"I walk in eternity... What do you do?"

Traveling anywhere can be an interesting endeavor. Traveling through time can be indescribable. At The Doctor's side, you'll visit vast new worlds, meet unique alien life forms, and save the universe on more than one occasion. There's certainly never a dull moment. But traveling with The Doctor isn't all fun and games. Playing the hero can be dangerous business, especially when the man leading you in to trouble is anything but sane. Death lurks at every corner, sometimes even your own, and you'll face horrors you can't imagine. But if you've got the courage to give this a try, it'll certainly be a journey you won't soon forget...

((This is a Sixth-era Doctor Who Rp.))

Name: The Doctor (Sixth)
Race: Time Lord
Personality: The most violent and aggressive of the Doctor's incarnations, he could also be the most childish. Arrogant, dramatic, self-absorbed, and stubborn, the Sixth Doctor instantly believed himself superior to most everyone he encountered and almost never doubted his own abilities. He was unpredictable, his behavior often erratic and unstable, based in large part to his unstable regeneration. His memory was not at its best and he could be forgetful to such an extent that he'd call his companions, especially Peri, by the names of past friends or enemies.
He could at times be completely unlikable, but his brash exterior hid the fact that this was a Doctor more determined than ever to defeat the evil he encountered. At times, he even saw the logic in murder to reach a 'good' end. He also had a love for poetry and often recited bits of it. The best way to describe this Doctor is 'extreme.' Nothing about him was half, be it good and bad. He was full-confidence, full-arrogance, full-passion. He was almost too much of everything, a personality under which most people would burn out. He was loud, bright, and in your face and not a Doctor who wanted to go unnoticed, if his coat was any evidence. He considered himself something of a 'superhero' and he wanted everyone else to know it.
Appearance: The Doctor
Other: Doesn't have a Sonic Screwdriver, as Five lost it. He does, however, have a more offensive tool, the Sonic Lance.

Name: Perpugilliam "Peri" Brown
Race: Human
Personality: An American student, Peri started out traveling with the Fifth Doctor, a short time before his regeneration to the Sixth Doctor. She puts up with quite a lot as the Sixth Doctor's companion, but she deeply admires him for his courage and brilliance (even though she is often the target of his mood swings.)
Appearance: Peri
Other: Peri is a bit of a botanist, studying alien plants whenever she encounters them.

Name: Sarah Jane Smith
Race: Human
Personality: Sarah Jane is a journalist. She met the Doctor at a UNIT facility at which time she was pretending to be her aunt for a story. During her visit, she wandered into the TARDIS, and thus her adventures with the Doctor began. Sarah is a very curious young woman as all writers are. Because of this, she sometimes goes off on her own, which usually gets her into some kind of trouble. Her journeys with the Doctor ended when he received a call from Gallifrey. Since then, Sarah has tried to move on with her life, but part of her still longs for him to return.
Appearance: Sarah Jane

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Username Nic Coay
Name: Professor Sam E. Rhett
Race: Human
History: Very little is known about the Professor. He arrived in London about three months ago with an impressive resume and a story about aliens. He claimed he could prove their existence and managed to acquire a small, but well-funded team from the government to pursue this. He has put together a strangely advanced distress call to try and lure an alien he calls 'The Doctor' to Earth, having agreed to hand him over to authorities in exchange for proper funding of his research. Just what his research is seems to be a mystery.
Appearance: Professor Rhett
Other: He's made quite an enemy of UNIT for agreeing to give up the Doctor, as he has been a long-standing ally of UNIT's, but the Prime Minister has thus far sided with the Professor.

((This Rp is a continuation from this thread. All that has been established is that this is at the beginning of his second adventure, 'Attack of the Cybermen,' and that he and Peri have arrived on Earth, following the signal of a distress call. This does not (and really should not) have to follow the plot of the actual show.))

Romana II
At the Doctor's comment about humans not being respected, Peri almost scoffed. "You can say that again," she mumbled with a slight eye-roll. She was a bit proud, though, at the Doctor's small praise of humanity. Suddenly, she didn't feel so small anymore, compared to the Doctor. Of course, being a human (and a weak human at that), she was at least a little inferior to him.. not that she wanted to admit it.

The Doctor walked much faster than Peri, so she was forced to run after him. When he stopped short, she nearly bumped into him, so she took a step back as he whirled around and started walking in the opposite direction. She groaned as she ran after him again, feet already starting to hurt. As she noticed the TARDIS, she couldn't stop the giggle that escaped her throat.

"Oh, neat, Doctor!" she laughed, for once not worried about what his reaction would be. When it changed from green to matching the Doctor's coat, Peri couldn't help herself- she burst out laughing. She was so entertained, she didn't even mind having to run after the Doctor again as he set off in the original direction. Still, though, she didn't want to be running after him all day, so as soon as he stopped, she put her hand on his arm and looked up at him. "Are you sure that thing's pointing the right way? I-I mean, we've been running around for a while now.."

((BOOM! New post after almost two months! XD))

-The Doctor-

"Nothing can be eternal."

"Am I sure? Am I SURE? Of course I'm sure." The Doctor retorted. He actually looked affronted that she even had to ask. Why he had to be so loud about it was anybody's guess, but there was little doubt that anyone in a five block radius probably heard him. He glanced back down at his tracking device and turned it back and forth until he decided it was leading them to the left. Turning back to Peri, he smiled and tapped her on the nose, a rather odd gesture that seemed to be his trademark sign of affection. "Trust me, Perpugilliam. Have I ever led you astray?"

With that, he set off to their left and took the first right. He paused at a fork in the road, growing impatient when the device began pointing back the way they'd come. "No, that's wrong. Come on, it's got to be this way." He banged the side of the device a few times, causing a whir of protest from the little machine, but it refused to change course. With a less than gallant 'humph' he turned back the way they had come.

The device began beeping loudly as they reached a door half-way down the alley. There were no special markings on it, just the number '14' hanging in the middle. The Doctor checked his device once more, before smiling smugly and dropping it into his pocket. Gesturing grandly to the door, he spoke to Peri. "See. I told you I knew what I was doing. This is the source of the signal, I can feel it... In fact, I feel rather oddly about the place." The Doctor admitted with a frown.

He couldn't figure why, but something about this place made him feel uncomfortable and he wanted to leave. With the Doctor, that just piqued his curiosity and made him all the more eager to have a look inside. Grabbing the door handle, he was surprised to find it unlocked. He pushed it open, but then hesitated. Something didn't feel right about this. Maybe Peri was right... Maybe it was a trap. Not that he was about to admit Peri could actually be right.

"Change, my dear. It would seem, not a moment too soon."

~Peri Brown~

"Every time you sound confident nowadays, something terrible seems to happen!"User Image

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Peri squeaked and covered her ears as the Doctor shouted at her. She had always hated when he decided to pronounce his opinion with such theatrics.. and such a loud voice! When the Doctor turned back to her, Peri covered her ears again, just in case he wasn't finished yelling at her, but she was pleasantly surprised merely to feel a poke on her nose.

At his words, Peri almost snorted, thinking to herself, "I'm going to go ahead and not answer that one." The Doctor's fast pace made Peri groan, once again having to run after him. She was glad, however, that this time she had thought to change her shoes from heels to ballet flats. She wasn't sure why exactly they were called ballet flats, since they didn't really look like ballet shoes to her at all.. but she didn't question it. All she knew was that they were popular in the first decade of the 21st century, or so it had said in the wardrobe room where Peri found them.

Peri stopped to breathe when the Doctor paused, glad for the break. She bent forward with her hands on her knees, panting for a moment. When the Doctor told her that he felt odd, Peri stood up straight, the sun in her eyes making her squint. "Well.. if you don't feel right, we can always go back to the TARDIS and.. I don't know, do a scan or something. Right? I-I mean.. we don't have to do this if you're not comfortable.." To be honest, Peri didn't quite feel right about going through the alleyway.. something about it gave her the creeps. Not that she'd be the one to tell the Doctor that. No doubt he would wave it off as simple human instinct or something.

"Circular logic will only make you dizzy, Doctor."

User ImageSarah Jane Smith had been left by the man who was giving her a tour of the warehouses. She had been assigned a job to write a column on this certain factory and its warehouses. The 33-year-old journalist was given the freedom to wander the premises until her guide returned from the important task that had called him away. The woman sighed as she looked around her trying to decide on a way to go. Her eyes landed on an alley in between two warehouses that seemed to call to her.

"Seems like as good a place as any to start," she tried to encourage herself.

Sarah walked down the shaded walkway when she found herself faced with a strange-looking rubbish bin. The thing that puzzled her was that this bin was colored in the most unusual shades. She turned away from the bin to look for a door. A silly thing like that wouldn't write a good story. Sarah Jane gasped when she turned back to look at the wall the can was against.

"Though...maybe it would," she murmured to herself in shock.

The can had turned such a familiar shade of blue. No. Rubbish bins couldn't change colors at will. It was just her eyes. The sun was causing her eyes to play tricks on her. That had to be it. She turned away from the can a bit warily when her eyes rested on a set of stairs. Those stairs led up to a door. She'd probably get a better view from a balcony looking over the whole warehouse rather than walking around boxes on the ground level.

-The Doctor-

"Nothing can be eternal."

The Doctor didn't seem to notice Peri's panting, because he hadn't slowed down since they left the TARDIS. In fact, he never seemed to slow down at all. The Doctor had always been prone to action, but this incarnation seemed permanently stuck on hyperdrive. He was a man of constant motion and it was anyone's guess when he actually found time to rest, if he even did. How he didn't burn himself out was a miracle. He sure seemed to be burning poor Peri out.

If the Doctor had been considering backing out, all thoughts of retreating fled when Peri suggested they do so. His pride wasn't about to let him show fear in front of his companion. Well, not since Jaconda, that is, but that was post-regenerative relapse, a moment of no-consequence. It meant nothing. Now he was fully himself and that self was absolutely, one-hundred percent brave. Especially in front of his companion. "A scan? There could be a wounded or dying alien marooned inside this warehouse at this very moment and you want to run back to the TARDIS and do a scan? Could you imagine how frightened you'd be, Peri, if you were deserted and alone on a strange planet?... And you want to do a scan.."

The Doctor scoffed and pushed the door all the way open before walking inside. Once inside, he could make out almost nothing in the dark shadows of the warehouse. While it was mid-afternoon outside, all the windows seemed to be bordered up and made it almost impossible to see, even for a Time Lord. The only light came from the open door. "Hello? Is there anyone in here who is not a human? If so, we'd like to help. We received your distress call and came to lend a hand."

...

"How very heroic of you." The voice came from somewhere off to their left. It was low and clearly American, though there was a familiarity to it that the Doctor couldn't quite shake. Something pressed at the back of his mind, a warning, but he didn't have much time to consider it as the lights came on. Inside, the room was littered with computer banks and massive display-screens. Circuit boards covered the walls and wires and pipes snaked along the floor, leading off further into the warehouse.

About a dozen people stood inside, most of them young men with lab coats and glasses, with a few older men and at least two women. They seemed to a conglomeration of scientists, engineers, and doctors. At there sides stood at least six uniformed guards and behind them scurried technicians in blue coats, moving from one bank of computers to the next as they checked some sort of data. In the center of the group stood the man who'd spoken, a middle-aged man in a white sweater and black sport-coat. The man locked pale blue eyes with the Doctor and something about them seemed horribly familiar. He knew this man... But couldn't remember ever having met him. "Hello, Doctor. We've been expecting you."

"Change, my dear. And it would seem, not a moment too soon."

~Sarah Jane Smith~
User ImageSarah Jane had managed to pry open the rusty door as quietly as she could. It led to an overhead skywalk filled with crates and boxes. They gave her shielding as she quietly made her way over to the railing to look down at the lower level. The whole warehouse was filled with computer equipment, wires, and pipes. What exactly were they making in this factory. It didn't look like anything her tour guide was telling her about. Did the factory have a secret or did they not even know about what was going on in this warehouse?

Sarah kept her position hidden among the boxes watching the happenings down below. She counted about a dozen workers and six guards. There were three more people who seemed to be having a conversation. Two men and a woman. She listened in closely.

-The Doctor-

"Nothing can be eternal."

"Oh? Have you? Would that make all of you aliens then? I can't imagine so many of you crashing here without raising some suspicion." The Doctor asked, growing steadily suspicious of this man and his grew of scientists. He began wondering if Peri had been right after all and this was some sort of trap. Of course, they could actually aliens in trouble. This thought was the only thing that kept him from bolting out the door right then and there. "I'm the Doctor, by the way, and this is Peri."

"We know who you are Doctor. As I said, we've been waiting for you." The man replied, ignoring the hand the Doctor offered. His concern mounting, the Doctor dropped his hand and stepped back, out of reach.

"You see, I am Professor Sam E. Rhett. I head a government division funded to search out and learn from alien representatives. We were hoping you could help us." The Professor smiled amicably, but the Doctor couldn't shake the unpleasant feeling pressing on his mind. Something about this man was too charming, too courteous. "Help you with what, exactly? I don't take kindly to having my travels interrupted, Professor. Especially not by some trick."

"Yes, well, we are sorry about that. We didn't have any other way to contact you, except through this distress beam. We found it in a alien crash site and were able to rig it up here. We were just lucky that it was you who picked up the signal." That sounded a bit too lucky to the Doctor. These people just happened to find a distress beam that not only worked properly but could project through the time vortex? And the chances that he would pick it up, of all people. No, this seemed just too coincidental to him and he was growing more and more irritated by the moment. "Yes, you were very lucky... So what exactly do you need help with, then? I'm not a very patient man, Professor. My companion and I were on our way to enjoy a relaxing holiday when you pulled us off course."

"Change, my dear. And it would seem, not a moment too soon."

~Peri Brown~

"Every time you sound confident nowadays, something terrible seems to happen!"User Image

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Peri took a step inside after the Doctor, rolling her eyes at the long-winded (not to mention patronizing) explanation of why they shouldn't leave, even though the Doctor himself said he didn't feel right. As she noticed the number of people around them, Peri gasped a little and took a step behind the Doctor on instinct.

When the Doctor mentioned her name to the strangers, Peri stepped out from behind the Doctor a little and smiled haphazardly, eyes shifting from one person to the next warily. She went back to her place behind the Doctor and mentally shivered as her mind came up with a hundred explanations for the people being here and calling the Doctor to them. Not one of the explanations was bound to be a friendly one.

Taking a deep breath to gather her courage, Peri stepped out from behind the Doctor to ask a question to the American-sounding leader, Professor.. what was it? Rhett? Peri wasn't sure.. so she would just stick to Professor, for the time being.

"I, um.. I beg your pardon, but.. uh.. P-professor? Um.. w-why the Doctor? I-I mean, he is rather brilliant.. b-but, uh.. maybe.. someone easier to find would've been.. better?" Peri tried not to look at the Doctor, and physically braced herself to get yelled at, but she couldn't help being curious.

"Circular logic will only make you dizzy, Doctor."

-The Doctor-

"Nothing can be eternal."

The Doctor noticed Peri's nervousness as she kept behind him and it only served to make him more frustrated. He didn't like people frightening his companions, especially not a pack of upstart human scientists who thought they had the right to interfere in his life. He wasn't some lapdog to be called when needed. He was a Time Lord.

He was about to ask his own questions when Peri stepped forward. He bristled. "Excuse me, Perpugilliam, but I believe I can handle this myself." His irritation was now directed at her, but he managed to hold back any further reprimand as Peri not only complimented his brilliance - which rather went with out saying but was still nice to hear - but also asked the same basic questions he was going to voice. For once he just fumed silently and let her go on. At least he knew he would have asked it more eloquently.

"A very good question, Ms..." The Doctor muttered 'Brown' and the Professor nodded. "Ms. Brown. It was rather difficult to specifically reach the Doctor, and very risky, but he was the only alien individual we had any precise knowledge on. As Scientific Adviser to UNIT, there was at least some information about him; enough to tell us that he was the man we wanted. UNIT was rather unwilling to share that information, but with the Prime Minister backing us, they really had little option."

The Doctor smiled at that. While he'd never gotten on flawlessly with UNIT, they had always been people he could count on and many of them were among those he considered friends. He was pleased to hear that their loyalty still held strong. "Alright, well you have me here now. So what is it you need me for?"

Rhett smiled and gestured down an aisle of computer banks to a closed door at the other end, a door over which a catwalk ran. "I'll show you, if you'll please follow me. You are not actually the first person we acquired to help us with this. The one before you, however, was not as helpful as we had hoped. He's in the other room."

"Change, my dear. And it would seem, not a moment too soon."

~Sarah Jane Smith~
User ImageSarah managed to overhear the gist of the conversation. Scientists, aliens, traveling, doctor... The journalist had her hand covering her mouth. It couldn't be. It couldn't be him. She thought he had died. The last time she saw him, the Doctor had been called back to Gallifrey with utmost importance. He had left her behind. She thought she would see him again, but she had not. Sarah didn't want to jump to conclusions. Even though, a lot of evidence pointed to one fact, she couldn't be sure. It could be another Doctor traveling the stars.

When she turned her attention back to the group below, she noticed that the man was leading the man designated as the Doctor and his female companion to another room. Sarah leaned a bit further forward to see their destination. However, in her movement, she shifted some boxes and one fell to the ground below. She watched in horror as it fell in almost slow motion in her eyes. The sound it made when it hit the ground was so loud in her ears. She pulled herself back covering her ears as she froze on the catwalk.
