I was just wondering if making/reading books fiction books in which there is a false god is a sin. I have read many books were the main character believes in a false god made up by the author. Please post what you think.

Awhile back I might have said no. The reason I say yes today is because it could possibly, without us knowing it, cause a breach in our faith. I don't that I'm right though. Peace and Blessings

I don't think so if you know that there is only one god and that you believe in Him. Just make sure you don't let the false god thng go to your head and cause you to turn away from Him.

i think as long as you keep it in perspective and know that its just made up fiction - maybe, but doubtful - i doubt that it's okay. i also dont feel that reading the harry potter books are right to do. i believe alot of false god books deal w/ witch craft and satanic rights. and Gods word tells us to:
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
how can we read those types of books and put those thoughts into our minds and be obedient to Gods word?

wishboxx I have every right to defend the guilds I am in against trolls like you that have already been warned repeatedly not to post. Like I said before, **** off. I'm tired of your ******** about every post I make. The only reason you don't like my posts is because they go against your beliefs. Now stop whining. If you really feel that it's so wrong for me to post here, report me to the mods.

Crazy woman troll... Will pray for her.
So about this topic... I got this from a website: Why is God a Jealous God?
In Exodus 20:5, It is not that God is jealous or envious because someone has something He wants or needs. Exodus 20:4-5 says, “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God...” Notice that God is jealous when someone gives to another something that rightly belongs to Him. (If you wish to read more, Click this Link...)
So for me, making a False God in a book is somewhat wrong, not unless you're making a story that has God symbolized in it. (Remember Narnia? The Lion was a symbol of God there. Narnia was inspired from the bible. Yey CS Lewis!) Sorry for the long post. sweatdrop
