History/Design Features:
The Arc reactor was first invented by Howard Stark as a viable clean, unlimited, energy source. The initial arc reaction requires a significant amount of the metal palladium, which it uses as a neutron filter. However, once the reactor powers up, it can indefinitely generate nuclear-electric energy, feeding upon itself to perpetuate itself. However, if a leak caused the amount of palladium to diminish, it can have an adverse affect on the reactor, slowly burning the reactor from the inside with neutron damage.
