User ImageName: Marcella Palomo

Nicknames: Princess Marcella (from the media circus in elementary school - she hates being known as this)

Gender: Female

Age: 18

Birthday: March 7

Sign: Pisces

Blood Type: B

Fav. Food: Nominally, "anything chocolate", but actually Nutella specifically. But that's a condiment and she doesn't want people thinking she eats it right out of the jar, because that's just disgusting.

Hated Food: White fish like fishsticks. Either put enough seasoning on it so it tastes like something, or make something that has a taste of its own.

School: formerly Crystal Academy, heading to Sovereign Heights in the fall for summer classes to get a head start

Gemstone: Aquamarine

Hobbies:
Studying - It is too totally a hobby. Working on things does a lot to help Marcella take her mind off of whatever interpersonal stresses she may be experiencing. This is obviously not good for her social life, but there is something to be said for locking yourself in your room until all your homework is done, and then feeling better about life afterwords to boot.

Movies - Marcella will see pretty much anything as long as it does not look too sophomoric. She has no qualms about going to the theater herself, but will also watch movies at home - her parents are big movie buffs, and have amassed a collection of various DVDs that Marcella herself is still working through. And she would never admit this but, when she is in a bad mood, she has a small hidden collection of rom-coms that she goes to in order to cheer up. She will never cry at a movie in public (and will avoid seeing ones that she thinks may pose a threat of tears), but when she is holed up in her room with her "Love Actually" and such, the tears will flow freely.

Volunteer Work - Though she may seem pretty non-social, Marcella does genuinely want to be able to help people, and this drive is what is pushing her whole-heartedly into the medical field. In the meantime, though, she likes to seek out help opportunities where she can in the community. Dealing with kids is something she prefers to avoid whenever possible, but she is more than willing to help at soup kitchens or help build houses. If nothing else, she feels a definite closeness to the less fortunate, and an obligation to repay karma for her current place in life by helping out where ever possible. Deep down inside, though, it is something Marcella has found that she can genuinely feel good about.

---

Virtues:
Diligent - When she was little, Marcella wanted to be a doctor, even though affording medical school looked about as likely as, well, winning the lottery. Still, though, her parents always encouraged her to do her best, and insisted that she could do anything if she worked hard enough. After all, there were always scholarships for good grades and so forth, right? When the need for scholarships was no longer there, she was already in the habit of working hard, and saw no reason to slack off - she had been brought up to be a hard worker, and was really not sure how else to operate. If there is work in front of her (and she tends to ensure that there is), Marcella will always make sure it gets done. She is actually not quite the genius her GPA might indicate - though she may not understand everything the first (or even second or third) time it is explained to her, she puts in hours of study to make sure that she eventually absorbs all the material she needs to know. Her hard-working attitude is a big point of pride to her, and she is likely known to be a good partner for group projects.

Perfectionist - Going along with the above, Marcella never cuts corners. In groups, this tends to make her somewhat bossy, especially if other people are not also willing to give 110%, but no one can deny that s**t gets done on her watch. In groups, she will not always shove her way to the head of the bunch and start telling people what to do, but if it seems like no one else is stepping up, or if the person who does step up proves to be unable to keep things working smoothly and well, Marcella most likely will take over. On her own, too, she will check and recheck papers and assignments to be sure they are always done well. And since she is dead-set on going into the medical profession, one that does not allow for errors, Marcella considers it necessary preparation to get out of the habit of making mistakes. She never allows her appearance to slip and, perhaps paradoxically since she does not want to be known as a lazy rich girl, dresses in higher-end clothing and make-up, and always has her hair styled neatly.

Queenly Mask - Marcella is fairly good at shrugging off harsh words, and believes strongly that one should not argue with idiots because they will drag one down to their level and then win with experience. She rarely, if ever, swears, herself, and tends to think a bit less of those who frequently use salty language. Marcella takes constructive criticism and insults alike both fairly stoically ... like she takes just about everything else. And she would sooner remove herself from a situation without a word than sink to the level of arguing uselessly, especially over petty things. She has her own goals and her own way of doing things, and she will try to consider helpful advice (though she is more receptive to this coming from her superiors), but Marcella considers herself miles above those who would just try to get a rise out of her. So she may seem quiet, she may seem frosty, but she very rarely lets herself get angry.

Disinterested - Marcella does not bother holding grudges, and she definitely avoids judging others as much as she can. As she knows from her own life, circumstances can change drastically in the blink of an eye, for better or for worse, and so she tries to avoid holding the past over people. After all, part of the Hippocratic Oath says that the doctor should treat all people regardless of how she feels about them, or what their lot in life is. Sure, she will try to avoid you if you prove yourself to be a repeat a*****e, but if she found you hurt, she would do her best to stuff her feelings away and get you taken care of anyway. Marcella will fail at this on occasion because she is only human, but she certainly puts forth the effort.

---

Flaws:
Path of most resistance - Marcella has always had her sights set high for herself, and she takes the difficulty required to get into the medical field very seriously. She can, however, also tend to take this a little too far - whenever things bother her, particularly interpersonal things, she retreats to be by herself and works harder. True, she has not allowed her family's sudden fortune to cause her hardworking attitude to slip, but Marcella never rests on laurels of any sort. Though she may receive praise from others, she has great difficulty praising herself for her own work, and, because she is never happy with it, pushes herself harder. If she runs out of what she is working on, she finds something else. This has resulted in a young lady who can say, "hello", "good-bye", and a handful of phrases in each of 5 or 6 languages ... but who is also quite unhappy, and quite emotionally repressed. Similarly, this only helps her isolate herself - she may accept invitations to go to the movies because it does not involve a whole lot of talking to the other people with her, but parties? Prom? Probably not. And she has definitely never dated.

The last straw - Since she places so much stress on herself, Marcella does have the occasional breakdown when she can no longer bottle herself up. Count on lots of tears, expect a good deal of self-deprecation, brace yourself for at least a little shouting, and beware it coming seemingly out of nowhere. Because she does not tend to get very close to any one person or group of people, Marcella is prone to spilling her guts when she needs to to the first person she feels she can trust at least a little bit. And once she is feeling better, Marcella will apologize and never bring it up again. At least not until next time.

Queenly Mask - Though she does not show it, Marcella takes a lot of what people say to heart. As mentioned above, she bottles up more than a cola factory, and her usual response to stress, particularly from other people, is to work harder. She knows she criticizes herself quite well enough, thank you, and if someone else noticed her slipping up enough to say something, then she must have done something pretty wrong. Things that are obviously wild accusations or just malicious statements she can shrug off without too much trouble, but any plausible criticism will make her wriggle with at least a little doubt inside. Marcella just does not allow anyone to see this process unless she is actually crying all over him or her. Additionally, once she gets IN THE ZONE, particularly when she is working off a lot of stress rather than just distracting herself, Marcella does her thing at the expense of socializing with others. You think she is distant on a good day? On a bad day, you might not even see her at all.

Disinterested - The mirror image of her virtue, she also does not retain friends. Marcella appreciates help and will respond in kind, but just because someone has done something nice for her does not mean that he is a friend. She does not seem to have favorites among the people she knows, and people might be prone to thinking that she does not like them no matter what they do. Part of this stems from her suddenly and unexpectedly becoming a rich girl, and having to fear that others would only pretend to like her for her money and favors - a fear backed up by experience, but one that may have also reached unreasonable levels. Overall, Marcella is not very outgoing at all, nor very social, and does her best to avoid allowing others to know what she thinks of them.

User ImageSailor Asclepius, Senshi of Medicine

Challenge: "This beat-down is a necessary side-effect of your evil!" "Let me give you a taste of your own medicine!" "IT'S OKAY, I KNOW ZANG FU!" "Your defeat is just what the doctor ordered!" "THEY SAY LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE, BUT YOUR HUMORS AREN'T EVEN MAKING ME SMILE!"

Attack #1a:
Eucrasia Remedy!
Asclepius conjures a small bowl of clear liquid medicine which she then can give to someone else. Upon drinking the elixir, the target gains a minor boost in power to their next attack. This only works with other senshi's 1a attacks Their attack is used up as normal, however if they have run out of uses of that attack, it allows one additional use. Asclepius herself can drink the medicine if she wants, but gains no benefit from it. The bowl is made of force and only serves to contain her medicine, and therefore cannot be used as a weapon; the medicine can be tossed at other people, but if used in such a manner, it behaves no differently than plain water. She can use this twice per battle.

As far as the power-up goes, it will be a buff to either duration or power, whichever is more relevant to that particular attack. It will only work on a 1a attack, and the buff will not be a hugely broken one. Think of it like this - her medicine will make you feel 110%!

Attack #1b:
Eucrasia Restoration!
As the above, however now the medicine has the additional effect of healing the target slightly as well. Asclepius still gains no power benefits from this technique if she takes her own elixir, however she does benefit from the healing. She can use this now three times per battle.

Attack #2:
Panax! At the Disco
As Asclepius raises her hands upwards, a large yin-yang symbol appears on the ground, centered at her feet and extending in a 10-foot radius around her. All those within the area of effect who are injured are restored; all those within the area who are not injured begin to experience averse symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. Asclepius herself can only receive positive benefits from this technique. This lasts for two minuets or as long as she channels it, and she cannot move the circle once it has been cast. All those healed continue to heal over time as long as they remain within the circle; once they are restored to maximum health, they experience no ill effects by remaining within the circle. Those who do experience ill effects worsen gradually until they leave the circle, at which point they are able to recover in a reasonable amount of time. Allies are susceptible to the negative effects, and enemies can be healed.

to elaborate~

Attacks 1a and 1b are based on ancient views of medicine the world over, particularly Greek and Chinese, that believe illness to be an imbalance of elements in the body, and health naturally to be an elemental balance. Since medicines in these views of the art are meant to somehow adjust elements within the body; as these elements are tied to the planets, I thought it appropriate for Asclepius' medicine to empower her fellow senshi as well.

The #2 attack is based on the powerful properties of ginseng in Traditional Chinese Medicine - thought to be able to bring back an ill person from the brink of death, but also strong enough to send a person to the brink of death if administered improperly.

Poking through--1b should be an upgrade of 1. They look like two different attacks to me--pick one and run with it?

I feel like you're focusing a bit too much of Marcella's concept on her backstory. Most of her traits seem to revolve around that part of her life somehow, and this can be a bit restrictive in how you form her personality as well as how you RP her. What I'd recommend is, like, refer less to her family's lottery win and think about what about her allowed her to respond to it in such a way. Has she always been this image obsessed and Out To Prove Herself? If so, I would like to see that brought to the forefront more, and relate everything more to how she deals with things now than how she dealt with a past event.

Okie, rewrote flaws and virtues a little, so they should be better now. Aaaand I decided more what I want to go for with her attacks, which have been more or less completely overhauled.

OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS FOR A LESS RETARDED NAME FOR ATTACK #2.

Do the healing affects of PANAX also work on enemies?

Wait, isnt medicine almost the same thing as first aid?

I'm sorry Asahi this isn't a crit for you. ;-;

Uri - Natsu picked a predetermined sphere for this senshi. She knows what she's doing. They maybe close but it's psychically possible according to them. Otherwise she wouldn't've been put this senshi in the raffle.

I am really liking the changes you made to her traits! Here's a question, since she's really driven to be THE VERY BEST, LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS -- how does she handle insults, accusations, passive-aggressive remarks, constructive criticism, e.g. things that have the potential to make her question her pride? Does this go into her tendency to bottle her emotions?

Also, does the bossiness you briefly mentioned in her Perfectionist trait extend far enough that it could be added to her flawset?

Just out of curiosity, how many times can she conjure up the bowl of medicine?

I like! Interesting personality, and I love that you've drawn your attacks from the beliefs of Chinese medicine, which prevents you from stepping on any toes. Great idea!
