Amelia is an amazing author and wrote her first book at age 13-14. 'In the Forests of the Night' was the first book in a indirect "series" (if you will). When I say indirect, I mean, it is not a series like BDB. There are several books where you might hear about or see a character from another book. The books don't link to tell a continuing story.

In the Forests of the Night, Demon in My View, Midnight Predator, and Shattered Mirror.

She has recently written another book but I haven't gotten to reading it yet. She also supplied a short story in the mix of "666 Number of the Beast" (I DO believe that's the collection book's name).

In the books above, she writes about vampires who live in New Mayhem which is basically a town on the outskirts of the city. Humans generally don't know about them. Witches and slayers also exist. My favorite part is, Amelia (in my opinion) makes the characters strong. I love that. I have been told Amelia's writing was low level but is NOT another Stephenie Meyer. I read Amelia's books and fell head over heels for them LONG before Twilight was heard of in my world.

Her vampires don't sparkle or call their girlfriends "spider monkey" before Spider Manning a tree. They are made to be fierce, powerful creatures. Dark, troubled, some of them truly evil.

She also wrote the Keish'ra Series which is one of my favorites. It is about shapeshifters. The thought alone bored me, but once I picked up the first book, I couldn't put the series down.I REALLY recomend her books.

For your first read, I recomend Midnight Predator.
It's the first book I ever read by Amelia. I LOVE the story and characters. This book will give you a good taste of how she writes her vampires.

The book is about a slave trade run by vampires called Midnight. Two rival bounty hunters (humans) are chosen to go into Midnight and enter the world of the trade. They are there to be slaves to the vampires but also, to assassinate a certain vampire. The leader of Midnight. One character has a particularly interesting twist.

Now, these books are young adult and so they are not romance. There is nothing explicit within the pages.

My second recommendation is:

Demon in My View. Where you meet Aubrey an interesting and powerful vampire who has been sent to kill a human who takes refuge in a very unusual hobby. She loves to write stories, but her stories end up being true. In this one, Aubrey holds an extreme dislkie towards her for writing the book "Tiger, Tiger" which, without her knowing it is Aubrey's Biography. There is a point of weakness in his past that he did not want known or even remembered by other vampires. But when this book surfaces, and the girl continues to unknowingly write vampire's biography's something has to be done. (These are my own summaries so if I make it sound lame, blame it on me then go read the book anyway!!!) ALSO! The human girl is NOTHING like Bella from Twilight. Aubrey pisses her off from the moment they meet. <3 She is a vehement one. <3

The book "In the Forests of the Night" (Amelia's first book) is actually 'Tiger, Tiger' from 'Demon in My View'. I thought that was pretty kewl.
