Okay everyone, basically the academy was never explained properly to anyone. We send inexperienced roleplayers there to get a basic grasp of how we want them to roleplay here. Even roleplayers with basic experience don't need to go through the academy. People like Mystic and Lizzy never needed to go through the academy, and even people like Hunter, Kairi, and Kima didn't need to. You can of course go through the academy if you want to, even if you are an experienced roleplayer. However, especially now when we actually need to fill the squad rosters, we want to get people the best rp experience they can have here and that's by getting them out of the academy ASAP. Its just no fun being stuck in the academy for weeks when all the big kids are out playing all over the seireitei and beyond.
Now, what we need is a good screening process, a way of deciding when a person joins if they should go through the academy or if they can skip it. I think the best way to do this is to ask for a roleplay sample in all join requests. If the person doesn't provide a rp sample, contact them via pm and ask them to supply one and maybe prompt them to read the rules again (which need to be updated). Also, we need a way to minimize the time spent in the academy while maximizing the learning process. Really all we need to do is get the 'newbs' on their feet as roleplayers by just showing them the ropes of this guild's expectations (i.e. using quotations for speech and no marks for action while keeping it all together in paragraph form...although lines is fine too, Tempest). I say if you're constantly giving pointers to someone then they're not ready, but if you see that they have gotten the hang of things, graduate them immediately! We need to get people out of the academy ASAP. Leading by example is the best way to do things in this case, so all crew members, captains, and seated officers are required to take an active part in the academy. Maybe its only one thread you're active in, but so long as the newbs are seeing solid posts they have a model to follow. Another idea that might work is by setting a standard of one week before graduation, when, after seven days, any student can contact any crew member and ask them to graduate them. If the student isn't meeting our expectations, they have to wait another seven days. Or we could just have the 'graduation exam' scheduled every sunday or something like that. Every sunday we'd send a guild announcement telling all students who wish to graduate to send a pm to the captain who's squad they want to be assigned to.
Greed's been pushing this the past few days, so I'm gonna repeat it: GRADUATE ALL STUDENTS CURRENTLY IN THE ACADEMY IMMEDIATELY. ...Although we might wanna put off on graduating Dev for a while. The poor kid still isn't getting the hang of things and my whipping arm is getting tired of whipping him into shape all the time.
Right now I think our best bet is to screen by use of rp samples, and then have a chance to graduate every saturday or sunday via private messages. I can change the graduation ceremony thread in the academy to be more like a log of who you graduated and where they were assigned. Also, feel free to continue to discuss things and provide more ideas on this topic here. Shugo and Greed I'm assigning you two the task of updating the rules. Be sure to include new requirements as per the decisions made here. Discuss things amongst the two of you via pm's and check in with me every so often. Ask Nio and Tempest for help before coming to me to finalize things.

Okay. so we're having trouble getting all the people into squad's, on top of that alot of people... Mainly the ones that I've shown the guild to, Find it confusing in some parts, not confusing in other parts.
And yeah, there are a few people who actually should have to go through the academy, but it is fun, and it develops the person's character. If i had simply joined a squad, I'd feel a little weird cause no one a thing about me. Some people can handle being put into a squad just like that, And some people actually choose to go through it just because they can. It shows one, their role playing level, how much they understand, and of course, how creative and original their posts are.
Now i think that when they introduce themselves, they should state what Squad they would like to be in/and for what purpose, so people can help them get into that squad.
Now i'm not saying, Hey, i don't wanna gradurate, but it looks like i'lll have to speed it up a little. Problem is... I don't have anyone to post that my character is "ready".
And i feel like their should be at least a post count of more than 10 posts, or more, if they want to be in a squad, or a captain, stuff like that.
And that comes down to more people. >_>
So at the moment, We're in a pickle... anyone else got a view to point out?

soooooo.....
i can graduate the academy now... *dances around in underwear*
i like lizzy's idea of a post count, but not every one is a full on role player, there are a FEW and i mean a few people out there that seem, to randomly spam nonsense, or just like to ((Ooc)) and drag topics further of track.
the sample is already a must when you join, so instead of just having that as a decider how about we have like a battle decider, where the new recruits that want straight into a squad need to have a proper battle... no auto miss, hit i'm invincible crap, and if there about to put up a decant fight and show that they really do have skill then yeah put them into a squad as a unseated officer, and let the captain sort out whether they become a seated officer
i gladly volunteer to kick there asses
AND AND AND
can i be in the 10th division there in charge or large sccale operations.... i like that XD

Mm, so I like Mystic's idea. Lizzy, your idea doesn't really seem to address the problem. Yes, while we do need more members the problem I'm trying to fix here is that either people are stuck in the academy for too long when they don't need it or else people who do need it are too confused to know what to do. This is part of the reason why I want some of our crew to do some work on our rules and the other information in the guild, you know to make it more presentable, more up-to-date, and easier to understand/find.
Anywho, if it has to do with combat eleventh division should be in charge. As eleventh captain and interim captain commander I'd be happy to kick a few asses. I mean I'd rather spend a shitload of my time roleplaying with the newbies than writing new rules and editing forums and crap xDDDD Stick you guy with the crap job and take the fun one for myself.
ALRIGHT! If there's no more discussion this is how its gonna go.... You know what this is an old topic and its PAINFULLY obvious that no one pays attention to it any more [except you girls~<3] so I'm just gonna make another guild announcement and a new thread.
