im going to japan as my first duty station...any advice???

Learn the culture. It's very easy for a newcomer to Japan to accidentally give offense, or to say or do something socially awkward.

Where in Japan? I have friends in Yokosuka, and family in Okinawa. Most importantly, avoid any clubs that are shadey, as the Yakuza are still very prominent over there.
