Ertai opened his eyes and looked over at Johanna with another stupid smile. He brushed his hand over her face, gently down the contours of her jaw-line before he looked down at the rings. He grabbed one from her grasp and placed it on his finger, he then proceeded to punch himself in the chest which activated a bright white light.
Ertai's wounds slowly started to heal, yet leaving a seeping scar. A red V ran the details of his chest, his hands closed their wounds and he seemed to be at near top health.
"Johanna... I'm so sorry, that I couldn't defeat that man... I can't even protect myself... Let alone you..."
He tried to stand yet his strength was sapped from the current events that plagued them. He looked down at her and extended his hand to her, a simple gesture to help her to her feet. His bear chest was built and riddled with various scars and odd tattoo like marks. His shoulders were massive when his shirt was off, protruding his strong neck and detailed abs. He figured if he was going to live forever he might as well look like he could.
"You saved me..."

"You saved yourself," She managed to say, "I just did what you told me to." Johanna didn't like this talk about failing to protect her; the man who'd attacked Ertai had clearly been intent on him and had not paid her the slightest interest. If anything she was to blame for his injury, for without her interference Ertai would have squashed his opponent like a bug and come away unscathed. As it were...
She refused the hand he offered not out of stubbornness, but out of a sense of "unworthiness." He had no reason to try and comfort her when he was the one who'd been bleeding out all over the place. Johanna remained sitting on the bed with her eyes cast downward, idly fiddling with the small pile of rings beside her.

Ertai looked at his hand and frowned slightly before moving it back to his side. He walked in front of her and moved his hand causing the blood and glass to dissipate into nothing but smoke. He turned to a large stand alone closet and opened it up, he reached in and removed a simple white button up shirt, common Gaian or Earth clothing. He slid his arms in it and turned around, slowly buttoning it up.
"You saved me Johanna, I would of staggered and bled out in no time..."
He paused midway buttoning his shirt and looked at her.
"Do I repulse you... I can't help but feel like I disgust you in a way..."

"No, not at all," She didn't make a very convincing liar. Though he still lived and breathed before her Johanna already regarded him as a dead man. The world around them --his world; his dark world-- was decaying, and Johanna did not "do" decay. She was a creature of sunlight and happiness and good, clean air; though her conscious mind did not register it and would not for a long, long time, Johanna avoided his touch because on a subconscious level she thought him a corpse. The door of the tomb was closing and darkness would descend on them both if she let herself be drawn into that embrace.
She sighed. "Ertai, I know I'm not trying as I should, but... this world is so dark. There's no light and no color unless you will it, and when you have moved on the night closes on what you leave behind. I don't... I need a distraction. I'm starved for something that isn't an invention of your imagination, something that I know is going to endure. I do not have to strain my eyes past the objects in this room to know that nothing exists behind them; there's no history, no substance. I... I..." Johanna ran out words. A brilliant bead of moisture appeared in the upturned palm of the hand in her lap. A single tear had left a glistening trail down her cheek and landed in her palm. She sniffed and rubbed the back of her forearm across her eyes, "I'm sorry. What can I possibly do to understand this?"

"I've never had substance... Everything I have created lacks soul, understanding and meaning... My entire existence has been built on this notion that life has been taken for granted... Which it has, most of the people you've seen or see are all worthless... They take this great gift so lightly, never knowing how dark Hell truly is or how sinister the world they live in is... They pride themselves on material objects, relationships that do nothing but spawn more ungrateful beings... Yet I am one in the same... You have no clue how long I've searched for -peace- yet I cannot help what I am, a beast, a monster that is nothing but clay and stone."
He tossed aside for a moment his theatrics and long winded speechs for a simple phrase.
"What am I to do when the only light I see is you... What am I to do when it doesn't have a need for you..."
Ertai lit a candle upon his desk, for no apparent reason then to watch it burn. His eyes drifted to it then back towards Johanna. He knelt down and sat on the floor next to her as she sat on the bed. He motioned to touch her leg yet he resisted, he knew she hated it deep down.
"What is going to happen... What is to become of us..."
His eyes closed for a moment as he thought of memories, some were not of us own memory, but those of people he had taken so early in their lives.
"I can make flowers sprout from nothing, I can whisper charming words and sweet nothings... I can make the sun shine so bright... Yet this will do nothing for you..."

Her words passed through numb lips, "You can? I have seen nothing of this; all you've shown me has been consumed by darkness. I've seen people torn to pieces to be sewn together as if nothing had happened. I've seen a senseless attack on you. I've seen you bleeding and --for all I knew, though I know differently now-- near death, and now I see you dying. And I want to help, but there's nothing for me to draw on. I've known nothing. I've loved nothing. My new eyes are starved for something new..." She shivered, a visible movement that traveled down her body and made the hair on her arms stand erect. Johanna rubbed her arms as if chilled and continued, her voice hushed, "Ertai, I don't need grandeur. I could remain seated where I am for days if I had to. Just... show me something alive? Reconnect me with the living?" She pleaded with him, her eyes going distant as if trying to unravel the mysteries of the room behind him. Her thoughts strayed to the flower he'd placed in her hair previous to the attack, and with shaking fingers she reached up to feel for it against her inky black hair.

"I want to give you the beauty of this world, yet you hold the key Johanna... You hold it inside you... Believe me I will show you the beauty of this wondrous world... There is one place untarnished by the world crumbling, it is the only shard of my home world that I have left... Would you like to see it?"
Ertai looked up at her and made an attempt at a smile. When the chips were down Ertai was normal like any other man, he wanted what every living being wanted, to just be -happy- content with his life and his being. Yet this was much harder because he had to make someone who didn't know him love him.
"Johanna I am consumed by darkness... I just need the one I love to help purge me of this evil that lingers inside... I do love you so very much..."
He looked back down at the ground and pulled his knees up slightly, he felt as if he was a child at that very moment, seeking affection so much it nearly pains him.

What are you doing, when he's so obviously bent out of shape over you? Came the thought, and on the heels of that, He's playing you for a fool. Johanna wore a poker face when he tried to smile at her, feigning only mild interest while inside she was in turmoil. She wanted to believe that Ertai was only using her to regain his powers and restore his personal universe, but his "facade" --or what she wanted to believe was a facade-- had not faded or wavered one jot since he'd begun to try and woo her. At the same time she was starting to feel horrible at keeping him at arm's length when he was so obviously trying. Hell, she had not been in his company long and already he was proclaiming his love for her. Was it so wrong of her to think he was going too far too fast? And if not then why did it feel that way?
Johanna patted Ertai's shoulder awkwardly, "Of course, Ertai." She managed a bright, cheerful smile for him, thinking she could concede even a little, "I would very much like to see it."
