Okay, so, I was thinking. I know, I was surprised too. Anyway, I was thinking, and I though that maybe we should have a rough outfit guideline for recruitment. Like, when we go out on recruitment missions in towns or rally, just a very rough, cheap guideline. I don't wanna be like the mormons. I know this topic has come up before, I just thought I would reiterate it, as the guild has been attacked and rebuilt several times since, which is why we're recruiting in the first place.

I will try to ignore the Mormons remark for now for the sake of the topic. >/>

We had a discussion not too long ago about getting uniforms for the guild. Due to the limited amount of gold most people have and to the fact that not everyone would want to wear an outfit just because we say so, we decided the only "uniform" we have are the eyepieces. Depending on your rank, you get to wear a different color and whatnot.

However, I forgot what we agreed on when it comes to recruiting and small missions that don't last long. I think the same rule applies, but it would be nice to wear a "fancy" outfit even if it's just then.

-resists temptation to hit another anti-religion rant- ^^;

Regardless I'm not entirely sure eyepieces are my taste, so I hope im not over stepping by saying I wouldn't be caught dead with one on my avi. Though if it was a required piece of uniform im sure I would find someway to make it work.

that's kind of why we didn't get anywhere with the whole uniform thing, because of the concern that people wouldn't want to wear them. I can't say I disagree with this, but yeah the uniforms idea kind of died due to individuality.

Well in a small forum I used to do we had uniforms that were matching to an extent. basically a red white theme, with some kind of formality. We didnt have to wear them all the time, just when we were doing an event or something of the like, and they were easy customized since the theme was red/ white formal.

So hey get a general theme and try from there. It worked with my host club, and the bar style chats my friends open.

The Crew voted on this topic some time ago, when we were still discussing the "Overhaulus Totallus" policies. It was one of the topics that would be included in it, if it passed.

It did not pass. The Majority of the crew voted to NOT have uniforms, decided upon the 5th of march.

Furthermore, this discussion has reincarnated itself many times, and each time, as far as I can remember, it has been shot down.

Regardless, allow me to present a reason to NOT have uniforms, that more appeals to the Pathos side of things: Uniforms stifle creativity. I am characterized by Fire, Swords, and Japanese-ish clothes. Gear is characterized by computers, tech gear, and technological bad-assery. He wouldn't use my avi, and I wouldn't use his, because they aren't our own designs, and they aren't us. It's the same thing with uniforms.

Unless a WHOLE lot of people voice their support for this, I'm going to Veto it. Feel free to keep talking, and if you can convince myself and the other crew that it's worthwhile to consider this, esp. through show of support, then we will consider it.

yeah kain we already thought of the matching colors idea, problems included not having color coordinated items, and also wearing things that you wouldn't like to wear on your avatar.

Noted on all accounts, and each I shall address.

1.) Moneys- I'm recommending just a cheap outfit, and if worst were to come to worst, I'm sure the more affluent guild members would have no problem providing. Maybe it's just me.

2.) Individuality/Creativity- This seems to be the primary argument. I'm not saying that we should wear these outfits all the time, or that they would be a strictly set wardrobe with no wiggle room. I'm suggesting a very loose guideline. Like, two or three items maybe, and then from there, the merc has free reign. Also, this would only be for recruitment purposes, so if that mercs decided to band together to recruit, we would look more organized and less... Hmmm... Raggedy. While I realize that that is part of a mercenary's charm, people would have free reign over everything outside of those two or three items. Or, we could just recommend an item set. (i.e. Counter-terrorism, though it does cost a spot o' cash.))

Oh, and K'. No offense to mormons, I was just giving an... example I suppose. Not anti-mormon. biggrin

Sorry, but I just thought of this, if anyone knows any good photo editing software for mac, I have plenty enough free time to re-reboot ID card making. And what ever happened to Gear?
PostPosted: Wed May 19, 2010 6:14 pm

1) We've considered providing the uniform pieces, free of charge.

2) Having one Item as the only requirement, and having multiple items to select from, and only requiring it be worn in situations in which we needed to look unified (IE, zOMG or Towns recruiting sessions) didn't convince us. Just saying.

My point is, we've considered most reasons both for AND against this. You'll need to look past anything and everything that could be remotely close to obvious. If you can do that, or else gain a massive support base among the other members, then you've got a shot.

Duly noted. Argument relinquished until further notice.

BTW, Gear's been busy IRL. Suffice it to say he's got the near future planned out well enough. And if you want to work on the ID cards, that would be quite beneficial to the league!

But we already have a mercenary uniform. We wear what is most effective for us, or what makes us look how we want to. Thats what mercs do. >.>
