I think they go into a dreamlike state. Or they get converted into energy. Hence why some Pokemon are harder to catch then others. Then again who said that Pokemon made sense? lol

They minimize when they go into their pokeballs, and there, they rest.

Actually, in one of the early movies or episodes (can't remember which) they show some of Ash's pokemon go into the pokeballs, and they are all together in a warm grassy environment. Also there are some lakes and fruit trees. They were completely concious, but to me, it doesn't make any sense at all. What happens when they are called out? And when Ash talks to the pokeball, doi they hear some loud voice coming from nowhere? Oh well, animes never make any sense when you really think about them.

according to old commercials on channel 22, pokemon (including Ash and the funny Sock mascot xD) go to a place where all captured pokemon live ion awesomeness. It's a grassy tingy with lakes and pretty trees. lol What I wanna know is why they don't bite their trainers when they force them out of the pokeball. o.o I mean, if I lived there, I wouldn't want to leave just so I could get beated up by some bigger than me pokemon...

I have never seen that advertisement. Pokemon don't just get beat up. They also share a close bond with their trainers.
