I've got a few questions for the Atheists in the guild. I love hearing what you guys have to say and discussing things, primarily religion. These talks lead me to question my own beliefs and make sure that I know who I am following and why. So, my faith and I benefit from these conversations, but what's in it for the Atheists? Personally, they've always felt like attempts to get me to be an Atheist too, but perhaps it's merely sharing an opinion. What I want to know is, how does changing another person's mind benefit the Atheist? It's not like there's a heaven for that person to miss out on. Of course I could be wrong and you really could just be sharing your point of view, but I still can't see how that would be to your advantage. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you shouldn't have these discussions, I just want to know why. Care to help me out?

While I disagree, being agnostic myself, it is my understanding that at least some of them genuinely hold that religion is a horrible nefarious thing. I imagine then to them that they are doing something quite beneficial to society by attempting to eradicate religious views and knowledge from the public domain. You see this line of thought a lot from 'thinkers' such as Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins.
